  • On January 2, 2024, I headed to Waterville to catch an early morning departure of L071. This job operates as a turn between Waterville and NMJ, usually utilizing the power off the previous L070 as a runthrough power set. Since the previous night's L070 had a pair of blue C40-8's, I took my chances on a morning eastbound with the same power. Particularly intriguing is the fact that these are the only two Pan Am blue six axles left on the CSX system, following the lease/selling of a considerable amount of the ex. Pan Am power to the Berkshire and Eastern. I would chase east in some beautiful winter morning sun, chasing the entire way at the novel 25 mph speeds. I hope you enjoy!

Very neat! I live very close to a CSX mainline in my area, and I hope I can catch their C40-8Ws and hopefully C40-8s as much as I can if I’m able.

Didn't know that only two blue C40s were kept. Cool to see them together though, 7552 still sounds good!
