  • Centuries ago, the Venetians built the Old Fortress on the island of Corfu because of its strategic position from both the military and trade perspectives. To ensure that it could never be captured, the Venetians built a moat and layers of walls and barriers around the fortress.
When it comes to public speaking, you want to go in the opposite direction. Being a bit vulnerable with your audiences is a great way to create a connection with them. You could talk about a time when you failed, and what you learned from the experience. You could talk about a time when you were afraid and how you overcame that fear.
In this video, I delve a bit deeper into the topic, share some stunning images of Corfu, and brave both heat and flies to get it all done!

Great analogy. I like how you sprinkled in some lighthearted vulnerability of your own too -- even professional speakers get bothered by flies and the sun!

Oooh, nice analogy - break down that wall and be vulnerable! Also love the 5F’s, great tool.

I particularly enjoyed learning about the 5F's. I'll be using that framework to help develop my own stories. Good stuff John. Thank you
