one guy was training for a quarter of a year for this night and the other 11 days (including promo and press events) it was obvious who was going to win.. not so much of a statement as it is a foreseeable outcome
it's a statement because a KO in rd 1 means it wasn't a lack of training being tired or anything just the skill level wasn't there. Islam improved upon his last win, beat Volk by decision and now a KO. @@Gainsforlife

They understand the sacrifices, the pain, the highs and the lows and ultimately that their happiness is dependent on their opponents sadness. Max can't celebrate someone else's loss, because he empathises - Islam did to Volk what Volk did to him in a way.

L is hard to digest but a part of being the warrior is being tough mentally to go thru adversaries without losing your sanity over it .

Thanks for the content max. Long time fan of yours and in the last few years volk as well. Volk talking about his mental health in the post fight was more disturbing to me than seeing him get knocked out. I know it’s not your job and your competitors with each other but it might be worth while if you reached out and checked in on him. You’ve been around the game along time through ups and down and can relate I’m sure. got to look out for each other brother. Cheers

Max - huge fan. Favorite fighter of all time. That said, volk made me a fan of beating you (although the second fight you won) and to see that hurt a bit. Y’all are both savages and I honestly hope you reach out to the guy as per the post fight presser he sounds like he’s going through some stuff. Wish you both the best and for the 4th fight champ!!
I don't understand the No Contest from an illegal kick, but Yan did that exact same thing to Aljo and it was a DQ win for him and won the title from that

The ref literally told Yan "he's a downed opponent" and Yan threw the knee to the head right after, there's no way you can call that unintentional, so then it has to be ruled a DQ. Because Ankalaev didn't get that warning from the ref and he hadn't committed any other fouls up until then, he gets the benefit of doubt and it can be argued that it was unintentional making it a no contest.
Volk had a lot of trouble with open side kick in open stance, it looked like it completely messed with his feinting game and it leaves him vulnerable to it. Southpaw Holloway would do the same, change my mind. Was crazy seeing it happen that way, devastated we didn't even get to see Volk get his game started.
Def won't do the same to Volk. Max doesn't have the same threat of takedown
