Leaving Perth Friday afternoon and back Sunday night on a crazy 1800km round trip to try something completely new. Total flop or did we manage to find fish???
same thing happened to me and a few guys out at steep point some 27 years back, went up with spin rods and 8 and 12lb line, had a lot of fun but didn't land a single fish, We did a total of 17 trips over the next 4 years, most of them the same as you, up Fri arvo home Sun night, but after that first trip we upped the ante in our favour with much heavier gear, and caught heaps snapper cobia and spaniards. damn don't I miss those days but sadly an accident that tore up the right side of my body put an end to my big fish days

mostly Z man and mccarthy 3.75" and 4" flick baits with 1/8th heads

You need a 4WD and/or a boat to get to the good spots, right?
Not at all. Most of these places are all accessible in a normal car. It certainly helps but still good fish to be found without it.
