I was just thinking after watching this, I noticed how Jeno seemed to try and get Mark's attention a lot . Like when they called, Jeno seemed more interested in the conversation when most of the time he is happy to just sit in the background and listen to the other talk.
this got me thinking that maybe the dream comeback wasn't supposed to be this sudden? but seeing how all of us are in quarantine now with basically nothing to do, business wise this is the best time for a comeback. Back then when I didnt stan nct yet, I was already skeptical of the whole graduation concept. Bc I think it's a shame and pity to rip them apart when they practically grew up with each other since they were kids and when they have build up such deep chemistry with each other. And I was right. The whole graduation is a mess. Now even rotational, I dont think we'll get 7dream like we wish. I believe SM is just saying this to make nctzens feel better when this is actually a temporary solution b4 they actually separate them into new units. I think they weren't expecting that dream would be so well loved and now they're stuck. They dont know whether to continue the concept, adding new dreamies or keep the roaster or just jump to the point and seperate/create new units for the graduated dreamies. We know HC and Mark already hv so much on their plate. Both dream and 127 are growing groups so i'm not confident sm could ever treat them fairly. And im worried that it'll cause a devide in our fandom.
So I hope SM dont fuck up big time and get shit straight. Im so glad i'm a part of this beautiful fandom but a part of me is always torn by the emotional distress that comes with it. Seperation, competition, mistreatments, complications etc. But I wont go anywhere. I love their music and even more in love with the boys themselves and the chaotic yet lovely fandom. I hope we'll get to see better days and continue to support the boys no matter what path they'll undergo. Because in the end they are just one gigantic family with the same dreams and we are a part of them.💚💚💚

i don't know if i'm being too much of a pessimist, but i have a feeling that the announcement/change to nct dream isn't actually going to guarantee much (in terms of having 7dream comebacks). to me, it feels like an easy way for SM to suddenly justify promoting 5dream without hyuck, to allow them to promote more often than once a year (🙃) while hyuck (& mark) continue with 127 promotions as usual. that's why i think they bring up the idea of dream acting like U, with "different member lineups"-- if they take out hyuck, that counts as a different lineup.
this is because imo, SM only really cares about milking all they can out of 127 while it's still possible (aka, before the older members start leaving for enlistment) and shoving dream to the side until they get to essentially replace 127 in terms of promotions. that's also probably part of their plan; 5dream will be placed into fixed groups (or the same one) in the future, which i think may be the "next" 127. it's all speculation on my part, but i don't have high hopes that SM will suddenly allow mark to promote with dream multiple times a year; the most i would hope for is one 7dream comeback and several 5dream comebacks while hyuck is busy with 127 in america or wherever.
even if you look at the current situation between kick it promos and reload... it's incomparable and honestly embarrassing that they can treat two units under the SAME GROUP NAME so differently. i will obviously support dream's comeback, but it's frustrating that we literally only get crumbs once a year (2018- only we go up, 2019- only we boom, 2020- only reload... likely). that's why i might expect half a cookie in the coming months/years, but nowhere near a full cookie for awhile until SM's priorities are forced to change.

This is just like the same as last year Dream's been performing as 5 on festival concerts when Hyuck's is not available. So we'll probably see the same thing this year and the years to come.
i hate that i agree with you - my only beacon of hope is that they even mentioned mark at all. i feel a bit like if sm wanted they could've said that they were going to promote 5/6dream as a fixed unit without too much uproar, considering we've all had to come to terms with this whole graduation thing ever since their debut, but the statement references mark specifically, and i wonder why they would do that if they had no plans at all for him to at least do some promotion with dream, and given that we all know mark is one of sm's favourites, i really pray that by association dream will get better treatment if he's around. (i honestly feel insulted on their behalf, considering they all have four years of experience under their belt, plus their disney/smrookies days. not that it was ever a reason for their mistreatment, but they're not even babies anymore)
all that being said, it's hard to be optimistic when it comes to sm and their notorious poor treatment and empty promises. i can't work out if sm are oblivious to dream's popularity or if they just blatantly don't care - i just hope that if there's enough hype around this announcement (and i imagine the reaction probably is bigger than they expected), sm will finally recognise what they have in dream and the members will finally get the treatment they deserve.

I feel like that is what most of the dreamies feel like since they started training at a young age. they are probably each others only friends growing up. when mark graduated it was really sad and it got even sadder when the thought of everyone graduating dream and having jisung be left from the original line up...i think i cried even more when they announced that mark was coming back...

I'm sick and tired of dream and WayV being used as the "backup groups". They have so much talent and dream was what got me into NCT in the first place. I love 127 but dream is just as talented. Their songs are probably the most catchy (in my opinion). I just hope Sm doesn't keep debuting members just to overlook them and continue to overwork the same four members. I find it so sad that it took so long just to give dream a concert when other rookie groups who debuted after them have had world tours already. I especially find it ridiculous that SM spent so much time and energy putting SuperM together. You can tell those specific members are already overworked and, quite frankly, don't need the exposure due to how famous they are already. They just HAD TO pick apart groups, sacrifice the productivity of the teams they were in before, and stick a bunch of members together just so they could brag about having a "supergroup" that ultimately has to go back to their previous positions when they have unlimited talent lying at their feet in NCT if they would just put more effort into promotions. It's incredulous that a company as big as Sm basically got too lazy to build another successful group from the ground up and tried to find a shortcut that ultimately harms the ability of the individual groups to grow. If they had spent that time investing in Dream and WayV, who knows where they could be today.

Hmm I think that's one way to look at it. Hear me out, as a long time fan of SHINee and EXO, I hadn't really paid attention to NCT just cause they were so young and the market was already so saturated. However, I started paying more attention to them because of SuperM. I also don't think SuperM was put together to bolster the popularity of the individual members. I think SuperM was 'assembled' (lol) for 1) to compete in the U.S. market, 2) to bring popularity to existing SM groups. They achieved #2 by taking who they perceived to be the most popular members of those groups (probably backed up by data), and increased awareness for those individual groups through SuperM promotions. It's no coincidence that WayV and EXO had comebacks soon after SuperM promotions, and now we have NCT 127 and NCT Dream following suit.
This is also an age old tactic where more popularity for one member potentially means more awareness and popularity for their group. Sure it doesn't always work, as there are tons of examples where one member outshines the rest in other groups, but hey, through SuperM, Mark has become my ultimate bias. I stan NCT 127 and I'm even excited for NCT Dream's comeback even though he's not in it!
SM did pull out all the bells and whistles for promoting SuperM, but I do think there's synergy when the members belong to their own groups because it is in turn bringing awareness to those other groups, although not directly. I think it's similar to when there are overlapping members in all the NCT units as well.
I do agree with you that many of them are overworked, but that's also the reality of being an idol -- I would dare say many of them would want more opportunities to promote rather than not, but yes, health and mental health are very real things we need to watch out for.

as we all know, Jeno is not really a clingy person but I just noticed that ever since the graduation ceremony for Dreamies were cancelled and Mark came back toD Dream he becomes more affectionate. I remember their Mugi Box live where he gave encouraging and sweet words to Jisung and called him cute and everyone was shocked because he's not that usually affectionate. And the way he becomes closer with Mark as I often see on their videos, he always go "Mark hyung this, Mark hyung that." I once saw a comment says that MarkNo realized how important their presence to each other when Mark graduated. I am glad 7DREAMIES became a fix unit because they are surely a gem.

i literally had to miss SCHOOL because of how much the graduation affected me. i was sobbing in my room for hours upon hours because dreamies are the reason i started stanning nct after i watched mfal i fell in love 🥺 at the time when people spoke about the graduation i didn’t think much of it because i thought it wouldn’t happen for a while and when it came i just felt my whole world collapsing, the boys i loved and have amazing chemistry together will be separated **cries** but NOW it’s all fixed and our little mark is coming back and i’ve never been happier :( 💖💚
