VW Tail lights not working - one easy fix

If a cluster of lights isn't working on your car and you've tried the bulbs and the fuses, before you spend money at a garage try this.

Thanks Adrian, a helpful video. To avoid having to close the tailgate and check from the inside with the parcel shelf removed, you can close the latch mechanism on the tailgate with a screwdriver (unlock later with the key), then you can leave the tailgate open when you swap the lamp clusters over to check them.
