New subscriber! I'm quite familiar with your other picks, but not the Stan Getz - The Dolphin, so I will give that a try. I inherited some Stan Getz from my best friend's father that I still have to go through, sample and catalog. I have really been enjoying the 2023 Bill Evans - Waltz for Debby OJC and am anxious to get my hands on Live at the Village Vanguard soon! I was never a George Michael fan but your mini-review intrigued me so I will sample Older. I enjoyed your lean (not bloated) video content approach with nice insights both personal and otherwise and then straight on to the next. Your picks in chronological order was a nice touch as well. I look forward to more of your content!

Thanks for your kind words - makes me very glad 🥰 - and for subscribing 👍
I think “Older” is a good place to start with George Michael. He’s a master of rhythms and many layers/details in the tunes - think I’ve heard “Older” +500 times, and I’m not tieres of it.
Happy to have you onboard 🙂

Great picks! I’m a big fan of Roxy & Elsewhere. The transition from Son of Orange County into More Trouble Every Day is one of my favorite things ever haha. Cheers!

Band On The Run also has a special place for me, one of the first albums I bought myself. I recently replaced my copy, my original was is pretty bad shape. Great list, Cheers from Canada

Thanks - yes one need to have Band On The Run in a good quality.
I know there was one made by Nimbus Records, which should sound fantastic - but it’s VERY hard to find and VERY, VERY expensive. But one can hope 🙂
This record needs to be re-issued in the best possible quality (like many jazz-albums are being these years).

Stan Getz did experimental music with an album called Focus and also played with Bob Brookmeyer back 1961. He played lots of straight out jazz in Paris too in the 1960s

Thanks. Yes I like to blend pop/rock and jazz in my listening. The older I get - the more jazz comes on the turntable 😋

Aelways listen myself to Dark Side of the moon in your #1spot, but only after listening to any of the lovely records by that solid Rock band called Sol Azul (Blue Sun) for it has a centering and calming effect ; after all it IS indeed good for a man, and ALL folks really, to know their limitations, since as proven aelready things go bad , awry when a man tries to ''impress'' himself or others like Captain Phoenix said , wrong 3rd wood block strike, red T shirt and all (is it red though?) ...Shema!!!.

Great Selection! The Stan Getz, the Bill Evans as well as the Zappa and Dire Straits (I liked your comment on the Wood block haha!!) are some of my most played records too! Cheers!

Yes - it’s funny and very audible. They can’t have overheard this.
I can imagine them thinking: “Oh - this is not so important. Now we just want to finish the album and get it released”😆

That Bill Evans looks wonderful, wish I had that! Perfect pick for a great Live album with Deep Purple! I have that and love it. The Dire Straits album is one of my most favorite debuts of all time. I've never seen that Stan Getz ""The Dolphin" album before. Must look for it as I am a huge fan of most of his work. ✌

I love that Bill Evans record. Paul Motian and Scott LaFaro were born to play with Evans. One of the most tragic losses to music when LaFaro died.

    • @Claus-CaptainPhoenixCorner
      @Claus-CaptainPhoenixCorner  Před rokem +1

Yes - a great, great trio. And so tragic LaFaro died so young - Evans stopped playing for several months after that.
Thanks for your comment og for subscribing 😊

I match not 1 out of the lot ! But throughout my listening years, I've found that there is no better source than fans to turn you on to new stuff! Always listen to someone's top ten albums... there's always more than meets the ear... That bill evans looks like a doozy! Thanks for the tips!

Hi, it is not easy to choose just 10 albums, i could come up with 10 albums i've listened to in the last 6 months, i wish i could do a video of my own too, maybe in the near future, i don't know what came and microphone i would need, anyway, great list, not so keen on george michael, the rest is great

      Thanks for your comment.
I use my iPhone (11 Pro) as camera and an external microphone (but the build in mic could do it). Plenty of light is always good for picture quality.
Good luck with making your own videos.

Some nice picks. Dire Straits made some of the best sounding albums. I bought a few of them on MoFi just to enjoy them more. Nice job picking these out of 3000. Outer lists were a lot diffenert but that is what makes this fun
