  • 🎥In this vlog we take a day tour from Phnom Penh to Silk Island (also known as Koh Dach or Mekong Island) which is about 30 minutes drive and ferry ride from the centre of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
🏝Koh Dach or Silk Island is the perfect place to go, if you wish to take a day trip away from the bustling city of Phnom Penh. It's peaceful, tranquil and surrounded by vegetable farms, a historical silk weaving workshop as well as rice paddies.
🚜It's actually best known for being one of the most prominent centrea for silk weaving, handicrafts & farming in Cambodia.
🧵Cambodia has a long history of silk production, dating back over 1000 years. However nowadays, this age old trade struggles to survive. Although communities like the one we visit in our latest video, have managed to keep the tradition alive.
🛵We head to the islands highlight - the Silk weaving community center. It's an informative place to visit, if you want to learn about the silk making process. Tour guides are also available at a small fee.
🌉 Just across the bridge, we stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. We sampled their beef fried rice, beef “loc lak” & quenched our thirst with a fresh coconut. All for the reasonable price of $5.
🍃Exploring the surroundings was scenic & peaceful, with banana fields & chickens pecking the earth. We also crossed a ferry from Phnom penh to Silk island on our journey here and share our experiences with you.

    Also . . . . The places they visit

    Without hesitation. . . .
