Anyone can apply without a passport and can attend in writing exam but to attend in the second phase (group discussion) everyone has to show his/her passport!

    Hello K...
What's the job situation like for new students over there in vaasa? Are there jobs and how long does it take on the average to get one.
    Thanks and regards

Being new student alone isn't any professional qualification or job profile. New students tend to be unqualified workers even in their own field, until they have progressed in their studies.
Students also don't have time to work full-time.
That all together makes their job opportunities more limited.
Foreign students mostly don't know locals languages, which is an additional difficulty in finding suitable jobs.
Finding employment with those handicaps depends on the persons own personal qualities like how active they are in their job seeking and how fast they can learn and adapt to new challenges. People are different. Something what feels easy to someone can be difficult for others.
One should almost never expect to find employment fast. It is also a major requirement for getting a residence permit for studies that you have what is considered sufficient funds for living in Finland for the first year.

@@just42tube you're very right on this....
A student shouldn't depend on that.
That's why having the living cost for at least a year (6720euros) before applying for residence permit is non-negotiable.
But it's nice when students can work in their free time to make a little extra money. (As they're permitted to by law)
But just as you've pointed out, it's very key to manage expectations.
Thanks so much for taking out time to respond.
      Best regards.

Students in higher education manage their time themselves without well defined study vs. free time.
Student is also responsible for selecting many courses and their timing. They have some given structure, but there is no predefined free time.
It can be a very good idea to concentrate to the studies at least at the beginning. Later one should seek for job opportunities to gain beneficial experiences in the field they study and and learning other skills like get practice on languages and workplace skills.

I have studied in two Finnish higher education institutions long time ago. I was at my time too interested in applying my skills working at different roles first in the universities where I studied and then in private businesses. I should have concentrated more on my studies. Several decades later, it is now easier for me to see that my priorities where not the best in the longer term.
