  • NEW updated walk here: • Pompeii Walking Tour -...
Part 1 - In this walk you will start at the main tourist entrance of Pompeii. You'll then walk through the famous Marine Gate and into the Forum. Here you will see the Eumachia, what was once the largest structure in the Forum. Next you will walk into the Temple of Genius Augusti (Temple of Vespasian) and see a marble altar at the center of the courtyard. Finally you will walk through the Macellum, the original marketplace of the Forum. The video includes historical facts about each site and also about the general history of Pompeii.

I visited Pompeii on Dec. 1979 at the time Pope John Paul II was one year in office and saw him at the Vatican giving his world address at the balcony during Christmas. We had a tour guide showing us around but it is best to go by yourself and absorb the ruins like this video. The weather that day when I was there was exactly the same as in this video, clear, mild winds and blue skies. Just a beautiful day to go through Pompeii and build up a appetite for a nice evening dinner in one of the many restaurants in Naples.

P.S. I am a semi-invalid mostly bedridden so I'm glad I just discovered your channel. In my younger days I loved to explore new places. Now I can do that vicariously. In my mind's eye I can see and hear children playing in those streets and merchants selling their wares. Thanks so much from your new subscriber!

I read about Pompeii in children's magazine "Kumar" in Marathi language in Maharashtra state in India, in 1972. Since then I am fascinated by the event, city and remains of the city. I have not yet been able to visit Europe and Pompeii. But one day I will! The video is beautiful and the silence keeps my curiosity alive. The occasional titles are apt.
It is one of the oldest known tragedy of human civilisation that has proof with remains. And it is created by nature and not by humans through wars or genocides.
Many questions arise to know more about this unfortunate tragedy.
The city is so beautiful. Even more beautiful than some modern cities. My prayers for those who lost lives in Pompeii.

We know for certain that more devastating storms are on the way.
