Just came over from Alec Steele, thanks for helping with his Zippo style lighter!
Doing a great job Beth. I wish you could show my son and daughter how much fun fixing cars is, I've given up.😂 🤣
Good job& Greets from Germany. We had millions of them and still every spare part you need.
I know where to come for a head skim if ever needed 😎
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳nice to see the Golf again!!!
Beth, you are magnificent! What an inspiration you are for other young women who might want to enter the field of motor mechanics but feel rather daunted. I hope you are as proud of yourself as I’m sure your Dad is. I love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing them.
Great way to show young girls to work on cars Beth .
Great to watch you work on the 8V Beth. I remember that engine well from my Audi 80 Sport
Memories from the past when I also did this job as a mechanic.
took me back to my first vw jetta 30yrs ago now. great work!🎉. you can have a blast with a 260 deg. cam and a G60 exhaust manifold. also the ABA 2.0L valve cover gasket which is made from rubber rather than that leaky cork one . Enjoy ❤.
finally mk2 time@!@!!!!! been waiting for this vid
Always interesting to see Beth at work 👍
Nice methodical work 😎👍
Good old times. Only eight valves to remove😄. Thank's for the new video👍🏻
this really makes me want to work on my own golf like this
Great work. I love the mk2.
Great work Beth, I think it’s great especially in this day and age seeing a woman willing to get her hands dirty and work on cars , great work and your father should be really proud teaching you so well.
I was hoping it was going to get a small turbo 🤪
Awesome 🤩 🇮🇪
Amazing job.
Glad i found your channel!
Yesterday i changed the heater matrix in my MK2 Golf with the help of your tutorial. Now it gets nice and warm instead of steaming up the windows.
I Love ..your work.. because ..iam welder ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic job. Great skill and knowledge. Good video to watch.
Hi, it's nice to see a girl playin with cars n engines, my type of girl and you got a vw mk2 golf 8v even better lol, there's not many that like doing what u do, ive got a 1983 mk1 golf with a mk2 1.8 8v gti engine I had bigger valves put in thn I ported and polished it, stage 2 fast road organic clutch it eats healthy or something, twin 45s dellorto carbs n electric points put in the distributor to get rid of the contact points and a 4.2.1 exhaust manifold. Waiting for it to get abit Walmer so I can finish painting my engine bay thn get the engine in, grate video keep the golf videos coming 💯💯💯👍👍👍👍
Great Video and very inspiring. I need to get working on my MK1 Golf just waiting for warmer weather. Good luck with your car 👍
Great work. Looking forward to the next installment.
Really interesting, Thanks
Like watching a heart surgeon.
Very inspiring video and channel
Great job, I miss being able to pull your car apart yourself on a weekend and work on it properly try pull head and strip new engines down in even a close time frame
Well! you made that look easy. Looks really good. Can't wait for the next instalment. Please don't keep us waiting to long. 👍
Brilliant video. Hope the engine runs as good as it looks because it looks awesome!
Learned a lot Beth. Great tutorial and nice work.
Nice one, will feel so much better knowing you did it all.
Looks all nice and neat. I hope you have success with the paint staying on. You prepared it well and, if the Golf is not your daily, it probably will. I've personally only seen a few that still look nice after being done but then again I only get to see them when I open the hood for maintenance or bigger repairs. All the best to you and your dad and thanks for the upload.
Wish I'd seen this before doing my Fiesta head rebuild, it's running bad and the leak test would have given me confidence in the valves! One less thing to go wrong...
That head is looking so tidy. I just put a 1.8 pb head on my 1.6 ez engine today and I kind of wish I'd taken the time to give it a proper freshen up like you did. Maybe next time 😅😂
More of it😆😆😆👍
Nice to see a new video. Looking forward to seeing the block re-worked.
In Brazil this engine is called "AP" EA827 has 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0, this engine is very good, it was on the market for 35 years, and equipped several cars, having it in 8v 16v and 20v versions, with electronic injection or carburetor, for you Europeans it is known for the mk1 golf engine, for us it came in the "gol" "saveiro" "santana" "parati" and "voyage" that went to the united states and canada as fox, here it is very sought after by people who want to turbo, for being a small and strong engine, bringing a legion of fans called "apzeiros"
Great job 👏🏼 little tip for ya, get a pair of stem seal removal pliers. Reduces damage and saves time. 👍🏻
Great vid as always, its always so rewarding knowing your engine is going back together with new parts and seals 👍
Silver paint? Half expected a brighter or neon colours to jazz up the engine bay 🤙
Great video Beth, I hope that you can get the car sorted for the summer shows 👍
great vid, love the stud extractor, not seen one of them before ! great engine room also !!
Nice job! Well done!
nice job!👍 I have the same wurth brake cleaner dispenser and actually I bought it from the UK. And I also have an Mk2 16V GTI.. Unfortunately I don't drive it :(.. It was restored to a state which is too nice to be driven . I know its crazy.. Sometimes I wish I had not put so much work and money into it and then I could have it on the streets today.
U and ur dad is awesome. Y’all do excellent work
Awesome job, I miss my old 8 valve. How you weren't tempted to put a higher lift cam in I'll never know. Great video as always 👍
Great lil update
Great Job !
Looks like an 8v PB head? Love that engine!
In brazil have 8v 16v and 20v for Audi a3 turbo and Gol G3 GTI 2.0
Neat little work stand for the head!
My mk2 also overheated in a McDonald's drivethru! What a coincidence haha. I had coolant leaking from the top of my radiator and last month my fan also decided to stop :( but that's all fixed now
Exellent work 💯👍
Really good to see your still working on your car and I’ll see how it goes when you get her back together. I like the confusion your dad was trying to do, it was funny you straighten that out. I’m sure it was just a prank
Love the work will look awesome when finished , wish had time to get my 8 valve out
Brilliant! Thanks for the video. Does the acid dip affect the cam journals at all and does it remove all the carbon build up in the ports? Thanks.
Awesome job Beth, taking 25thou off the head should give you a good compression boost but I think you should have gone with a good cam swap to :) cheers for now.
Back on the vw 🤙 shiny show season 👍
Nicely done... how were the valve guides?
Excellent work as always. That is one hell of a flycutter in your mill! What make is the mill? Always like to see your work. you are very methodical.
Fair play to you is all I can say! 👍👍
Do you fancy working on my type r lol best looking mechanic iv ever seen x
Great video nice to see skills being passed on I would have checked the valve guides they are notoriously bad in Volkswagen's but otherwise great video good attention to detail keep up the good work!
i'm excited how this build will ends, also what would you choosed for the engine?
Twin carb or itb?Or stock carb/injector?
awesome content.. great channel .......i was wondering what was up with your golf.....
Thank you for a great video. Excellent work, Beth.
There were a lot of trophies on the workshop wall. Yours, or your Dad's?
These ones are dads, mine are at home :)
Those engines are a doddle to work on compared to todays cars, most of todays cars are a absolute nightmare to work on. I changed a starter on my Citroen Berlingo HDI and what a absolute nightmare trying to get to the bolts, working on older cars like this in the video was enjoyable unlike modern cars.
I can't get excited about doing jobs on a modern car these days, older cars were so straight forward to work on.
Looks like you put cam followers 1 and 2 the wrong way round on the bench... might be worth double checking those two 👍
Good video Beth very informative ,just a thought have you not thought of going the route of vr6 engine swap ? .......what sort of power output would you hope to see once back in your golf Beth ? X
I have thought about a couple of options for an engine swap, but i had the 8v sat there as well as an abf but decided it would be the quickest way to build the 8v so i can use it over the summer! Not sure if im honest, might have to find out!
Great vid, I don’t know much about the VW heads, would there be much power gains from the polishing and porting?
Keep up the good work
The intake side is fair, the exhaust can use some help but it's not too bad.
Gasket match and clean up rough spots helps em out.
i think this 8 valve is the same engine that we have here in Brazil, 1.6,1.8 and 2.0.
With taking that off the head would that not put the cam timing out?
Thought that was what adjustable pulleys were for?
I haven't ruled a vernier pulley out yet, but it shouldn't make enough difference for it to be a problem hopefully, should see when i put it all back together!
O melhor comando fabricado é o 027.7
nice work but you have to remove the valve cover again to put the cylinderhead bolts in
I put the valve cover back on to stop any dirt/debris getting into the head until im ready to put it all together :)
I don’t know if you checked the valve clearances after doing all that work on the cylinder head
They are Hydraulic lifters so a bit less work to do
Nice, I got the same Engine. But the RP!
I subscribed your channel. Keep it up!
I make MKII Videos too but in German :-D
Adios ✌🏻😁
Greetz HEUERs Pit Stop
That was so relaxing to watch, the simplicity of those 8v heads 🥰 Is that an EG or DX engine?
...or EV or PB 😂
Or Gu 😂
PB engine I believe
Get a tool for valve stem seals it's cheap and way better than pliers
20v turbo
Watch piston rigns may be damaged too
Wow love you Like you bebe ene vidéo
Szia, van barátod?😉
Need more women motorheads. It makes a nice change and it's refreshing to see.
I like your English. I am the first time here. I'll be watching you. Subscription 🍒🎂
💪💪💪🙏🙏🙏🤝🤝🤝❤️
Who won all the trophies hotrod racing?
They are my Dads trophies for stockcar racing
Hey Beth, if i can just give you a tip.
At around 12:10 i see you cutting the excess masking tape off, what you could do to get some super crisp lines is take a file.
And just gently file the edge of whatever you are masking off.
You'll cut the tape exactly on the edge.
Edit: Just drag downwards with a 45 degree angle.
If you file upwards you might lift te tape off a bit.
Yep, I fine a fine round file works the best. You just gently drag downwards while working side to side with it.
A girl into thinghies....its Hot
Oh My Child! PLEASE stop ........ eating McDonalds. Thats horrible stuff ;P
