If ever you feel these videos are too long, remember you are getting, in just a few minutes, information which took this man decades to learn.
Too long? I can’t imagine thinking that. I could listen to Peter unwrap the mysteries of Bonsai all day.
The same here, his videos are fun and relaxing 😊
I'm actually disappointed when videos arent 10-20-30+ minutes! Can never get enough knowledge!
if you don't have the patience to sit through a 17 minute video what makes you think you can work on a tree for years before seeing results
Never too long! He is so knowledgeable & respectful I could listen all day. I have learned so much in the privacy of my home in US. If I lived near Peter you would see me in the background of his videos. 😬
Man, I've seen many bonsai channels....no one gives this amount of details....he is literally passing on his skill and knowledge thinking us like his children/grandchildren...
Respect ❤
Yeap
Exactly.
Yes I am totally agreed that with you
Others cannot give this much detail because they don't have this much wisdom.
I am so agree. I am touched by how sincere and passionate Peter is.
I find this gentleman very endearing, he doesn't pretend to be someone he is not and tells you how it really is.
Completely agree!
He is pure gentleman. I am loving Bonsai trees the way he creates .Highly commendable
Peter Chan is my new hero. Couldn’t imagine what wonderful grandfather he must be.
Haha I watch some really raunchy youtubers and find them hilarious, but there's just something charming about how clean and professional Peter is.
He is a beautiful soul. Very patient and informative. He is the ultimate teacher.
Peter is the best in the biz and my favorite bonsai personality. He is constantly sharing so much wisdom, and without trying to capitalize on it. Peter is a true gentleman. I love the fact that he refuses to fall into the elitist mentality of making hard and fast "rules". Peter has learned over the years that there is no "one way" to do something. He does not promote the "know-it-all" mindset. Most experienced individuals of his caliber in intellect, realize that you continue to learn things even into your last days on this earth. That is a true sign of wisdom based in experience. We love you Peter! Keep doing what you do. Vivre la vie!
Love ur comment and also the main video by Peter...
I like that about him as well. I'm starting my bonsai from a copper pot with a hole in it that I found at a thrift store that sells junk by the pound and a SPAM can to start out with plants that I found growing in the woods.
This man has so much knowledge love watching these vids
This gentleman is the best tutor I have found in Bonsai. He explains everything, in easy to understand language. He has given me so much confidence when repotting and pruning. Thank you x
Thanks for the info. I am just a beginner and this really help a lot. I won't try to learn from any other but Heron Bonsai from now on.
I love the fact he keeps the message simple and is not just trying to sell you products constantly. Very honest and personable
Agreed that's because he's GENUINE
Yer I love these videos, takes away all the worries of this hobby
My respects how honest and truthful you are. thank you so much for this knowledge.
I just don’t see why he would lie about any of this.
@@larjkok1184 Some do lie about the needed materials, because they want to sell more of them. We live in a greedy and egomaniac world. :'(
Thank you Mr. Chan, many men may instruct but only a few can teach and you certainly are a teacher.
Expert passing on valuable knowledge , nothing hidden , no BS , just facts .
One of the best tutors in Bonsai.
Every videos of him, he explained every tiny bit of detail which you dont want to miss a bit. Seriously his teaching is really helpful.
Since when I was younger, I have been facinated with bonsai trees and even normal sized trees that naturally develop architectural shape. My passion has its peak and trough over the years and at present it is at its highest ever since I saw Peter Chan on his online videos. I am so inspired by him that I told my wife I'm going to grow old to be like him.
Such an honor to hear you share your knowledge with such simplicity and sincerity. Thank you, sir!
Great respect for this very wise man who's passing his knowledge with such honesty.
Whenever I get overwhelmed and confused about how to take care of my bonsai's, these videos of his always make me relax. He's the realist man I know. Would love to go UK to visit his nursery someday.
I can imagine sitting down and listening to this gentleman’s life lessons for hours. He’s wise without being cocky and is wise enough to know that by being honest and not pushing sales of products, people will trust him and buy from him for that reason
His information and willingness to share information is unmatched by anyone out there...
Your channel has taught me so much! I’ve been interested in growing bonsai for a few years now. Thank you for making this video!
I would of never known the process of the Akadama if it wasnt for this video. Thank you so much.! 🌳 Bonsai on!!
Thank you Peter ever since I got your book years ago I have developed a hobby that cures my elements
There is no need for pain medication when you have bonsai trees that depend on you
I am so glad to hear that. I know a famous Rekie master who believes that bonsai can cure people of pain or relieve stress and pain. I was talking to him only yesterday
It is truly an honor to have your guidance and wisdom right here at my fingertips, thank you.
The World is better with people like you! Thanks for amazing videos!
THANK YOU MY FRIEND
Thank you Peter!!
I’ve been waiting for this one!!
I appreciate your time and Information!
Happy Spring!
I spent a couple hours researching soil... This video saved me many more hours of my life
thank you for the amazing content
I can't believe how much information you share. What a cool human being you are!
I dont believe in hiding secrets - Knowledge should be shared to everyone
peter chan that is true and very rare these days. If everyone was thinking like that, what a world we would have!
Your knowledge is out of the world!!👏👏
I love how he delivers with quiet confidence
You don't have to shout to be heard!
I have a lot of old bricks so I'll try to make my own crushed soil. I use regular potting soil because it's cheap and special mixes from garden centres usually are low quality so I don't want to waste my money. Thank you for giving me new ideas!
I’ve started diving more into bonsai but after watching all of your videos I’m truly hooked lol
Wow! Trees are like clay on a spinning wheel in his hands. He melts them into their most beautiful self like the beautiful pots they grow in... Love learning from the videos. Thanks...
Life's journey just got more beautiful since hooked to bonsai trees🌲
I've been watching you for about a year now and your like a lovable grandpa with a huge amount of experience and want to help others
You are such a wonderful teacher! I learn so much through your videos! Thank you so much! 👍😆💖
Thank you for explaining so many things to us! I love your channel.
Informative and thorough, I can't wait to take care of my bonsais! Thank you very much! 🍀
Love his explanations. Technical yet simple. 🌲🌳
I love each and every details he shares in this video. Extremely helpful for bonsai practitioners.
Thank you so much for all of your detail bonsai knowledge, I really enjoy watching each one of your video. Many thanks!
Love this guy! Bonsai master for the common folk.
Thank you Peter for the way you help everyone, and unveil secrets that others like to pretend they have all the answers. Your honesty is your character and it is rear these days that people want to help others without something in it for them. May you always walk in the sun.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us Peter. You explain things so well and you have inspired me to just give it a go. 👍
the most humble master, congrats
Thank you, Peter, for your elegantly simple and informative presentations. You have kept me from murdering many trees and, in fact, redirected my efforts into some small success.
Such an interesting talk, with so much knowledge imparted generously. Thank you very much.
Mr Chan thanks as always for passing your deep knowledge for free, you are a treasure to the world !
Thank you Peter for a most excellent explanation of bonsai soils. I look forward to re-potting some of my trees in to more suitable soils.
Yes love him and his beautiful works!🙏
Another priceless video ! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge with us all. On my next trip to England would love to be able to visit your nursery. But for now, your videos are an absolute treasure of knowledge, information and, most importantly, your thought process of why you do what you do. You make it clear that there are many ways to do things, and you never insist that yours is the only way. But I definitely enjoy the insight and am taking your thoughts as I embark on my bonsai journey. I have both your master class and your Japanese gardens books, and absolutely love them! I’m going to see what other books I can find online, because your books also have your thought process laid out in such a coherent and easily understood manner. You give us such specialized information, that we don’t feel overwhelmed. I look forward to each of your videos as you share your great wealth of knowledge and the insight you’ve gained through years of experience and study
Wow thanks for putting out so many videos I throughly enjoy them
Always great advice from the master! :)
Wishing I could have been raised by such as you. I honestly feel like I've known you for years. Thanks for the expertise !!
Wonderful video! I love your bold honesty.
I love your videos. I have learned so much from them. Thank you.
I absolutely love your videos!!!
SIMPLE THE BEST. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL THE KNOWLEDGE YOU SHARE.
Thanks for sharing!!!!
Awesome information as always
The real bonsai OG ❤ what an inspiration. Thank you for your wisdom 🪴
Great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and being so open with sharing your tips to growing better bonsai. You're very lovely to watch, listen and learn from. I feel like he is passing down his knowledge to multiple generations to keep this skill going.
Excellent ,gentleman ,he has the kindness and the patience to explain !
good tips for sphagnum moss. i use it alot as well. it also makes a perfect bed for growing other mosses. I grind it up to a fine grit and spread it on smaller bonsai as a type of mutch. helps keep the moisture in so I can water less often. if you keep it damp long enough it will turn green and start to grow.
Excellent, thanks so much for all the detailed info.
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge about soil and bonsai’s care. I’ve been learning a lot from you since I subscribed to your channel. Now my bonsais are beautiful and healthy🌳💞🎐
Huge respects for your time and years of learning imparted most succinctly. Best regards
Agreed with his teachings. Fabulous explanations!
What an incredible video! You are a legend sir! The quality of the content, the amount of information, the way it's exposed... 10/10.
I love the humility🙌 and humor!🤣 - Great Info guys! Thank you.

i am in love with this channel - thank you
That latch at the end of the video can be a show winner no doubt about it. With the right person styling it and developing it in 2 years time I have no doubt it would be an amazing specimen
The best tips I ever heard about bonsaïs !!! very clever man.
I love him and have all his books. So generous with his knowledge.
Thank you. I'm a beginner, and I've learned so much from your CZcams channel.
So glad I found this channel it's a field of info :) this soil vid was very helpful :) thanks
Wow...great information! Love your videos. Thank you.
Thank you! We’d love to see you work on some large bonsai like the ones at the end of this video.
So much wisdom 🙏🏽 thank you for sharing it to the world
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Many thanks to you Sir. Giving us the possibilité to explore our own soil texture makes me happier than having just a simple recette de cuisine. I'm a new bonsaï fan, from southwest of France. Nice to watch your contributions. Regards. Grm
Very informative. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
This guy helps you understand bonsai at a much higher level. It helps you develop your own thought process without having to search for an answer on every issue.
Thank you for making such an informative video. Very few videos pack so much information.
Walter Pall has the same principle that trees grow in any type of soil. Having Mr Chan and Mr. Pall sharing the same principle its good news.
I think it just depends, lots of people over water so drainage is very important, I have plants I bought for my first house 35 years ago, just careful to not over love them and they thrive.
Thanks for this great video explaining bonsai to folks who don't know much about them. I especially loved learning about the stem cell and the reduction in amount of cells from reduced leaves. I have been growing bonsai for about 20 years and didn't know that. I knew about redirecting the tree's energy through the manipulation of auxin bt trimming apical growth but hearing this leads to a reduction of total cells was quite enlightening.
I just mix good potting-soil + cactus-soil(which has a lot of pumice). Nice, easy and super simple.
Cactus soil for drainage. Pumice by itself isn’t available at big-box hardware stores (only at specialty bonsai stores)... but, cactus-soil is always available at hardware stores and has plenty of pumice in it.
Potting-soil I use has a lot of sphagnum peat moss, fir bark, redwood, rock, sand, and many other nice ingredients (worm castings, kelp, bat guano, feather meal, etc.)
All the special and usual bonsai aggregates (Akadama, Japanese lava rock, etc.) is much too expensive for me in big amounts (since I only grow big niwaki and use huge 15-30gallon pots), and also not available at big-box hardware stores...
I learned this “potting-soil + cactus-soil” tip from an old time JBP farm grower (he grows thousands of JBPs and other bonsai from seedling)
This is excellent recipe
Can you tell us which brands you use?
The brands are not that important as many firms make Akadama, Peat moss etc - there isn't much difference between the brands.
I meant of the high quality potting soil and cactus soil, so that I can look for similar brands and ingredients to try this myself.
@@NightTimeDay Diff countries use diff brands I'm sure... but if you're in the US, my fave is EB Stone, for both potting-soil and cactus-soil... very high quality stuff with real pumice and lava rock (not the cheap and lightweight perlite) and other goodies. Same price as the cheap Home Depot Miracle Gro stuff too.
If you can't find EB Stone at a local nursery.. then Kellogg brand cactus-soil at HD is good because it uses real pumice and not perlite.. and any potting soil, Miracle Gro, etc.
Perlite is okay... it's just super light, floats on water and washes away during rain/watering.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge..that was really helpful
Merci à vous monsieur. Je suis paysagiste et j'apprends énormément de vos années d'experience.
By far the best bonsai youtuber
Im so glad he went over azalea mixture! Thank you so much! Cheers from the USA
Peter, youre my hero. Youre modern person with open data. Hopefully I can visit youre place some day. Regards from Finland.
Hands down the most helpful bonsai video I've ever seen, thankyou so much for sharing this!
I tried growing bonsai a few times, never had any luck. Even with visiting local bonsai store (owner would not provide ANY helpful advice, just watched me like he thought I would steal things)
With all the info on here I think I might try it again now that Australian summer is ending
Peter you are the best......thank you for your honest opinion, you put your customers and viewers first.
Best chanel for bonsai. Very detailed video which tells you what you need to know and not what you want to hear. Very good!
The art of bonsai is flawless
I get a treasure trove of information. Thank you for sharing!!!
I could watch Mr. Chang all day. What a wealth of information.
Your explanation is so excited and easy to follow. Wonderful video ☺️
He is the only one ( channel) that dosenth mention ...,! Like and Subcribe... I did any way ✌🏼🐋
He said that he wrote couple of research papers since 8 year ago. He is a scientist in his profession.

Very informative video. I am very happy to find your channel. Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge to public.
