    The enzyme DNA helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds between the bases in aspecific region of the DNA molecule. ...RNA polymerase unwinds/"unzips" theDNA by breaking the hydrogen bondsbetween complementary nucleotides.

    What is the directionality of helicase...!? Does the working direction of helicase differ between eukaryotes and prokaryotes.. If so, why..!? Do all the helicase enzymes bind only to one strand..!?

    • @BiologySimplifiedTamil
      @BiologySimplifiedTamil  Před 4 lety

      In most present models for helicase action, thehelicase is depicted as moving along one strand of a double helix while displacing the other strand. Since the strands in a double helix are oriented in an anti-parallel configuration, such movement could either occur in a 5'-3' direction or in a 3'-5'direction.
