    One of bikes i have is Tern Verge. Its like road bike of foldable. Its sometimes insane what accelerations it can achieve. It has 20 inch wheels in 451 format. I can recommend it to everyone

    I had this bike before. This bike isnt for racing, it goes fast but you work harder to go fast even with bigger gears and cranks. This doesnt mean that hes faster than those road bikes.

      Can you explain why please? I just sold my mountain bike I used for commuting in crazy uneven sidewalks and I'm looking at either fat bike or smaller folding bike. Would love to hear why you like this better. Thx!

      @@rashb3994 you can probably go for folding fat bike, best of both worlds lol

      @rockstopsthetraffic Před 5 měsíci

      @@rashb3994folding bikes have nice fast acceleration from a stop, which is very comfortable in stop-and-go city traffic.
      Top speed is lower, especially with the regular/cheaper drivetrains you get stock.

    She is having to work 3 times as hard to pass the larger wheel bikes

    • @Mingzhe583
      @Mingzhe583 Před 7 měsíci +2

      That's the disadvantage but smaller wheels can lead to better launching time Will you launch it 0 to 60 small wheel extremely small wheel 2-in wheel bicycle 0.9 seconds enormous wheel bike 111100 seconds to reach 0 to 60 miles per hour

    • @rockstopsthetraffic
      @rockstopsthetraffic Před 5 měsíci

      @@Mingzhe583indeed, city riding is often more comfortable on folders because of the relatively faster acceleration from a stop.
      Though with a properly-geared and fitted folder, you can do better with top speed as well, with the only losses being from more rolling resistance and less momentum (not gearing).

    • @rockstopsthetraffic
      @rockstopsthetraffic Před 5 měsíci

      Not necessarily 3 times as hard, but at a higher/less optimal cadence. Each of her (*faster) rotations is still easier than the big-wheel bikes.

    • @Mingzhe583
      @Mingzhe583 Před 5 měsíci

      @@rockstopsthetraffic relatively small wheel bikes are just too small for normal riders because people one bicycles were very big wheels they won't bicycles with like 45-in wheels they want bicycle with bigger wheels than their cars and so on 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

    • @rockstopsthetraffic
      @rockstopsthetraffic Před 5 měsíci

      @@Mingzhe583 what are you even talking about? There's absolutely a dedicated base of enthusiasts who make racing folders and mini-velos. The idea of going fast with a small wheel is nothing new.
      Besides, motorcycles are fast, and their wheels are small.

  • @rockstopsthetraffic
    @rockstopsthetraffic Před 5 měsíci +2

    You can absolutely modify a folding bike to be in the ballpark of a road bike, but this isn't quite it.
    Needs an (even) bigger chainring and wider-spaced cassette ratios. Bullhorn bars, or if you're ballin, a right-fold stem with drops, is also strongly recommended for a better stance, as is the correct seat position/seatpost.
    This is much more easily accomplished with an ISO 406mm (or ideally 451mm) bike though. 16" is just too small for feasible high-speed gearing, and doesn't play nice with medium/long-cage derailleurs.

    • @Mingzhe583
      @Mingzhe583 Před 4 měsíci

      Bromptons are just too small however they are light for their folding

    • @rockstopsthetraffic
      @rockstopsthetraffic Před 4 měsíci

      @@Mingzhe583 you have it backwards. The smallness and folding is desired, the regular Bromptons are relatively heavy.
