    Never poison animals.
    1. Because other predators that feed on them also get poisoned.
    2. They may crawl inside a wall, die, and the smell is horrendous.

    • @MrGerritv
      @MrGerritv Před rokem +4

      Not completely true. Second hand poisoning really depends on the product being used and how much can even be passed along. For example, cholecalciferol is a very effective rodenticide but does not pass along to a predator that may eat it. On the note of them dying in the wall, although it’s possible, it doesn’t happen very often at all.

    • @kerrihiggins2106

      An adult animal would be ok, but if their young eat it, it can be fatal. It happened to some eagles on Southwest eagle cam awhile back... one of the babies died and they thankfully were able to save the other after intervening. We've used these before and have had mice die in our walls a few times down in the basement. For a few days to a week it smells absolutely horrid 🤢

      Lots of things like to chew on these baits, not just mice and rats. Snails, slugs, ants, voles, chipmunks, I've even seen daddy long-legs chew on them before.
      Snails and slugs are greedy, any you can lose an entire box of bait to them before the mice find it. Or a fat rat decides his gonna stay there an eat it all.
      Which is why you check droppings, and check your bait boxes.

      That is only one factor, you can use bite marks to confirm activity but the prevalence of the colored feces in particular areas will allow you to ascertain target areas, high activity areas, and if the target species is the one feeding on the bait. You may find different feces from different species and you can know that you are also baiting flying squirrels, or Eastern grays, chipmunks, rats, etc. You even find Raccoon latrines that will be colored by the die used in the block. It is multi-stage analysis for a continuous maintenance program. You are too dumb for this anyways, clearly 🤣🤣

    1. Why not kill them immediately
    2. Can't you just check for bite marks on your bait
    3. Why the need to see if they bit the bait

    So they feel prolonged excruciating pain for the last of their lives? Man I wish I could do something to people who invent this shit

      Oh yeah, they are definitely in pain for those last few days. Blood starts to thin, they get super dehydrated, stomach pains from the poison, and then a heart attack at the end.

    On our farm we find when the mice are pooping out the colour of the block it’s time to change the block. They seem to grow resistant to the blocks and can eat it like food without actually killing the mice.

    I worked at a warehouse that used this for years. It was awful. Mice could breed faster then they would die. Blue mouse shit everywhere so probably fucked up my lungs. Dead mice everywhere, sometimes you’d find fresh bodies, sometimes skeletons cause they crawled in somewhere and rotted there for years. Worst part was finding them in the final moments, not a quick death at all. Also your poisoning whatever eats the mice.

    This is literally the worst thing to do is to poison the mouse. What happens when birds of prey eats them?. Dead. It's going to be your fault for poisoning the main food source for the birds.
