    I install the middle post before I get to far on the cover to make sure beam in the middle does not sag in the middle and I get drainage to both left and right side for two downspouts.

    The u-channel or wall hanger, if i need a steeper slope can you put wedges behind it? The slope is about 1 3/4 inches every foot. What kind of wedge would you use?

    • @EverydayPatio
      @EverydayPatio  Před 2 lety

      Hey Racer! Thanks for the great question, yes we often have to use wedges for angled Fascia Boards, and in your case it would be in the reverse, adding metal, wood, bolts are all different types of wedges used during installation, depending on the specific install situation. Non-insulated is generally easier to do custom hanger installation with, because the hanger and roof is roll form, not extruded aluminum. Four Seasons hanger also has a angle on the bottom side, to help in situations like yours. Just make sure to seal the top really well, before adding your flashing.
      Thanks again for the great question and feel free to email us, if you have any further ones,

      Yea, as a homeowner I wouldn't. I would hire someone that knows where the strong points of the patio cover are. At the bare minimum you need a wood support to service it. 2 by 4, Plywood, Etc.

      Thanks man, the gasket is like a dense foam film with a sticky side you adhere over the screws to protect them and give the roof pans something to press against.

    For the insulated version of this, what's the furthest projection without a center post for support inside of the patio? Where more usable space is achieved.

    • @EverydayPatio
      @EverydayPatio  Před 2 lety

      Hey Anto, hope all is well, the further projection without a post or "Clear Span" is determined by the type of roof, typically it's 15 to 20 ft. Some materials can go farther from Four Seasons and some can only go 10 ft., depending on the gauge and thickness of the roof.
      Hope this makes sense, feel free to ask if you have any other questions,

    is rain flashing necessary if the hanger is under the soffit?

    • @EverydayPatio
      @EverydayPatio  Před rokem

      I still use it most of the time, but many installers opt not to. It's hard to repair if the Soffit is leaking, but if you take a close look at the soffit before hand, you can see if it has water damage.

    What's the difference between this and the Alumawood one you did in a previous video? Is there much of a cost difference? Do you have a preference?

    • @EverydayPatio
      @EverydayPatio  Před 3 lety +1

      I made a video on Alumawood, just to showcase the material. I personally don't install or use the material. Mainly due to it being very thin material, prone to damage and it has a very low quality paint, without a primer coat. This tends to make Alumawood and similar products look very weathered and chalked after a few years. Elitewood is a thicker gauge material, has a deeper wood emboss, and a primer coat of paint before the finish coat. Also you have the option to have Kynar included in the paint, giving the paint a 30 year manufacturer warranty. Hope this helps, and if you have any further questions, feel free to email us at everydaypatio@gmail.com.
      Thanks again and I hope you have a great rest of your day,

    what, if anything, is done to protect the stucco on the home from cracking?

    • @EverydayPatio
      @EverydayPatio  Před 4 lety +4

      The initial caulking your supposed to use is meant to bond with the stucco, then the flashing installed on top of that is for further protection against weeping and cracking of the stucco. It is very important to use the right kind of urethane caulking in this step of the patio cover, not all caulking is the same. In fact there are 4 different categories in caulking to pay attention too, and from there you get into the proper brands.

    Does the hanging channel need to attach to house framing behind stucco?

    • @EverydayPatio
      @EverydayPatio  Před rokem

      Hey Jake, to be properly installed, yes you need to attach the hanging channel to wood framing members of the house. Or at the bare minimum use proper wall anchors, if you have inconsistent framing on the house. We use masonry bits to find the wood, then typically every stud is 16 in., with doors and windows usually having a wood frame on the left and right side.
      Great question, hope you have a great New Year!
