  • Trigger warning: abuse, some description of suicide method.
I chose to leave this video unedited for authenticity. I intend to learn the process of editing videos, as well as planning out my speeches/topics. For this one though, I think I just needed to get it out there.
In this (rambly) first video, I take viewers through my life with OCD from 8 years of age until today. I talk, albeit it in a rather scattered way, about my obsessions, the moment I was diagnosed and my recovery. Please understand that making this video was very, very challenging for me. OCD does not mean our thoughts are true. We are not capable of the things it makes us think we are. OCD is a serious disorder which causes us to overthink, obsess and avoid.

I'm actually suffering from the same thing and I had the exact same issue as you where I can say POCD but had trouble saying what the acronym stood for. It's the worst because I'm constantly looking for reassurance and I still get confused if it's even OCD or if I'm a legitimate P word. It's honestly the worst. Great video!

I admire you so much for sharing your story. Your honesty and lack of editing are what make it so captivating. From the moment you began I felt like I was sitting right in front of you. My son was diagnosed with OCD and Tourette Syndrome when he was 6. He is 20 now. He has been through hell with the intrusive thoughts as well. And his OCD was fueled by his Tourettes and vice versa. I remember one instance when he was around 7 when he was on the floor in tears because he was afraid that he might not love us (me and his father). He said his OCD was telling him he didn't. He was also afraid of us dying. It was so hard to watch this because as his mother I was used to being able to fix things and make things better. It's hard to fight an invisible bully. All this is to say that I hope you continue to make videos. I think the world needs more authenticity like yours. And for the record, my mom was abused starting at the age of 3, and she did not grow up to be abusive at all. You are a beautiful person inside and out, and I am so proud of you for sharing this part of your story with the rest of us. I look forward to many more. Peace, Ginger

Society is toxic but I am so grateful we are living in todays world where we can share videos on OCD and the many different forms of OCD. You heal in the community and not on your own, this woman is really brave and what she has done is really helpful. She may not realise it but she might have just informed someone in the dark or saved someone from a server anxiety attack from a trigger. Good on you for making this video and good on you if you’re finding this video

All harm OCD is a result of you being traumatized..... period.
You saw horrific images.... or heard of them when you were younger.
Your brain didn’t have the ability to apply logic and you began to think on an emotional level that the thoughts were coming from you.
    NO!
    You have PTSD, not ocd...
    You have been hurt!
Test my assessment..... see if your “thoughts” started after you experienced horror or not.
    I guarantee that you did.
If you dont find out this fact with your assessment, that means you were to young to remember.
    Nothing is wrong with you....
    You were traumatized.
Once you realize you do not have this so called “ocd”, you don’t have a chemical imbalance, you are not crazy, you are not mentally imbalanced... on and on..... you are 70% free.
You are a sensitive spirit, in tune with God and had a normal reaction to an abnormal experience. You were not designed to experience horror.... you did.......again, you have PTSD...... this is vital for you to accept in your healing

please don't spread misinformation, ocd is real and it's hell. ignoring it will only make things worse and might lead to internalising something that you don't really have

Especially!!! When you have been molested. It's crazy how trauma makes you believe your bad, your the monster when the monster did those things to you. It develops anxiety, the OCD Theme. Pretty much a phobia. OCD makes you feel like your going insane. I truly empathize with her. You are not a monster, you are not your thoughts. You are lovable, you are kind and you deserve respect. You might have PTSD too because of your childhood trauma you went through.
