I watch vods as well, particularly when it's a game I really like. (For me that'd be WoW Arena, RIsk of Rain 2 w/ that mod and thats prob it lol)
Honestly there's literally no difference between watching VODs and lives if you're a lurker anyway and like 90% of viewers are lurkers...

Its just crazy how a couple of years ago Soda, Lirik and Summit were the undisputed Kings and now they only get a tenth or fifth of viewers of the biggest streamers
Viewers that followed them in the day grew up and got jobs and families and debt and shit. No time to watch as much. New age of viewers are in and don't follow streamers that are pushing 30 LUL
Streamers that pull the most numbers these days are 99% of the time just a cringefest or borring af. Especially the ones with cancer as shit TTS on 24/7 with no filters
Also, the language barrier doesn’t help when most of the kids who watch twitch now are not even English speaking. Only exception is the Minecraft stans

I am from EU and i think it is deffinetly Time Zone, I do not mind listening to people with bad language, for me I can not watch a EU streamer becauase at the time I am at work. But when I come home there is Soda, sometimes Asmon and few others and they come like perfect time before bed time and i watch them before sleep
so this is why we're getting daily YT vids now..

Pretty sure we don't know these other language speaking content creators because of the algorithm feeding us only English speaking content creators. A part can be because there are more english speakers in the world, like in EU countries, many people speak English but in English speaking countries like the US almost nobody goes around speaking German. I have not heard 1 person speak German in person. There are many countries that speak Spanish so there are huge Spanish speaking content creators as well. That's what makes the most sense to me. But the algorithm is a huge part in how we perceive who is the "biggest" content creator.

@1:40 its simple. Europeans are better gamers but we are HORRIBLE performers. While NA is the complete opposite, you are mediocre at games at best, but damn you are among the best entertainers there are.
Also Language is a huge factor aswell, we speak a dozen different Languages in Europe which limits the amount of possible viewers drastically. And not everyone here is able to speak decent english either *cough French cough*
I wouldn't say europeans are horrible performers, it's just that it's hard to perform in a different language than your native.

EU frog here. Here in germany every streamer is just on this relateable lets copy NA trip. They recently even started copying GTA RP. And memes like the cringe orange are NOW starting to kick in here, yes the 2014 cringelord meme. The content here is so bad, but its seen as "abnormal" for me to know all this NA shit. My friends no nothing about twitter, the lgbtq drama, the stereotypes, they dont even know what edgy means. I think i only have one or two friends who know much but not as much as me. There's a shit ton of languages in Europe, so it's not as easy to be a huge streamer in your native language be cause the viewer base is smaller. And it's difficult to compete against native english speakers. I don't want to watch a European struggling with words 😂
