I'm in the 70s generation, but I was in grade school in the 60, I have been in the Corvair Club of Minnesota since 1977, I just put together a compilation of music for when I take my 66 Corvair to the car shows, and of course this song had to be part of it. Being a veteran myself and I hate what's happening to our country, I hop in my Corvair, put the time appropriate music on, and drive along old country roads, and my Corvair becomes a time machine where I can imagine I'm transported back in time. It makes me feel wonderful like a kid again.

The Outsiders, Mama Papas, Beach Boys, etc. These songs are treasures and the younger generation of kids enjoy them today. We would listen to WLS Chicago it was the most popular station in our area at the time to here all the great songs.Yes there were smaller stations in our area at the time WNIL -Niles WDOW-Dowagiac WHFB-Benton Harbor/St Joseph. These stations were for local news,Sports and missing dog reports. Although if you wanted to listen to music it was WLS for Rock and WMAQ if you were into country music both were powerful AM stations across the lake out of Chicagoland.

These guys look they are having the time of their lives! A little self conscious, but that's the charm! "I can't believe we are getting to do this!"
So many great things about this song .......
The vocal harmony stacking at chorus end that melts into the sax and then a trumpet screech.
The clipped lead vocal, in nice contrast to the spread out harmonies.
The wonderfully supportive but understated horn arrangement.
The recurring lead guitar riff during the verses.
The out of control guitar solo.
The double timing drum changeover under the horn riffs during the ending fadeout!
Whoever produced this recording created a real gem!
