Wow, seemed like yesterday. Imagine, that life with no cell phones! Was a Sweet life!
I grew up in the 80's loved it but i love smart phones that help out a lot.I am on the road all week the GPS is life savor when i am somewhere new
I miss those days 😢
Christmas Vacation is one of those quintessential holiday classics that my family loves to watch every year. My folks just love quoting the thing and recounting hilarious scenes from the movie!
Same here watch it every year for Xmas
Considering that I lived for Nintendo back in the day, I was dying to see The Wizard. It never came to my town (at the time, we only had a small 3-theater cinema at my local mall), so I even had my parents take me to a nearby city so that I could see it. I remember getting the "Pocket Power" magazine with my ticket, which was basically a small version of Nintendo Power, that had some maps of games taken from various past issues. I loved the movie back then, and today, I consider it a certified guilty pleasure. It's definitely not a "good" movie, but I have such a strong nostalgic connection to it, I still enjoy it. Other movies like this for me would be Rocky IV and the animated Transformers Movie from 1986.
IMO it's not a "bad" movie either. It really captures the Nintendo fever of the period (even if it comes across as a glorified commercial) and even though the plot is "Rain Man" for kids...there is something about the subplot with the autistic brother wanting to say goodbye to his dead sister that I find moving. Also the level of joy that Beau Bridges displays about getting the scroll weapon and almost beating Mecha-Turtle at the end of level three in TMNT for NES is very moving as well.
@@80sCommercialVault You just can't hate a movie where a disgruntled father and teenage son bond over Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES.
11:20 Oh how times have changed!
Sean Connery and Matthew Broderick?
I never imagined that screen pairing ever existed.
These aired on my 19th Birthday :)
Sonic More Music happy birthday
Damn i remember that HBO "Simply the best" promo like it were yesterday!
Me too bro
OMG, I remember those Al Molinaro commercials for Encore, I haven't seen one of those for years.
1:03 - Best movie EVER!
I was 4 years old when National Lampoons Christmas Vacation came out
@@shades9415 I wouldn't say that I listened to great music during that time, played Nintendo, I remember watching the Batman film and Saturday mornings had the best cartoons ever. I missed out on Star Wars but they came back on the big screen in the late '90s so I still remember some of that awesome decade.
I saw "family business" a couple of months ago. It's good.
Those Jovan Musk “ What Is Sexy?” commercials defined the 80’s..
Lady In A Corner, yet another long forgotten made for TV movies. I’m blowing up IMDB looking for these while watching these old commercials ...
oh yeah I remember seeing the wizard in the theater! indeed it probably would've been long-forgotten if not for the nintendo tie-in... I kinda compare it to 'ready player one' released in recent years I think its the same kinda thing, decent story but its all those references that people pay attention to in the movie.
The simple times....now we're all entertained by CZcams sitting on our asses....!
We we're entertained by TV back in the 80's sitting on our asses
You couldn't have said it any better.
smackdowner yep, no different , especially if you got a smart tv with CZcams ... watching 1980’s commercials on a big 50 inch lol ..
11:00 I have that exact Nintendo game still! Box and all!
I wish I still had mine I think a former roommate stole it.

Best expression EVER.
Some good movies I’ve never heard of on this one
Steel Wheels-was a very good concert IMO
The Chinatown Murders-with no Nicholson appearance
Alice Cooper:Trash-what some of the local music critics here in Arizona deemed the album as
Lady In A Corner-because no one put Baby there
Thanks for another great upload. #80sKid
We're never gonna see a commercial for cars quite like THUMBS UP AMERICA ever again.
You also either love or hate The Wizard. I happen to like it.
Something about Alice Cooper's Trash that screams 1989.
I'm surprised that they actually showed a split second of Super Mario Bros. 3 gameplay in The Wizard trailer since it had not even been seen or released yet.
I was playing SMB3 in the arcades during the summer of 1989 on the good old PlayChoice-10 machines, so some of us were lucky enough to be playing it half a year early.
The day before my 18th birthday
Dawn Jensen that's cool. It was the day of my 10th. Happy birthday.
I was 15
We're No Angels is a remake of a 1955 movie by the same name.

“Brut. It smells like a man”
Said no woman ever 😅
*The Wizzard* 😑
imagine flipping that Brut commercial. Husband dressing in wife's clothes, spraying her perfume on himself. Phone rings! It's her! She must know! Play it off old boy, don't be suspicious. "I was just thinking about you."
