I'm 78 and first heard this song in 1966 and bought the 45rpm. It has the greatest base line I have heard before or since. I love it and play it regularly. Thank God for base guitars and the privilege of living in my generation of this music.
@Basher Chet Kelly came up with " I Can't Wait Forever, Even Though You Want Me Too.." The rest of the song was written by my father Tom King of The Outsiders. My dad was a musical genius
@Basher you clearly don't much about my father.... which is to be expected, because that's the only song he is know for, but there are far better songs my dad wrote.

As a member of a 60's garage band we wore out a 45 RPM record and learned this song note for note and chord for chord to play dances....that bass part was AWESOME and still is!
I was in such a band, and we covered this tune. I grew up, went to grad school, and had a real job, but music called and I got in a band in 2000. I was the oldest in the band by far, and I insisted that we do this tune. We played it until we broke up, and it went over well. Good music still rocks a crowd!
Our mid to late 1960s band covered this song. We loved playing it and the kids always wanted an extended version to dance to. The raw "garage band" style of the mid to late 60s was just pure damned fun!
Thank you I can't tell you how many times I have played this song I played a disco version in the 70s,a metal version in the 80s,a grunge version in the 90s,a hip hop version in the 2000s and now I'm at the age where I can only play a country version but I am still playing it
Hey Mert! This was one of my favorite songs on the radio, 1965 and I was a sophomore in college, lots of love and lots of heartbreak. I’m 77 now, it’s 2024 and I’m enjoying some nostalgia.
Ren, I think that everyone who grew up with this music wants this musical era back. This song has been in my head for about a week, so I came here to hear it. I really didn't expect to see video as well.

Great song . You would be surprised these songs are still great today. I grew up In SW Michigan North of U of ND/South Bend In. During the 60s and early 70s as a kid listening to these bands. The Outsiders, Mama Papas, Beach Boys, etc. These songs are treasures and the younger generation of kids enjoy them today. We would listen to WLS Chicago it was the most popular station in our area at the time to here all the great songs.Yes there were smaller stations in our area at the time WNIL -Niles WDOW-Dowagiac WHFB-Benton Harbor/St Joseph. These stations were for local news,Sports and missing dog reports. Although if you wanted to listen to music it was WLS for Rock and WMAQ if you were into country music both were powerful AM stations across the lake out of Chicagoland.

Those were special times back in the sixties but I guess all generations think theirs was too. Well, thanks again, for your nice comments on TWLM. We got lucky I guess. - Notis, everyone but the horns plaied their own parts / no sheet music in front of the guys in the band. It was our own parts we made up. Maby thats why it became an Evergreen rock tune and its still being plaied in the oldies radiostations all over the US 55 years after we made it. 😎👌 Be well folks !
We got married in 1966 and I only had a couple of albums. Outsiders was one of them.... Oh and Snoopy by The Royal Guardsman was the other. Guess you know yours was played a whole lot more.
i thought you might like seeing some of the comments in my facebook 60s & 70s group. Pete Coleman Great pop music. Harvey Greenberg A truly classic single that still sounds great today. John Brankin Harvey Greenberg Oh heck yeah!
Frank Miller i talked to the bass player a few weeks ago. he is suprisingly thrilled how much people liked and still liked the song. Steve Costa Still in our set list. The resort crowd loves it. Great song. Never knew about Fox.
In June 1966, almost 13 years old, I was with my folks in Biloxi, MS, staying at the (then famous) resort hotel, the Broadwater Beach. My dad was there for a chemist's consortium; my benefit was a luxury vacation. There was a jukebox next to the swimming pool, where I spent most of my days. This song ("I Can't Wait Forever) was played CONSTANTLY on the jukebox. I fell in love with it, and the love affair has never faded! Muchos Gracias to The Outsiders!
Thanks for all the positive Comments Even thou its 55 years ago This tune is still being plaied around the world.- And I feal both humble and Proud that I was a part of this Tune + 25 more tunes we recorded in 1966 --- Thanks again you wonderfull people without you fans it would not have been posible

Yep! Also 70, still rockin' to those great mid-60s tunes. No matter what kinda bad blue funk I might get myself into, or when i get my knickers in a twist, the Buckinghams, Outsiders, Paul Revere, Happenings, ? & the Mysteries, and a hundred other bands and songs can deliver me right back to Nirvana. I'm so glad I was alive for those years, those songs, that music - and I'm glad those musicians were there for me too! 😁

These guys look they are having the time of their lives! A little self conscious, but that's the charm! "I can't believe we are getting to do this!" So many great things about this song ....... The vocal harmony stacking at chorus end that melts into the sax and then a trumpet screech. The clipped lead vocal, in nice contrast to the spread out harmonies. The wonderfully supportive but understated horn arrangement. The recurring lead guitar riff during the verses. The out of control guitar solo. The double timing drum changeover under the horn riffs during the ending fadeout! Whoever produced this recording created a real gem!
Regarding the self-conscious part, I always like to keep in mind that, back then, being on TV was a lot more special and important than it is now. Especially since this was before VCRs. But yeah, it's a really great song, the horns and soft vocals are what makes it so memorable.
I Was a teenager in the sixties, to this day I always go back to this decade for my favorite music and this song was one of my favorites. Thank you for the music , thank you as a band

This is among the very best bass performances of the entire era, and for the history of rock and roll. Unforgettable. I'm so happy you're still with us to witness all those who are always hit with that fact right away when they hear it for the first time.
I'M 70 AND ALSO PLAIED BASS IN ABAND AT SCHOOL AND CHURCH DANCES.THE NAME OF THE GROUP WAS THE MONARCHS.WE HAD A BLAST. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT.
Thanks so much you guys for this great tune you are one of the most underated 60s bands.....Love and peace from Canada

My husband introduced this song to me,he is a little older.AND I LOvE this Song!!!!!!
I first heard this song in 1967 at a HS prom/dance in tiny Union, WV We were all happy and dancing when the DJ kept playing.
I am so lucky to have been a teenager in the sixties. I am 72 now and this country is going down the toilet. But it’s ok by me as long as I can still listen to this music
I am getting old now. In April I turned 81.
All the old people thought the country was going down the toilet back in the 60s too.
@@jamesrobbins1243 turns out they were right. All this leftist Democrats crap we are dealing with today unfortunately originated in the 1960s. But I still luv the music of that era as long as the words were not left wing BS.
@@Redwhiteblue-gr5em well in the words of the great Pewdiepie himself, we're evolving. Just backwards

Thx For ⌚️♥️
Absolutely Fantastic 🎼

One of the All Time Classics From The 60’s.!😍
Thanks for your music. Now that 70 is approaching, these songs make me feel young again. The 1960s - you had to be there to understand.

As a Christmas gift from my mom and dad I was given a record player and two albums. The Kinks and The Everly Brothers. I am 64. This brought back so many memories. I remember every word.

I'm 78 and first heard this song in 1966 and bought the 45rpm. It has the greatest base line I have heard before or since. I love it and play it regularly. Thank God for base guitars and the privilege of living in my generation of this music.
I love this song a lot and it's in my playlist, grew up on top40, on the Am radio 🎶👍😃🎸. Yes?
R.I.P. Sonny Geraci, a significant contributor to rock/pop history and a fine singer. The Outsiders were great!
Several years later Sonny G. blessed us with another powerful lead vocal as lead singer with Climax. Does anyone remember "Precious and Few"????
Sonny was a performer,not a writer
Walt Nims wrote precious and few
Tom King and Chet Kelley wrote TWLM
@Basher Chet Kelly came up with
" I Can't Wait Forever, Even Though You Want Me Too.."
The rest of the song was written by my father Tom King of The Outsiders.
My dad was a musical genius
@@mikeking3507 genius?
He got lucky and wrote a good tune
@Basher you clearly don't much about my father.... which is to be expected, because that's the only song he is know for, but there are far better songs my dad wrote.
I was 8 years old when your song came out, just turned 64, and even after all these years, time won't let me forget this classic, thanks Gunnar....
August 2022 and here to say I miss Sonny Geraci, tremendous joy he brought over the years esp. this song and my personal fave ‘Child Of December’.
Gunnar I was born in 1967 and I can remember when my mom and aunts would play that song and dance to it.

Me too! And I'm still in a cover band!
Our mid to late 1960s band covered this song. We loved playing it and the kids always wanted an extended version to dance to. The raw "garage band" style of the mid to late 60s was just pure damned fun!
Who all is still listening 2020. This music will ALWAYS BE A SMASH 😎
You got it Victoria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear ya, love to return to the 60s and 70s, greetings from Charleston West Virginia

I want this era of music back SO bad.
That's cool that we have a video of a 50 year old song.
Man I love this song.
Ren, I think that everyone who grew up with this music wants this musical era back. This song has been in my head for about a week, so I came here to hear it. I really didn't expect to see video as well.
So much garbage that they try to pass off as music these days. We were so lucky to have lived when we did!!

Great song . You would be surprised these songs are still great today. I grew up
In SW Michigan North of U of ND/South Bend In.
I remember this song when it came out. Always liked it.

I'm 69 and I grew up listening to that song. A classic have listened to it many times over the years and it had meaning to me as it pertained to some of my relationships. Those were special times back in the sixties but I guess all generations think theirs was too. Anyway brother I wish you the best and thanks for being a part of my life and giving me something to hold on to. Cheers!
Siempre escucho música de los 60 79,fue la mejor música tanto en inglés como en espñol
I don't ever see this kind of music ever coming back again. What a crying shame.
Great music lives on forever ! But living through the years it first comes out is pure joy ! I was in high school and listened to this hundreds of times ! 66-76 were best years of rock music EVER !
I bought the album when it came out. Thank you for the experience.

really was. would go back today
Great song and video, just wish I could have seen the trumpet player hitting those intense high notes!

Still in our set list. The resort crowd loves it. Great song. Never knew about Fox.
Gunnar, do you recall, by chance, who played the horns? They were a great addition.

10 year old me loved this song. 67 yr old me still loves it.

@DavidSmith018 hello greetings 🙏🙏♥️♥️
Just love the screeching horn at end of each chorus 🎺
Great bass line and song. 👏
In 1967 I started playing in a three piece band. This was one of the first songs we learned. I was new to bass but had to learn that bass line. It's good memories like this that keep me going. I'm 70 yrs. old. Still going strong.
And that is one cool bass line.

I'm 72. Most of the songs from that era and the past in general I have already heard too many times and don't want to hear them again. Be here now!

These guys look they are having the time of their lives! A little self conscious, but that's the charm! "I can't believe we are getting to do this!"
So many great things about this song .......
So young
This is the best Bass line ever!!!
I Was a teenager in the sixties, to this day I always go back to this decade for my favorite music and this song was one of my favorites. Thank you for the music , thank you as a band
