  • Some of my viewers, after watching my Keto Jamaican Fried Dumpling video and my Keto Peanut Beef Soup video wanted to know how they could make boiled dumplings using either coconut flour or almond flour. I experimented and experimented, until I found the solution. My almond flour boiled dumpling is a two phase recipe that is both very easy and extremely delicious. You can find the fast and easy instructions to make almond flour boiled dumplings in the link below. However, in this video I show you the science behind it all. This video shows step for step details how I conducted the experiment that led to the development of the burst of flavor Almond Flour Boiled Dumpling.These dumplings will take your soups, other keto and low carb meals to the next level.

    Thank you chef, very informative. I find soak chia seeds in water, then drain to separate the seeds, to be a very good binding agent as well if egg is not your thing. ❤

    I found this by looking for coconut flour dumplings. FYI Pan frying first to cook the egg may help. I am trying out noodles now made of coconut and reg flour along with trying out soy flour. Great video. CZcams is full of resources.

    The egg substitute could have soaked some flaxseed and use that water as the egg

    • @rtoriq
      @rtoriq Před rokem

      I doubt it because flaxseed gel doesn’t get firm like egg. Your best bet is either psyllium husk (drink LOTSSS of water throughout the day) or a little xanthan gum.

    You can use xantham gum instead of eggs as your binding agent. Good job

    Thank you for this. I love coconut flour so I make my dumplings with plain old coconut flour and water for my soups and bouillon. I just limit how much flour I use since it has a bit more carbs than almond flour.

      Does the coconut flour stay binded with just water? I always thought it would disintegrate when cooking without a binding agent?

    I love this experiment and your creativity.
    It made me wonder if:
    1. Xanthan Gum could replace the egg
    2.If Oat fiber and Vital Wheat Gluten (for those who aren't gluten sensitive/don't mind gluten) would produce a better consistency. Using either/both.

    • @NATForIslandLiving
      @NATForIslandLiving  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Nikelnicole. I know xanthan gum can replace the psyllium husk. I never tried the oat fiber before. If you try it, please let me know how it turned out.

      One guy used xanthan gum and said he preferred that to the psylum husk. So yes, you can use that as well

      try it eggless, use anthem gum and phylum husk to see if those will help to bind the flour for you.

    It looks very dry....

    • @NATForIslandLiving
      @NATForIslandLiving  Před 3 lety

      It didn't taste drier than normal flour dumpling to me. However it did tend to be a bit crumbier-not dry crumby, moist crumby. I think my only real problem with some of them was the eggy taste-so if you try it, go easy with the egg. you need the egg as a binder but don't use more than necessary.
