I went to a show at the Spectrum in Philadelphia back in the late 80’s with a couple of friends. Arn, Tully, and King Haku walked right by us to the ring. One of my friends was heckling Haku making fun of him. Haku ignored the heckling but Arn turned towards my friend and said something along the lines of “that man will destroy me, Him (referring to Tully) and the bunch of you without breaking a sweat.”
I had heard haku was tough at that time, but the way Arn stopped and drove the point home all the way back then always stood out to me. I remember that better than most matches I saw back then

I just watched that match. Haku looked legit pissed after the match and Col Parker couldn't stand up and it didn't look like he was pretending. Haku kept checking on Col Parker if he was Ok and head butted the camera man. Too bad, they didn't show Haku kicking ass in the dressing room after the match. Would have loved to see the Nasties being beat up.

I believe Haku was a bodyguard for some officials in Tonga. I remember Heenan saying he always tried to get Haku and Barbarian (who also studied sumo in Japan around the same time as Haku) jobs wherever he was because they would watch his back on nobody messed with them.
Barbarian (Sione) is known to be the second toughest guy after Haku.
He was actually sent by the king as a teenager to Japan to study sumo.
Haku went to Japan for Sumo and Barb went for Rugby the next year. If not mistaken I heard Haku say that in an interview.

Saw the Barbarian about 10 or 15 years ago. He got to be old but the size and physique on this dude was scary. Fuller was a legit shooter who probably could have handled his own business. He's one of the last links to the Fuller Welch carry days where legit shooters would challenge townsfolk when the carnival came to town.

But in his day and among wrestlers of his generation, he was about as infamously political as someone like Hulk Hogan, and if you happened to be on the wrong side of him in terms of booking, you wouldn't have thought as highly of him.

I believe some of these stories are exaggerated. I don't doubt for a moment that Haku or any other pro wrestler is a tough guy, but he's not Superman. Also, he should've been charged with assault for biting off that man's nose in the Baltimore airport. If a regular man did that, he'd be arrested and charged, but I think Haku's status saved him.
There’s too many stories of him fighting multiple big guys to not see him as incredibly tough.
When big legit tough guys like Rick Steiner, Rocky Johnson, Jim Duggan, Barbarian, Stevie Ray, Don Frye and many other wrestlers tell you the guy was a machine it’s best to believe it.
