- COPA90 Creator Nabil travelled to Cuba to explore the football scene in a country where social and political factors have hindered the development of the sport. On a hunt to find the Cuban FA he discovered tropical grass roots games, a love for futsal and a growing football culture...
Concept, creation, starred and filmed by Nabil Bellahsene.

as a Cuban American who's a bit disconnected from my country, i really appreciate this. thank you copa90 and Nabil for doing this, it really means a lot to see the state of football there, as neglected as the sport may be in Cuba
Copa90 is the best football channel. Such interesting videos all over the world.
If Cuba makes the semis of a world cup before the u.s. ill go absolute mad.
ochobinco cuba already make the quarter finals, did the us make it?
Not sure if you knew this but they already achieved that since 1930
@@davidacosta9158 USA has already made it to the semifinals
@@yetekt8025 true but holy shit, 3 years ago
Love the dedication to this making this video! Keep it up Nabil!
Viva Cuba!! Hopefully football (the game of the people) will take hold.
Tally Boyle NO EUROSNOBS ALLOWED
Tony Jn snobs have no place in football. If there are fans!? Then there is football. :)

Michele Frisoli not all Indian football fans are gloryhunters my friend is a Brighton fan cause the first team he ever saw play was Brighton 4 years ago.
Michele frisoli I do support arsenal fc and it has been around 18 yrs that I have been a fan and not just that I support the Indian club Delhi dynamos and so I would like to tell you not all Indian football fans are glory hunters
Michele Frisoli did you mean just 4 million in cuba? In that case youre wrong. It's more than 11 million
Looking forward to more stuff from Nabil!

NABIL
OMG the accent, I'm dying XD XD XD. Great video fam!
This was awesome
This is amazing
The most painful part is that WE HAVE SOM MUCH TALENT !! Young people with great technical quality and very fast as well !! But !! WE DONT HAVE RESOURCES TO SHOW IT !! We don’t have uniforms, cleats , a decent stadium or any type of school that actually develops players .
I want to make a trip to Cuba. The Cuban people in Cuba are Soooo humble.
Not too bad accent ( from a french )
Cuba vs turks and caicos September 1 Caribbean football league round 1
Jose Elcius wow that's after the World Cup
Jose Elcius hopefully Cuba will win
The games are for concacaf new league of nations lol my a Turk and caicos player may the better team win
Well done
Love it
In the oficialist media they literally let you know the plans to make Cubans forget a little about football and focus back in baseball
Great video! No one makes football videos interesting or important. One day I hope to make some content for you too
COPA come to Tbilisi, Georgia
I visited Cuba this year and was struck by how many people were playing football in the street. Hopefully the government responds to the passion for football and creates some football infrastructure
Im telling you if they did this a long time ago no joking we would’ve been the same level as Brazil
@@Tengoflow15We focused on baseball instead and we were the best in the world for a period of time
@@SillyCheese267 yeah but all the ballers went to the mlb and since the government is ass nobody wants to play for the national team which is understandable I would do the same
you guys should create an online shop.
I play football in the United States and I wish to play for them and bring them to the World Cup one day but if only they payed more attention to the beautiful sport that is football and not baseball
Nice story actually been there and saw a lot of street futbol and pretty much everyone was a real or barca fan, just saw one man u shirt
Did he get his phone back?
Germany 🇩🇪🇩🇪❤️ Love Cuba 🇨🇺
Talk about shrewsburys dramatic rise from relegation survivers to promotion chasers
What happened? Did you got to contact the Cuban FA???
I hope you can make a video about the renaissance of Philippine football.
Ah.. The national team has reached new heights but what's happening with the league though. 2 clubs can't play at their own stadia, with one on verge of folding, and the biggest club always asking the league management to postpone their matches to accommodate their Asian matches. Very poor marketing by the FA and the league. I don't expect the league to continue on. Sad since I have full of hopes and looking forward for more clubs to join, unfortunately the future seems bleak.
Viva Cuba!
Notification squad where y'all at?
Resources are pretty much holding back Cuba’s potential in football. They can only do so much.
Chingonada
buy him a tripod please!
Do you have a few grassroot football photos? I want to paint them. With coffee n watercolor. Part of the 100 grassroots football painting project. UNESCO is supporting me.
If this was in Copa90 US you realised that it's why US got qualified all these years except 2018
Next: The Syrian crisis you didn't knows about! 🙄
I want a Copa 90 sticker

How many Cubans know who Onel Hernandez is?
I do, he plays in Norwich city in the English Premier league. Osvaldo Alonso, who's also Cuban plays in the MLS.
@@java8381 he's the only Cuban to score in the Premier League. Although actually he is on loan at Middlesbrough this season
@@TheHesK9 That is impressive for sure. If only him and other Cuban players playing abroad can be summoned to play for the Cuban national team, they'd definitely perform better.
@@java8381 he does play for the Cuban national team
@@TheHesK9 He does currently? I thought I heard that he might, but I didn't know that he actually did.
It’s sad to see football is so set back in one of the most cut off countries in the world. But seriously, who chooses BASEBALL over football? Very stupid decision
Because they see cuban in MLB making millions and don't see any cubans in football making that much
Friend, Cubans most 90% don’t play soccer/fútbol is all talk.
that wasn't 2008 lol
I’m Cuban and this is all misleading and kinda BS can’t blame Copa90 or Nabil I love Copa90 and it’s videos but well when you go to Cuba for anything whether it’s for football or even a damn donkey racing competition the government and all sort of politics most be involved. Let’s start off with the journalist you can kinda tell he’s a communist the comment about Batista wasn’t necessary but it has to be brought up cause some shit that happened in 1959 is still “effecting”the country today, Batista was a piece of a shit but the Castros are just a painful horrible diarrhea that have taken more than that supposedly gold they have taken everything from our country but well back to football.Baseball
is the national sport due to the government only putting some money and resources into it the rest can drown and we still are doing horrible in baseball in the international tournaments so you can imagine the motivation. But regardless football has taken over but sadly we barely have a first division which is kinda semi-pro to not say amateur cause there are some really good players but the national league its really bad it has about 10 or 12 teams and you will laugh it’s played in a tournament format meaning there’s 4 or 3 groups divided with teams and the first and second places advance and the 3rd and 4th play for relegation to a second division I believe that’s how it goes and the second division is played in a mater of a month before the first division starts which is played for about 3 or 4 months the rest of the time players are resting and training from time to time ,so yeah a lot of progress for us that’s why we dint make the last gold cup or nothing for shit we got eliminated before we could even get close. Then comes our fans as you can see not a lot of people give a shit either yeah they are big fans of Barcelona and Real Madrid and act like they know all about football but they don’t they just know the mainstream stuff and they rather follow Germany or Spain over Cuba but as you would say they are all glory hunters only a few follow the domestic league and our national team but well it all falls on government and politics we have a terrible system and there isn’t much to be proud or even worth watching in our domestic football we can’t see any club from our land on Concacaf Champions or anywhere cause the government doesn’t allow them to play cause of “resources” they don’t even put the games from the national league on tv so what can you expect all they get is La Liga, Champions League, and World Cup and the important games not all of them. We have great players and talented ones cause I’ve seen them and some play in the States but the Cuba FA only calls players that play in Cuba or that have done the long stressing process of getting a contract through the FA cause they are your agents when you play football or any sports In Cuba and they are horrible they take ages to get anything done they take so long that Amiens a French club wanted a player he went to the training camps in France and they liked how he played and he could make the team but the FA took so long to reply and start the signing process that they just dropped him. And about resources it’s crap how can Haiti have build 4 or 5 synthetic fields in the past few years and we got our first one last year and it was started a few couple years ago and it’s not even fully completed still no stands or anything just the necessary things to play the field, keeps, and some benches. So it’s really bad we are far from even being a mediocre/competing team . I hope I can one day see our clubs and national team making it big. BTW I play football I’m a right back I can play right wing anything by the sides I have a lot of pace but it’s hard here in the States I come from a poor family so it’s kinda of a dream that might just be a dream but well here you have some truth and may I see my 🇨🇺 ever make it somewhere and always wishing them the best. There’s some bad grammar due to writing fast . Follow your dreams and blessings to all.
Cuba is a Baseball country
It is, but they do have a soccer history. They even went to a world cup back in the 1930's. Soccer hasn't been able to flourish a bit more because of the political system that holds back it's progress.

Will it be safe to go to Russia to watch the World Cup?
Jack Ronald yes
But this is the World Cup not the Europa League

So basically Copa90 spent all this money for some guy to just walk around, film some random guys playing soccer, and visit an abandoned field? What a waste of money.
¡Viva Cuba! ¡Viva Fidel!
