@@marcse7en my grandmas miele was maybe used 3 times a week so that could be the reason why at lasted so long. Never expected yur candy to hold on for so long . Lets hope for even more washing years.
Thank you for filming this, I really enjoyed watching how the Mielé came apart and you were sort of learning as you went along, almost @bootsowen style! I hope you record more repair videos in the future.
Nice job my old bosch has just kicked the bucket all the lights flashing given up with it now 16 years it’s done well ordered a replacement very excited lol
I’ve brought a miele for £45 it’s a w1512 but I changed it to 1500rpm and when I brought it it had bad brushes one worse than the other this video was very useful and helped me all the way through it and a waterproof fault came on to but that was just the cable for the pressure switch at the bottom new she’s as good as new
I used your help to change the brushes in our Miele, however would add the following. trying from the front of the machine to engage the brushes and the four pins was far too much hassle. after putting the front on to test three times, I took off the right side panel, removed the motor, 3x 13mm bolts, and could view engagement of the pins, also be 100% sure about the brushes being engaged with the commutator. Do yourself a favour, take the motor off, get it right first time!
You left out the only important part.. Actually pulling the old brushes out at the connection.. Can I just rip it out? Is it just a pressure connection because it almost feels as if it's tack/spot welded in
When the brushes aren't equally worn out, it's the rotor that has a defect. This is not a solution to your problem. The motor should be revised as well.
Yeah unfortunately it seems to be an issue across this range of Miele. However this machine is no longer receiving any further repairs, as it will soon be taken out of service when I move to be destroyed. But it is something I will look at when I get my own Miele
2 questions as I have the same issue. 1. Did the brush holder just pull out after you removed screws? 2. How did you get the new brush assembly back in without damaging the brushes? Thanks.
Hey! :). So the brush holder does come off after removing the screws, but from what I can remember, I did need to jiggle it slightly to remove it. As for the brushes upon refitting, I held them in with my finger on each end as I slid the holder onto the armature. I hope that makes sense haha
You made life very difficult for yourself. You only need to remove the front panel (large ring around the door rubber) and 3 torx screws to gain access to the motor to change the brushes. You don't even have to pull it out from under any kitchen units.
Yeah lol, I mean this was 2 years ago though, so since then I've seen many videos on how to do it the easier way. Not that I can see myself working on any Miele's in future or anytime soon, but it's handy to know for references. So thanks for the heads up!
@@HooverA3060 Your video was actually a help to me. I've just replaced the bearings in my W3824 Miele washing machine drive motor and I didn't know how to lock the brushes in their housings when refitting the brush assembly. One of my brushes was also worn down more than the other. 2 new brushes ordered from Amazon for £11.79. Miele wanted £44.40 for one brush. Who only changes one brush FFS? A new motor from them would have been £532. Second hand motors are going for around £50 upwards on ebay. Hopefully with new bearings in my existing motor, it should be good for a few years more. Touch wood anyway.
Sounds cool with the new brushes- reminds me of my grandma’s zanussi for some reason lol 😂. I’ve got a Miele W3164 Edition 111 and a W487 do they have brushed motors?
The uneven wear of the brushes indicates a faulty motor. A segment of the commutator has burned. It will work again but not for very long. The commutator has shorted,

Really nice video, it is lovely how this machine gets older with you. I love the motor bearing sound (eventhough I hate the tub bearing and shock absorber noise) because it reminds me the machine gets older with the person that uses it and I found it lovely as well. What do you think, do you like the motor bearing sound
Haha yes, Miele’s have a distinctive shock absorber sound, although…definitely not as annoying as LG’s, which all seem to do it from new. I mean this one has too but, only now and again. But yes she certainly has a motor bearing sound, luckily not screaming like a meat slicer (as I call the sound). She certainly has served well. I do indeed love Miele motor sounds. The older models had much louder motors though which I love
There are different types, but you will be able to keep the brush back and release when the assembly is screwed in place. Some clip back, some have a little tab to bend in and hold the brush - to release push the back with a cocktail stick.
What I meant is that you managed to start the machine without putting the front cover back which means you managed to activate the interlock. How did you do that with no front panel
@@rgosain by simply closing the door the same way as you would normally. As long as the door interlock is still attached to the front panel, it doesn’t affect anything by having the front panel off
