I made a video last year covering all the important software that mechanical engineers and engineering students need to know. In this video, I want to focus on essential computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulation software, including finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multiphysics software, that every mechanical engineer must learn. There is an overwhelming number of software available (Solidworks, Ansys, Abaqus, Autocad, etc.), but which one should you invest your time learning? You may not know that CAE simulation is one the scarcest and most in-demand skills that employers look for in mechanical engineers. After watching this video, you'll know exactly which software to learn, what FEA & CFD simulation is for, why it's so important, and how to approach learning simulation.

There's no video like this on CZcams! CAE is an important skill that's often overlooked by students because universities only scratch the surface. I joined a research group to become an expert at simulation, which helped me get a handful of high-paying job offers.
Wt kind of reaserch group and where....?
Loved the emphasis on not just knowing how to use the software but understanding the math and physics behind simulations. It’s a crucial reminder that tools are only as good as our understanding of what they're doing. Similar to what I try to tell mechanical engineers in my videos.
Thanks, this is extremely helpful for upskilling after uni
Hey! Loving the videos so far and definitely hits the spot when it comes to Mechanical Engineering videos on CZcams.
I graduated in late 2022 in Mechanical Engineering and recently graduated in a Masters in Robotics and was wondering if you could do a video on how we could study from the textbooks you have recommended and that we used when we are university in an efficient way so we one can brush up on their knowledge quickly. Any tips and tricks would be helpful as I always find myself going through a book front to back :')
great video, took so many notes. im gonna echo everyone is saying you definitely want to focus on the theory behind it and focus more on this in undergrad
I’m fresh graduated mechanical engineer and your videos are very helpful thank you
amazing video!
Thanks, your videos are best on youtube for mechanical engineering and I love so much to watch them since I study ME. Could you please make video on theme building, constructing machine, I mean machine design beacuse that part of ME is the most interesting to me and I hope I will be working on it one day when finished with my uni
A very useful video thank you
deep understanding of physics and maths what it means what should we learn
Perfect and again thanks for this valuable video
Great video! How can we learn CAE softwares like Ansys for free without having a job or internship that uses it and if I’ve already graduated? I don’t want to buy an expensive license just to learn some stuff
I am speaking from the perspective of soneone in the United States:
One could check with their local community college if there is coursework in CAD or CAE that allows students to access educational or intitional software licenses remotely or install them to their own computers.
Community colleges can offer incredible access to opportunities that the public otherwise cannot (easily) tinker with. Take for example, community colleges offer welding classes and the access to tools, supplies that are otherwise more regulated
bro TIPS FOR BIGGINERS??
What are your thoughts on learning siemens solid edge..
Which one to learn , solid edge or Solidworks/Catia
Do you think Preprocessing are a take a part in future also?
Because, cae comes up with some methods like meshfree or meshlesh methods to reduce the Preprocessing time consuming
i have 4 years of working experience as a cae engineer. after that I have a 4 years career gap. how to get selected in interviews with this situation. can you guide me?
Is It really worth learning cae as a mechnical engineer? I think most of the big company has cae team so that most of ME actually dont need to care about how simulation works
hello nice video. Could you reccomend any free modeeling software or relatively cheap ones for students
Would these softwares be beneficial for a layman who doesn't have formal mechanical engineering training?
I only have calculus up to calculus 3, multivariable calculus. Physics I at university.
At the very least i think itd be cool to apply it if i were to have a mechanical engineering project come up
Edit:
Also not sure I caught this properly, the simulation software helps with design of experiments?
You have what’s needed to learn CAE fundamentals given you’ve taken calculus 1-3 and physics. CAE can be used to obtain DOE outputs, but you will still need to setup one yourself.
Hi @@EngineeringGoneWild , Thank You for your reply. With that being said, do you have any online course recommendations on Design of Experiments?
From what I understand, it's quite statistics-based.
I'm finding Paul Allen's youtube videos on here to be quite quality
10:01 ouch ... now simulate the cervical hardware he's going to need implanted
what is the simulation software at 6:56?
Well done.
card and memory play role
Can u please suggest free cad and cae software for mechanical engineer, who is in the 1st year of engineering.
Plsss this would help me a lot🙏
CAD- Fusion 360
Ansys has a free version for student, i used it when i was during my internship
Apply on your college email id. Student/education free edition
Hello bro can I move to CAE department of i have experience in designing??
Fusion 360 and Python
Python is not a software, it is a programming language.
Ayéfounè Gautier SOMANE
@@ayefounegautiersomane2592 Yeah i know, but you can build everything with it.
It’s so coool
