(NON SPONS, I BOUGHT THESE WITH MY OWN MOOLA)
Just want to let you know that this is just my opinion and demonstration with these oil pastels. Let me know your thoughts about these oil pastels. In my opinion they just did not meet my expectations. I used these sometimes in middle school but since I've delved into different brands these past couple years I've noticed that these are just not it for me especially considering that there are better quality oil pastels you can get for just a few dollars more.
PS I am not saying you cannot make great art with these. You can make art with whatever you want. I know some people only have access to these oil pastels and I want to let you know that you can still make amazing art with them I am just simply comparing them to different brands.

Sorry y'all This video is kinda quick and fast. I am trying to post as much as I can before spooky season!
YESSS SPOOKY SEASON👻🎃
What paper do you use? Thank you 😊
Please do chucky for spooky season!
This is the first video I've ever watched from you, so I'm excited to see more :)
Hereditary portrait! 😍
Him: "mhmm no"
Also him: literally draws a master piece
lmao for real tho 😂😂
Your “scratchy scratch” sounds a little bit Gollum-esque and I’m here for it 😂
i love how you showed the an alternative technique when using these oil pastels ! it shows that u rlly want to give them a chance even though they've been hard to work with. we love a fair and impartial kween !
Yass! Also I just have to say that your profile pic is too cute! 😭✨
I can’t be the only one that thinks the first one looked really good.
I think if you give an incredible artist a piece of 💩and tell them to create art… they will still create amazing art. It’s the talent.
i haven't watched the video yet but those are the oil pastels im currently using 👀 and im terrified that blackbean is gonna rip them to shreds 💀
😬😬😬 * sucky noise through clenched teeth *
He.. actually... did.. 😬🤣
Dude sammmeee
Hey if those are all you have you learn to work around their weaknesses
Great artists made portraits with a silver stick. You can do anything with enough prep and motivation
You could probably call the second technique "glazing" which describes how very transparent pigments are layered. e.g. pottery, watercolor, etc
These pastels are what we used in high school. This is probably why I always thought oil pastels were hard to use and didn’t look good. I will have to try other brands and give it a shot 😊
You're correct. This version of Cray Pas is a beginner's youth version. Cray Pas Expressionist oil pastels are like night and day to these. These have beautiful colors, but they are difficult to work with, once you've worked with better. But to be fair, he's doing a review - an honest review.😊
Same! Seeing the box brought on nostalgia.
So I still thought the first drawing was gorgeous!
I second this
The second picture was so good. You blended that green in there around the mouth very well 👀. I think there's a place for less opaque/ translucent mediums you just have to figure out how best to use them so this was such a good review for that. I actually find your reviews really helpful I just wish some of these pastels were available where I'm from! 🍬
i want to be your friend so bad!! your personality is everything
Because I’m personally not a “artist” persay,I would say the first one looks better. :)
Me too 🙃
I try to paint & practice alot but most of my paintings look like a 1st graders project but I just love painting! Anyway my point being I'm not an artist but I loved the first one as well! 🤷
I swear, I rewind 50x per video cause I love watching all the funniest bits over and over 😂 your channel ALWAYS makes me laugh, ty for doing that for us 😇
I’m glad I’m not the only one!
They're the first set oil pastels I bought and now I understand why I didn't feel good working with them. I landed on yout channel to find solutions and answers. Thanks for everything!
Your intros kill me every time! I would LOVE to see Elvira in your art style for Halloween!!!
Oh man, I cannot WAIT for your spooky season creativeness! 🖤🖤🖤
That second drawing was BANGING!! I love the shapes and values that you create! Like WHAT 😵💫
Eveytime I watch ur videos you give me serotonin 💕 It makes me happy to see someone doing what they love ☺
My day’s been pretty crummy, but this was such a refreshing and sweet way to wrap things up. Thank you for that, keep doing what you’re doin.
Also GOD DAMN HOW YOU USE COLORS IS AMAZZZINNGGG
Omg I’ve been using this brand and this was the tutorial I needed!!! Im so grateful for your videos, now I have a new technique to practice with. 💚🥺
I love both of them!!! You are amazingly talented! ❤️
I love your intros and narratives so much 😂 makes me feel like I’m actually talking to you
Hopped on YT readying myself to scroll through some "regular degular" type vids but noooooo.. here you are being awesome and sneaking to the top of my feed.
Thank you for posting today - Love your work and that honest, down-to-earth vibe you occasionally allow us to see behind all of your shenanigans. 😁 Keep being amazing. 👏
Seriously brilliant portraits! Just discovered your channel and found myself binge-watching your videos. Love your channel, how you add in a bit of humor, all the valuable tips and information you share. Real great 🙌
Thank you for reviewing this. Was using this brand. I now understand why i wasnt getting the same result following your videos
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR ART AND PERSONALITY. Im so happy I found you, I don't know how I found you ..but..I did so "yeeaayyy"
Loved both of your images, 2nd one was so weird and pretty! So cool that you trialled cheap crayons, it gives me hope with my own cheapy ones, I'll be pulling them out to have a go again!
Oh YAY! We missed you! Excellent review. I had the SAME experience with these. Bad layering and blending for me too, but I still like the art!
Omg benge watching your videos is the best thing that got me through in being qurantined.Luv your videos so much.
Favorite art channel atm. I’ve been bingeing your channel lmao
Your reviews are so helpful. Unlike other ordinary reviews showing forever making color swatches, you show how each brand can work in actual processes. It's so hard to resist the temptation to buy each and every one of the products you present (actually I did buy a Crayola set after watching your video for the first time).
Dude I'm so happy I stumbled across your youtube!! I follow you on tiktok and your videos are always such a big serotonin boost for me!
it’s so cool that you knew another technique to try and it worked!
That was great problem solving using the different technique,I really like how the second one came out!
I love you ❤️ your energy is infectious ❤️ Excited for spooky seasonnnnn!
Love your energy!!
You're my favourite! You just brighten my day
First of all, I love your videos. You are hilarious and you are so right about the sour gummy’s. Anything sour! I actually loved your first pic. It’s even more amazing that you did that with pastels that weren’t that great. All your work I think is amazing. So glad I found you on CZcams.
You are the only artist that I can watch on CZcams. You are so hilarious and talented. Keep it up!
OMG, I just found my stash of those exact oil pastels! 😂 Watching your video made me realized I've probably never used oil pastels properly. Thanks for the vid!
Love your energy and love watching your videos!!
the first drawing was a masterpiece! I loved the purple and yellow peaking out , it gave me royal vibes.
You explain things better than you think you do. I like that feathering technique.
found you through youtube shorts. love your process and style
Omg!!! I bought this set of pastels a couple of months ago bc i couldn’t find crayola and I’ve been using them. I had reallyyyy similar issues with blending and layering. I thought it was just me. This clears a lot of things up.
Also!!! For spooky season, I’d love to see more 3D type art like your photoshoot, coralline doll, and Halloween decoration videos you put out last year. I discovered your channel around that time and I adore those videos!! Some suggestions for Halloween characters to draw: Sally from Nightmare, Dracula since you did Frankenstein, and the witches from Hocus Pocus ☺️
You are so beautiful and funny and amazing! I love your videos so much!! I watch them after a hard day and then feel a lot better!! ❤️❤️
Found your channel a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've been early! Great video as always :)
You are freaking amazingggggg your style is so unique :O
Oh the candy is back! For spooky season, maybe turning fashion icons into monsters? ghoulish Dita von Teese, Zombie Naomi Cmabell -kinda stuff :)
"these oil pastels will not layer" that's basically my experience with mungyo's blue box "artist's" oil pastels too. And I bought them because I thought they would be opaque. Lol. But those can also make really smooth colors and gradients when you stack them on the paper. With these types of translucent, ghost ass oil pastels you have to work with light to dark instead of dark to light most of the time
I just bought them. In error. Regretting…
@@GreenlifeFin yep LOLOL
@@silverkip2992 I painted a dog today. It came out surprisingly good! I kept the few colors I used in my hands and suddenly I could blend the colors quite a lot. Maybe they just needed a bit of warmth and the right paper with structure. But yes, could not really add much light on dark…
0:08 “It’s 1 am what are you doing in my house??”
I WANT WAFFLE FRIES
The second face was gorgeous. Being able to see the crosshatching and strokes gave it a different feel. Your style is so pronounced! I need to work on evolving my style, I wish to one day be as good as you.
Love the colours in the 2nd face.😍
You're one of the best CZcamsrs
I love your vids because they are the perfect mix of art for art and youtube creator-whatever-entertainment.
You’re adorable! You crack me up AND I learn something. Win win!
WOW!! I don't know why I got recommended this video, but I'm hella glad I did!!! New subscriber!!
Been waiting for you to review them they're one of my faves oil pastels to use.
Lmao so it turned out its that craypas thats making my art look bad, ill buy other brands pfft!
They both turned out great!
I like both drawings, so talented. 🧡
Love all your videos ❤️
You gots ta try Candy Corn Nerds!!! My new favorite thang!!!! You'll love em, you always seem to enjoy all the candies i LOVE so I'm positive you'll be obsessed!!🤘
Love your personality so much
I start teaching tomorrow and spent 12 hours at work today. Coming home to this was a heaven-sent blessing. And TWO beautiful pieces to enjoy? Buh-less-ing!
Good luck tomorrow!
Thanks for the Crayola pastel hook up. They are affordable and blend-able. Perfect for art supply junky like me. I did some pastel in high school which was eons ago. And wanted to ease back into it.. I tried artist loft and I was so not happy. I mainly do acrylic and watercolor. Pastels are fun and I can keep working without having to watch paint dry. Your work is beautiful and you are super talented. Stay Juicy.
OMG it's 5am here haha thankyou for this new video always love your energy♡
Yessss let's go a new video!
You inspire me!
Huh I actually am really into the first one! Its definitely different than youre usual vibe but its cool its kind of like a pastel muted version like gives me a very mellow calm feeling. The feelings of both are really nice like I really like both!!
I love the effects in the first drawing. The sgrafitto was very nicely done. The second work is more of a semi blend and also nicely done. I vote for the first one.
The pieces still came out beautifully
I would love to see you review the Paul Rubens oil pastels and the Faber-Castell Creative Studio oil pastels!
Alot of famous artists left the under painting showing through. It adds character to the piece. Think Basquiat.
Thanks for Sharing! I'm looking forward to seeing your spooky episodes.
The first one is really nice! The scratches show up well
They both look great.
I love the 1st one!
i loooove that blurry effect in the second one
Thus is pretty strange to me, because I had achieved my most brilliant portrait with them, but they should be working on watercolour paper such as ARCHE cold press with a colours shaper mainly, and I had excellent results too with Pentel art set of #50 for kids on the back of canvas at DOLLARS TREE and they are amazingly on Somerset watercolour paper 270gsm! ! The Cray-Pas expressionist are more pigmented than Sakura Cray-Pas juniors! Hope it will be useful. I am loving to work with Mungyo gallery soft oil pastels mostly and I had experiented over 26 brands throughout the world!
Oh ya, and I want to see some spooky season sketches!!!
I laugh alot watchin your videos sometimes I don't even know why😂😂 u made my day ❤
You are too fun. I so enjoy your videos
I dont comment much but i watch all ur videos and love them! & u ofc 💖🍬🍫🍭🍩 im def tryinf those gummies they are right up my ally
I feel like it’s been *so* long since we’ve seen you eat candy 🥰 So worth sneaking in at 1am…..
I used your mixed color technique and squinting. The self portrait is kind of muddy, but the squinting really helped!!!!!!!. It’s a very small self portrait I did using color pencils, nice ones, faber castle polychromos oil based. I don’t know how to do what you do, it’ll take a lot of practice. But the squinting made a huge difference. Ty.:)🍬
Thank you for this review I'm just staring out in oilpastel just wanted a student grade to learn on, Jerry's artarama had metallic oil pastel in sake fir 24.00 so I grab them. But immalso gonna grab the crayola oil pastel as I'm like you if a product is expensive than I hored them...thank you for letting me come in your art studio at 439am my time...many art blessing to you...
I really like your style they are both lovey but there is something beautiful about the second drawing.
I LOVE the 1st one a lot
I used to use those when i was in school. Especially in High School. Love those! And you are very critical of yourself. lol
Du Québec in Canada 🇨🇦! I am following you since the two years! I love you send of humor! 😊❤
I would love to see you do the Bride of Frankenstein for Spooky season 😊
I might get those, I like the translucent effect.
i actually really like both of them!
You should do like your own version of nightmare before Christmas or maybe The Corpse Bride? I'm late but I think that would be cool especially with all the different colors you'll use and different approach you could take to blandish designs with your art style! Btw love the first one because you went in the passion second ones good cause you went in with a technique 😌
THE FIRST PICTURE IS GOOD !!!
I just found your page and have been "catching up." I find you both entertaining and inspirational. Have you done a review on Paul Rubens oil pastels? I would love to see it if you have. Also, a paper for oil pastels review? If you have already, could you please point me in that direction? Thanks in advance!
Yeah…I bought some of those from Staples. I gave them away the same day LOL
I’m a lefty, too 🥰👍🏽
I LIKE THE SECOND PIC TO !!!
I would really like to see color swatches of the pentel and cray-pas. I get the feeling that in the pentel colors they are all kind of the same shade of each color, while the cray pas seems more varied.
I love both drawings
