Great video, brother! I know you said you didn’t think the fall colors weren’t showing much then, but I thought there were all kinds of colors popping along the way! Some of those waterfalls looked like some we saw at Pictured Rocks. Congrats on another thru hike under your belt! Time for the next one!😎

Loved it! Very nicely done, my friend. So much water on this trail! Between the waterfalls, the rivers, and the lakes, it seems like you were always near water. Whitewater Falls is insane! I agree with Samuel that the colors looked better than I was expecting, and there were some nice views, especially on Sassafras Mountain and the last day.
Some other shots that stood out to me: the asters at 2:48, the shots of the river around 4:30, the golden tree over the water at 6:19, the sun rays at 7:15, the color of the water at 14:10.
Congrats on the thru hike, thanks for sharing another great trip, and keep up the great work! This trail is going on my bucket list now!

It's amazing the amount of water on trail, and my feet NEVER got wet! So well maintained and so many bridges! The colors popped a little better thanks to quite a bit of color grading 🤣

Beautiful scenery through the green tunnel. You said the third mountain was the highest in the State, was that before you crossed State lines because Bald Knob looked way higher. Really enjoyed the Hike only one request from me and it may not be your thing, what about taking us through your evening meal, what you prefer, tent up/down. That would enhance the viewing pleasure for me but I'm new here do perhaps you do. Irregardless, I really enjoyed it all. Thank you!!!
Thank you for watching! Maybe the reason Bald knob looked higher is it's view is looking down on lower elevations, and sassafras has views of what are likely the Smokies in N.Carolina. As far as camp scenes go, I do have a few videos that show it, but usually I'm too tired to film once I'm done setting up 🤣

Thanks buddy! This was definitely a treat! I wanted a thru-hike hike for "myself ", but then wound up meeting so many people! Reminded me of Frozens AT thru-hike. He wanted one for himself, but met so many new friends along the way. Funny how that works!

Thank you! My digits are doing great! You're gunna enjoy the Foothills Trail! Many people do it at different speeds, so go at your own pace and enjoy it. I thought I was going to be alone, but wound up camping with someone almost every night. I met several people and we hung out like a small tramily!

Question about trip planning, electronics and navigation. As I am using this Thru-Hike in preparation for my Sheltowee End2End this coming October to help gauge electronics use, and what size power bank I will need or rather get away with since I am a gram counter. I will just be using my phone (Google Android) as a camera, GPS using the Farout app.
How do you manage your phone's power, do carry a power bank? Although I always carry paper maps, I am going to be trying the Farout app. How do you go about planning your hikes and navigation? Also, what does your food carry look like? My food carry as of now is 12 pounds for 8 days, with option of a resupply thanks to our awesome shuttle drives/trail angles. Over all pack weight fully loaded with 3 liters of water (which is my worst case scenario weight) is 34lbs.
Since this is my first time attempting to cover a greater number of miles, as appose to a weekend backpacking trip, I am overly cautious of how much food to carry and keep my weight down. Right now it looks like it will take me 7.7 days at 10 miles a day, although I believe I will be able to crank out some higher mileage days, just depends on my what my knees will allow.

My Sheltowee and Foothills trips were filmed on a Samsung Galaxy and I used an Anker 20ma charger. My navigation was on my phone. I typically use REI'S Hiking Project App for maps. Food carries are tough. I usually go for calorie dense, but light as possible. You can go back to my EARLY videos and find a food planning video for the Sheltowee

I was a good one! It's roughly a 6-7 drive from Northern Kentucky. It's just south of Asheville, NC
@@Smokeybeesnatural Roger that! We live out by the RRG and are looking for other interesting hikes. Never did a multi day hike yet. This may be a good one. Did you have someone with another car on the trip or was there a shuttle to get the vehicle to the trailhead if you dont mind me asking?
This trail is maintained by a strong volunteer system and has a list of people who will provide shuttle services. There are tons of access points too, it's easy to do it in sections. I ran into A LOT of folks doing a section at a time and I would run into them at a road crossing waiting for a shuttle driver.

Nice video. I see it was posted in November 2021. Is that close to when you hiked it? I’m planing to do it this November. What was the temperature like? I’m expecting it to be cold but doesn’t look like it was too bad based on your clothing layers and people being in the water.
Thank you for watching! I hiked the FHT, the 2nd week of October 2021. I too thought it would be cooler and had bought a new 20deg quilt for the trip. Temps ran from the high 70s/low 80s during the day, then low 60s overnight. I was blessed with great weather. Good luck on your trip! You'll have a wonderful time!
Just finished this bad boy last week. Lots of great spots to swim and relax on the trail. To anyone planning on going I suggest Toxaway River campsite, the Lighthouse site (only space for 3 or 4 tents max), Sandy Beach and Bear Gap sites are awesome.

How difficult would you say the trail was? Me and a friend are planning to start at the White Water center and hike to Table Rock.. gonna do it in 4 days, 3 nights. Bit nervous because I am not sure how difficult the trail is. Mainly worried about days 2 and 3.
Day 2 is Bear Campcreek to Laurel fork (15ish miles)
Day 3 is Laural fork to Cantrell campsite (12ish miles)
If I remember correctly, laurel Fork to sassafras was tough. Up hill all day. The whole trail is moderately difficult, but easy at the same time. It's so well maintained that you forget how tough it is 🤣 Anyone who hikes and Backpack on a regular basis will have no problem. Take your time and enjoy it! It's a wonderful trail and you'll meet many wonderful people.
