- Rumours about Sergio Perez’s future with Red Bull have been non-stop as the Mexican driver has constantly struggled to match up to his teammate on track. Battling Max Verstappen at Red Bull is no easy task but with their challengers starting to close the performance gap, having a driver who can fight for podiums in the second seat is vital. Red Bull think they have a driver that can do that but their rejection of Red Bull’s offer could send shockwaves through the driver market. Is Sergio Perez’s rejection of Red Bull going to rock the team? And if Checo isn’t interested in staying with the team, who do they go for now? Well let’s check it out.

Lets put K-Mag in the 2nd Redbull seat and just see the chaos he causes behind Max
Or Mazepin 😀
Haha yes!!!
He'd still be at the back
He already has too many points on his license
Your a menace
Let's be real, Ricciardo would have been out of F1 for a while now if he wasn't such a likeable dude and a very popular face for marketing. Because I'm not seeing the skill there.
Thats because ur a 2020 F1 fan if u watched it 8 years ago u would understand he was so good at redbull originaly that everyone wants to see that again

@@BlinkyBill_ I've been following F1 since 2015 thank you and I've never watched DTS except clips here and there on youtube recommendations. What I'm talking about is the last 2 years of performance we've seen from him.
He still sucks now thou
@BlinkyBill_ yes until a young max made him a baby n made him a shall of what you ever thought he was
Imagine trying to resign Perez when Sainz is on the free market. But if Max doesn't like Sainz then it's not gonna happen.
Max does not care about Sainz, it's Sainz and his father doing all this whining because Max keeps beating him why RB doesn't want Sainz.
@@EntropicExergy max and his daddy don’t want sainz
@@kennethhoward9474why all the hate sainz is going to take the audi stake team for millions.
Like renault did with ricciardo at red bull ricciardo got paid 25 million.
@@kennethhoward9474 Max doesn't care, RB doesn't want the hassle the Sainz' inevitably bring along with them.
I dont think that the relationship between Verstappen and Sainz was ideal, in their time with Toro Rosso
DR was expected to fill the vacancy until he sat down in a car!! 🤣 Funny cuz it's true.
he was expected to take the seat coz on his testing day he was doing laps a few tenths slower then max. so slower then max but faster then checo
Thanks, was worried some DR fans might take offense at that
@@F1REVERSE I'm a big Ricciardo fan but I can't argue with your statement. Sadly I expected much better from Daniel, even if I have still a glimpse of hope. Next is Monaco, the track when he has always been competitive. Come on, Daniel!
It's a damn smart move by Chico telling Red Bull to put up or shut up....the choice is your's RB a proven winner or .....
Checko has been too much of a team player to replace him with someone else who may not be so cooperative
A team player who is 50 seconds and 8 grid places behind you is not a good team mate. You want a team player who will be right behind you playing D, like Bottas for Hamilton.
you can't be a team player, if you're not even close to your teammate.
Checo*
He’s the reason Max was able to secure his first championship title.
100% agree with you @jeffporter7846. He finished second overall in 2023 and has been 2nd until recently in 2024 (only 6pts behind). People forget he was a HUGE factor in Max winning his first world title in the fight with Hamilton. I do really like Carlos Sainz but am not confident he can do a better job than Checo. Checo is the ultimate team player.
Really! 1) Red Bull does not want Sergio or any other driver to match Verstappen. That is evident.
2) Red Bull had tried other drivers. Good drivers. Any of them was able to perform a decent level under the second seat circumstances.
3) Red Bull is not a charity institution. If they still have Sergio as part of the team it is for a Cristal clear reason. He has done the job they ask him after all.
4) Sergio is not crazy, he’s been a F1 driver for more than a decade. Therefore he knows enough about it. If he is not accepting the contract it is because he knows that It isn’t the best for him and he may have a B plan.
Yuki to AMR and Lance gets canned once his dad sells a large portion of his stake in AMR. Honda wants their guy in the seat. Checo stays at RBR for at least a year, the option is a nice added piece to the contract that would incentivize him to do better.
I think the worse Aston Martin do, the better chance there is of Lawrence selling more of the team and the better chance of this happening. With a few more dud upgrades you might get your wish
If Red Bull is smart they will go for Sainz.
Sainz will fight their precious milk cow Verstappen though, which is not allowed.
why should they . Yuki should they take.
@@spybreak23 I don't see the problem. Sainz seems to be doing just fine next to Leclerc. He'll probably have a similar dynamic with Max. Red bull needs a strong second driver now that the field is closing in. Plus if Max leaves, Checo really sucks as a first driver.
@@spybreak23That doesn't matter. Verstappen should man up.
@@breathofawareness7903Horner would sacrifice his wife and kids for max.
Every F1 driver does want to challenge for a world championship EXCEPT for Yuki. Yuki just wants to open a restaurant
it safer that way haha..
I wouldn't be shocked at all if DR snuck into that slot as he would be 100% ok with a 1 year contract if it gets him in that seat again.
“Daniel Ricardo was a favorite for that spot until he sat down in a car”.
Couldn’t be more accurate. Gained a sub. Just because a dude has looks and Netflix girls want him driving doesn’t mean he should be. 💀💀
Max took over Kvyat's seat in 2016, and Danny Ric out drove him. In 2017, again Ricciardo outscored Verstappen in the Red Bull. He has the ingredients to make the magic happen, someone just needs to take the cork from the bottle and let the genie free.
You forgot he was a good driver
Daniel’s subpar performances have been going on now for about five seasons.
Yeah I like him as a person but his performance just isn't there. He gets a good race every once in a while but just isn't consistent, I'd like to see some rookies get a chance in his seat instead.
I hate to see it, but it's very sadly true. He really has this season left to try to save any future in F1, but he would have to be beating Yuki comfortably for the rest of the year to do that. Every race would need to be near Miami sprint levels.
poor guy.
out preformed by Max
out preformed by Lando
and now
out preformed by Yuki🤣🤣
He’s been exisiting on a world class smile for a minute now!
Checo is still a better driver than Daniel....Liam Lawson would be a good fit in the 2nd red bull
Danny Ricc was the favourite "Until he sat down in a car" 🤣🤣...he won't recover from that one
I keep reading that Checo performed sub-par last year... humm, checking which driver came in SECOND last year. 😱
In the most dominant car in the sports history, he still had Red Bulls worst qualifying run in over 15 years. He’s in 5th position at the moment, unless he turns things around he could end up losing RBR their constructors.
I hope Honda does not get involved with that idiotic AM enterprise run by Rocky and Bullwinkle. Yuki needs to get out of the RB family
Now lets imagine a world where Perez and Sainz would get the chance for a seat in the same team. Both these guys know how its like to be the 2nd fiddle, im sure both would put 110% on the line to outperform the other ^^ With that, im somewhat sure we would have some awesome fights through the whole year in front of the pack ^^ Edit: I didnt know Hulk and Sainz could be at Audi 2026 together. Those 2 could put up a fight for sure .
All these people talking 💩 about Checo, yet RB says NOBODY can replace him! 🤣😂
Stop talking 💩
umm... it is mostly a PR thing. Of course RB won't say they will replace Checo to the media.
And YET... they don't want to offer him a 2 year contract... mmm I wonder why...
So why are you talking crap yourself then?
@@shouldent to hold out for a younger driver that will take orders.. not that hard to think about really 😂
RedBull is in the business of selling energy drinks and Checo outsells Max by a wide margin. Mexico alone accounts for 65% of their F1 merch sales. They'll keep Checo as long as he doesn't harm the team too much and keeps outselling Max.
They really have to say Tsunoda then promote Lawson, or let Tsunoda go to other teams
Perez demanded a two year contract but this has been shot down by RB.. 🤣.. In the meantime, Perez already dropped to P3 in the drivers standing, so.......there is not much negotiating power there for Perez.
5th now!
Even Nico and Bottas took the race to Lewis and got a few wins (and one WDC). At least Webber with Seb and Danny with Max were both willing to have a good, hard go at the team golden boy. Not just roll over for Max to rub his belly.
The closest Perez has come to that was locking up into the first corner and nearly wiping out the back of Max’ car.
Mark after 2010 not so much, even before that even though Mark was in contention, it was painfully obvious Red Bull did not want him to win, you can't win titles without your team wanting you to have them. Broke my heart to see what happened to him and everyone else except for a few years with Riccardo with Vettel then Kyvat and two with Verstappen. After those two years though, even Riccardo was basically forced to roll over. Red Bull don't want the second driver to contest no matter how much they say otherwise. It doesn't matter who you put in that second car now, the result will be the same.
I really despise Red Bull and how they see people and it's not limited to drivers either. The only thing good about Mercedes dominance was that it wasn't Red Bull.
im not sure if RB is a company you make a counter off to.
2:42 Love how it says "Maxico" instead of Mexico :P
Put kmag on the second seat and he would just stop crossways in the middle of the track to protect max lol
Honestly Yukis attitude is what is holding him back in many ways, idk if he would be a much better driver but it might help if he could take some of the feedback better. Also not many places looking to work with a guy who just yells and shouts every time
bruh last year, he had a few firsts and multiple podiums, everytime he didn't the news went crazy about him being useless in red bull even when redbull stated they want him, my best guess is hulkenberg has a better chance
Hulkenberg is one of the worst drivers in the history of f1.
checo should accept it, then try to get a seat with AUDI or another team that may seem competitive. Redbull might no longer be so competitive in the following years.
Sergio is a driver in high demand and can afford to reject Red Bull's one year contract. Toto is waiting in the wings to snatch Sergio.
Not in a million years. He'd be lucky to get a seat at Williams if Red Bull drops him. Mercedes?? You'll see Vettel make a comeback and rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli get that seat before they'd even consider Perez.
Res bull seems like the sort of team that'd hold a trial at a testing event.
They will be happy enough with Checo but know he will relax too much if given a two year deal. Wouldn’t be there is not for Carlos Slim for sure.
Money makes the world go round 🙂
It's not fun racing when Max constantly gets preferential treatment regarding upgrades and plain attentive normal mantainence. Everything is Max centric. Riccardo couldn't do it, Albon couldn't do it, and Checo couldn't do it. A two driver team is just that regardless of Max's talent
Sainz has issues with every driver he’s been partnered with. With LeClerc it’s just been well masked. Look at the behind the scenes action and you can see the tension.
Aston won’t give Yuki a car to challenge for the title either. Sorry that’s not happening.
The second seat at RedBull may only be good for a year. With the new regulations and Adrian Newey out RedBull may not be a powerhouse in 2026, there may be better options.
Perez is RB's Bottas
Bottas has a way better record than Perez. 10 wins against 6, 21 poles against 6, 67 podiums against 37, And Bottas beat him in more seasons. Bottas beat Verstappen in 5 seasons with Williams and Mercedes. Perez only beat Max in 2015.
not even close, bottas used to be a B+ class driver, maximum perez could achieve in his career is B and that was last year he is c+ at best this year.
Bottas could finis in podium when competition to the mercs were close but checo is not even close to a podium right now
Checo, its Helmut

2020 - Bottas 2nd, Perez 4th
2021 - Bottas 3rd, Perez 4th

Bottas 21 poles, Perez 6 poles
Bottas 67 podiums, Perez 37

Perez 2 (2022, 2023)

@@rotorairgroup8409 you should always consider the machinery, my comment is based on the championship winning mercs and championship winning Red Bulls
Yuki is a Honda driver. So he is not going to RBR.
He was also a redbull jr driver
It would be great to see Sainz in the RB.
Checo doesn't deserve a seat and it may well cost red bull at least a constructors title next year. Perez is on average more than 4 tenths slower than Max, which means if Ferrari or McLaren can get close, he becomes a huge liability
Underperforming back up drivers seldom do well on the open market...
Ok we have had 9 races, 2 of those dr was taken out beyond his control, then you have Monaco so that leaves you with 6 races, dr will do better as we go on
Yuki should move for the sake of trying for a championship. Perez is probably really tired of getting these one year extensions and he wants to feel like he’s wanted, but I wonder your extension is basically saying we like you more than the lineup but will trade you a heartbeat if something powerful comes along. they want to keep them around legitimately to stay
Sainz and his dad will cause chaos in Red Bull. Better keep Checo.
Sushi Tsunoda will be promoted.
RBR should try out the double Indycar Champ Alex Palou and the 2021 Nascar champ and 2024 P5 Indy 500 qualifier Kyle Larson. Give them both 100 laps and have a shoot out against Perez......?
They would never take on Pérez in 100 laps man. He is a great driver. Compared to max maybe he looks sub par but against someone who has never raced an f1 car Pérez would squash them.
Albon just signed an extension, he isn’t going to Red Bull.
in reality you is a better known than checo, he protects max and he does well with the riskier strategies that do with him. he will finish second in the points and red bull with finish first. Ferrari and McClaren both trail off as the year drags on. sainz is the only option but he will not want to be second banana to max. another more desperate team will give sainz bigger money
Sorry to say if Redbull wanted him, they would have given him the two year contract anyway.
Red bull could have given Checo a championship. Being that, Max will be there for many more years. He(Max), would have the chance to win numerous trophies. My opinion. Due to Max. Another one bites the dust!!!!
ricciardo? tsunoda? 😂😂😂 Albon already signed for williams and on RedBull he blew his chances
No one could catch up to Max in the whole f1 grid... xd only Sainz and Lando so far 😂
Sainz would be the perfect driver with Redbull.
They should give Bottas a 1 year deal and see what happens
Give Sainz a go at Red Bull.
put yuki in that seat he has earned that shot common red bull
They just want a one year deal with Sergio because they want to try and get Lando when his contract is done at mclaren.
Promote the media goat and prepare a new chassis every race if you want performance from him.
I think the other options are definitely either Yuki or Albon. I know Albon fucked it up that half season he was in Redbull, but I do believe he has grown a lot in Williams and is ready for that seat. Same thing for Yuki. He is a superb driver, but he is slept on for some reason.
yes yuki is quick, but is he world champion material ? and he has alot of attitude, perez on the other hand is ready to defend and fuck over his own race for max, yuki is not a good 2nd driver. Daniel would do better in the RB than yuki, i think most would, because of his attitude not his skill, also we dont know if yuki would be able to deal with the pressure from being a rb driver, needing to get a podium every race if you dont want to get shit on by the media. He is a big risk thats why its not going to happen, he will probably have a career for many seasons in alpha tauri if he chooses to though if he continues like he has, because lets be honest here he could be a 1 season wonder also.
@@damon1691 Yuki doesn't need to be world champion material. That would imply Perez is, and we all know he isn't. The best alternative is Albon if we remove the others.

I wonder if Max prefers Perez and is pushing them to keep him simply because he's 'good enough' but not a real threat to Max. If they put someone better than Checo in the car, like Sainz or Albon (is Albon better? I dunno.) Max might not like the pressure. We saw how testy he (and Jos) got the past two years the moment that Checo was close in the point standings and winning races. Checo's performance has dipped since then, but he's still good enough in a great car to help win the constructor's championship. Red Bull might want someone better but not willing to draw the ire of Max because anyone better isn't going to be willing to just take Max's table scraps.
To me Albon definitely seems better, but not Sainz. All the "new guys" could do better than Sainz from what I can tell. Swapping Perez "just" to swap for Sainz, is a net zero.
