People don't want to say it but Shaq always credits his championships to Kobe, because when shaq was with orlando magic he was not winning, for years until Jerry West brought Shaq and they told him they had a young kid that was going to help him win titles and rings, that kid was Kobe Bryant!

The difference in this situation is , Kobe was the younger of Shaq and Kobe and had time and his prime ahead of him to try and win another Chip , In this KD Steph Situation Steph is the younger of the Two and has the more durable body and play style and he really doesn't look like he'll be slowing down any time soon so it'll be very interesting to see if KD can Out do Steph .... @@lenoncho3777 Sorry to nitpick but Both Curry and KD are past their peaks and arguably past their primes. I just say this because I see this a lot. They are both still great players. Look at what Steph did. But neither one will ever be All NBA first team or win an MVP ever again. Although that is not the only criteria.Some players like Shaq in fact still were the best at their position past their prime. Prime is usually 23-29/30 some rarely get mvps past their prime like Jordan and Malone.
Kobe here is not only in his prime but at his absolute apex and Shaq was past his prime. Curry had already won a championship as clearly the best player on his team before Durant came.

He had his senior year of college during the season instead of over the off-season and his parents had a divorce. As we saw by February, it was just a phase.

I think you got it all backwords. Shaquille O'Neal won three finals MVPs with Kobe Bryant. Kevin Durant won two finals MVPs with Steph Curry.. Shaq left the Lakers and Kd left the Warriors.
Steph Curry was criticized of the finals MVP more importantly the media making the unfair narrative that Steph Curry and the Warriors can't win without KD.. until 2 years later the Warriors reclaimed the NBA Championship and steph finally got his first Finals MVP.
Kobe Bryant on the other hand he had the same criticism and the unfair narrative that the media kept saying that Kobe can't win without Shaq? 5 years later.. the Lakers reclaimed the NBA Championship once again as for Kobe he won the finals MVP without Shaq..

For '19 they also had by far the best team although Lebron did perform consistently well.
However Steph winning two without KD does make the 2 he won with KD legit. Not in a sense of that those 2 chips mean as much as the ones without KD of course.
I'll add that KD winning wouldnt make his move to GS soft, but would solidify his career, especially since during the finals especially during close games, it was virtually always KD who was the best player on the flood.

I won't ever say he'll never get another chip, but KD has one chip and his narrative wasn't originally that he couldn't win without Dubs, but that he could (falsely that the Dubs couldn't win without him) and was the reason they were winning and that was _never_ truth.
The constant forgetting or desire to forget that the Dubs won the 2015 chip without him is either something the critics want to bury or KD started to smoke, or both. He can't serve two masters: the fickle spectators or the home team fans. Who cares what either think...play.
KD is cursed with hubris. Fan respect is earned via loyalty. He is unstable and cannot commit to a team. He says one thing, but luggage stamps say otherwise.
KD is an overly emotional dude in a game that would never accept this kind of thin skin from a player like Steph. The truth is Kobe is the blueprint for Steph. KD is talking to some genie or djinn that is massaging his ego and getting in the way of his dreams to have a team/family that makes room for him to play the game he loves. This is a bit of a stretch to me. KD is 34, Kobe was maybe ten years younger. He doesn’t have time to turn it around. He also had a far better teammate in Westbrook who was not in the least bit unreliable, at least not in the sense of Kyrie and Smush. Most of all Kobe stayed despite those challenges and saw it through whereas Durant has a history of bailing when shit gets tough and building the most stacked teams in the history of the NBA. I think he had fucked his legacy beyond any likely chance of repair
