The best I have for that line is that the house is just banking on winning 51% of the time to make pennies at a time for the buck in the long run, but the gambler is there to win or bust
The house has the law of large numbers on their side, they aren't gambling, only the ones risking it all are really playing

The house wants you to win a couple of bets so you become addicted but they also don't want you to win a lot.

Exactly. It's a delicate balancing act. They want your money, so you need to lose. But they want to stay in business, so you need win at least sometimes. They could afford to bankrupt a person here and there, but if they bankrupt everyone there is no one left to play. They also have to give some, so people need to be able to win big every so often and everyone needs to believe that could be them. They also need to appear fair so the bulk of people keep playing. What the house really wants is something to complex to truly know.

I heard that Aventurine has a hidden mechanic where if he is your currently equipped character when you roll, you are GUARUNTEED to win the 50/50.

I think the line about the House is because of just how much goes into running a casino. Staffing, security, making sure the chances are on point, food/drink, logistics etc. Ultimately they want to make money, but they have to want a lot of other stuff to make that happen.
The gambler only wants to win. Kinda reminds me of the whole "if you lose, you die. If you win you live. If you don't fight, you can't win." quote from AoT. Especially when it cuts back to his kid self, after they showed the start of his journey at the start of the trailer.
Bungou Stray Dogs has a character that increases his power by spending money and it's so funny and one of my favorite anime moments of all time watching Bungou Stray dogs. Aventurine reminds me of that. Guy is an American organization leader in Bungou too so it's even more funny.
Imo if that line was to make sense it wouldn't be in its literal sense.
For example by "gambler" he could just be talking about himself and the house is sunday or the clock maker or the dreamscape etc.
He's making the point that he's the only one with a clear ultimate goal whereas everyone else in the dreamscape are either conflicted or don't have a clear path at all.

I genuinely don't get the people who get mad at the Adventurine damage jokes. Bro is a sustain character, did they honestly expect him to hit like a DPS character?
They're mad GS is comparing him to a main dps in the first place. GS was saying "oh at most he'll deal half my acherons dmg" which isn't fair because he fulfills the sustain role while also boosting your teams overall dps.
@SoilKilonova that isn't really what he said. He compared him to basically everybody, literally had a list of every character. Look, yes he can do more damage than fu xuan. Wow, sound the alarm. It's really not a big deal. People out here thinking his damage will break the game when freaking arlan does more damage.
If you want to say he does the most damage out of any sustain, sure. But it's important to not give the impression that it's amazing or godlike or whatever. No, it's mid as hell. Just a nice little bonus he has. Get over it.
@@GodofGoblinsbut the fact a susta9n can do mid damage is still pretty good. Yes the damage itself isn't much but being a sustain and having mid damage(which is literally just the average) isn't bad. Is it godlike? No but it do3s give him an edge on top pf his already insane shielding
I mean he dish out damage even better than some dps (yanqing 😂) especially in fua team he hit even better and have quite a good number according to cn analysis. Anything more in he will be destruction chara 😂
@@Whiz8 id like to see numbers that show his numbers are higher than yanqing. yanqing is not very good, dont get it twisted, but on his optimal team set up there is no shot he is weaker than an optimal aventurine set up in terms of damage. maybe I am wrong, but id love to see those comparative numbers.
For the line you were confused about, the house is more like a machine, it doesn’t have any specific “want”, they are just winning slowly over time. But gamblers are individuals, and have something that they all desperately want- to win, or to risk it all

House wants to make a profit, and that doesn't mean always winning. Gambler wants to win, every time
The gambler always knows what they want means that gamblers have lofty ambitions. The house practically takes no risks and thus the game is boring and worthless, even if they lose money. The house can end the game at any time, but the gambler will always be seeking more. It's basically a turn of phrase that sums up his life: Aventurine has all the world to gain, for the world gains nothing from him; the world did not want him, but he would want the whole world.

Aventurine's entire story is about people with more power over him constantly trying to get more power at his expense. They continue to consume until everything around them is destroyed (Aventurine is the only survivor of a g/enocide, after all). But growing up with nothing has given Aventurine something that no amount of money can give you; perspective.
A little bit of lore trivia, Aventurine was offered an invitation to join the Masked Fools, but he chose to remain with the IPC. This says *a lot* because personality-wise Aventurine fits in with the Masked Fools way more than he does with the IPC but still chose the IPC to meet his goals even when it would hinder him in some ways.
That says a lot about what kind of person Aventurine is. And unlike the house, he knows exactly what he wants
Glass is an absolute masterpiece. Split is the prequel to Glass, check it out if you haven’t already.
And Unbreakable is the prequel to Split. I didn't realize that going into Split but I really liked Unbreakable.
