Just finished my S212 over the past two weekends. Couldn’t agree more. It’s worth the effort and work.

Where can you take these classes? And how many classes total do I have to take?

@@sebastianmoreno7567 in our case - our own certified instructors led the course, 2 days of classroom, and 2 days in the field on a shaded fuel break project. I know Colorado Fire Camp runs them as well. Depending on your state their are probably ways to sign up. On your cut day you have to make at least 3 satisfactory cuts, and become what is now a 3 faller trainee and your crew boss/superior will open a task book for you.

Do you guys ever engage any fires ? Or is it just fuel reduction

@@MegaLuis11 line staff/volunteers do IA on fires in-district but can go available for assignments around the country that have resource needs for anything from hand crew, tender/engine/brush, structure pro etc. We also have a dedicated wildland fire module/hand crew that we have the blessing of having in-district when not on assignment. Also a separate fuels crew that does mitigation work, fuel breaks etc - they also get the opportunity to sub in on the module as needed as well. The module is becoming WFM certified for this upcoming season.

Depends. Our wildland module will take members of the fuels crew out on assignment with them.
