    Rules of being a medic:
    1. Doc can't save everyone
    2. Good people will die
    3. Doc will go to hell and back to break rules 1 and 2

Would love to see more videos about how you pack your aid bag, maybe some extra tips and items that could be used to treat casualties and trauma such as tampons, more like improvised items and techniques. Also learning more about actual training through AIT and typical scenarios you have day to day would be very helpful

Okay, so which bag DO you like?
Personally, I still like, and run, the old canvas (nylon sucks) M-5 bag, and also run for DA,Raids and that sort of thing, the M-9, and find it fine for this role, as long as there is resupply in the truck close by, I also have used:
*The LBT/Blackhawk 'large' medic pack (I thought it was way too big, but well thought out...maybe good for static type work, IDK-I use the insert pouches separately, as they are great for all my 'tools' like airway set, ENT kit ect, and the medication bag, as it is padded, works great also),
*The 'SCOTT" bag by LBT (like this alot but it will cost you if not issued it-mine was/is issue), *The M7 bags by various makers (fine, again, in a DA or urban combat bag, but a bit wonkily thought out, by LBT...other makers tweak theirs and are better),
*The Eagle medic bag (great bag-not one complaint),
*MR (too big for damn near any mission, just like the LBT/Blackhawk I mentioned),
*SOE (just a different version of the M-9 bag, with a jacked up price),
    *Specter (fair),
    *BDS (another great one),
*Spec. Ops Brand (makers of the 'go bag', 'mission go bag' and large med ruck, as a system...my favorite issue medical pack besides the M-5 and M-9),
*The M-3 (still very good for its intended use)...
*Every single GI Issue medical bag/pack, or "Medical equipment set" bag/packs ever in USGI inventory since the 1970s, in my attempt to find the 'perfect' medic pack...
Anyhow-you name it, I've probably been issued, or bought and used it.
I still rank the G.I Issue M-5 as best/My favorite bag, paired with the M-3 or M-9, but with medics, as with 'gun guys', its personal preference-plain and simple. It all depends on the mission, length of time out, and expected injuries as to what I use/carry.
I also carry a BP cuff, stethoscope, airway and ENT tools mentioned earlier, Pulseox O2 meter (forget the brand, but is the issue type black one with its own pelican case), Same BVM as the OP...I can list everything if someone asks, either here or via PM here, as I dont want to hijack the OPs thing here.
If someone has a question about a certain bag, just ask me and I will let you know what I think, as, if SOCOM hasnt issued it-and they spend BIG bucks on us to get us the bags we want, and to evaluate different bags/packs as well-then I have most likely bought it, in MY quest...never ending quest, to find a better bag than my M-5.
But, just like you have different weapons for different roles, a medic has to keep different med packs tailored for each different role his unit may perform, tailor it to each, and keep the stuff at least somewhat current...I dont stress over dates as many items dont go bad, the date is just there for legal reasons. Good luck, and thanks for your video review.

I like the M10, I also took a Propper UC2 and customized it to be an Aidbag (really just a better M9) I agree Shooters preference, some people really like M9s, I personally try to put a lot of stuff on my IOTV and external on the bag so I don't even have to open the bag unless I'm sitting on my casualty for a protracted period of time, although there is some merit to having everything be internal and you have to remember you're carrying an aidbag in addition to a Rucksack and the full packing list not instead of so bag shape is very important, I prefer long narrow designs that keep it thin over bulkier ones like the STOMP which I hate

I would invest in an m5 medic bag. It's bigger and thinker than the standard m9 bag as show in the vid and the inside design has dividers which makes it more efficient to get to what you need instead of dealing with pouches. Once you open the bag, everything is right there in divide sections standing upright for you to grab. Should be standard issue for basic medics but the military lives by the m9 for some reason.

@8:56 You incorrectly advocate the use of a Blizzard Survival Blanket for a victim of heat stroke. Please reconsider this action. Unless you pre-fill the bag with ice and plan on inserting your patient as a human popsicle stick into the ice filled bag... I don’t really see a positive outcome for your heat stroked patient.

What if I'm a RN with BSN with years of experience and want to enlist as 68w? Do I still need to undergo its ait training or I could skip it? I'll use this path to gain my citizenship track fast so I could go commission and be an officer

    • @vaitomanocu5562
      @vaitomanocu5562 Před 2 lety

The only way to skip parts of training is having an EMT license, which will allow you to skip the first half. If you come into the program with it you'll be advanced directly into Whiskey phase where the combat medicine takes place (about 10 weeks) but your cert will not help you advance, but may help you get your EMT license since you're already familiar with anatomy and physiology.

I’m NG rn as a 13b...my contract ends in 3yrs and I want to do active duty but reclassify as a 68w. I’ve heard that you can skip the first part of AIT holding your EMT license. I’m about to get my bachelors and I’ll have extra benefits that could cover the Paramedic program. Would you recommend that to furthering the career prior to AIT ?

More Medals of Honor, Silver Stars and Bronze Stars have been awarded to Combat Medics than any other MOS in the Army. The Medical Corps needs to be restored as a separate organization and Combat Medics should be allowed to wear the Red Beret much as the Marines are a separate corps within the Navy.
