Lol... no need to exaggerate. I don't know that many cars from earlier days, but among contemporary cars, the Bentley Bentayga and new Toyota Prius is waay uglier than this.
I saw on in person, the 570s is pretty slick in person. It looks awesome, however I don't think it has what it takes to win. My money is on the GT350R.

Guys, just remember that in the 2015 MT Best Driver's Car, they said: "Many, if not most of the owners who buy these kinds of track-capable cars will drive it just on the streets" so it's not just about the track times. e.g. Miata - came close even though it was probably one of the slower cars on the track.

Motor Trend best driver's car 2016 is the Mclaren 570S... i think it might be the Shelby GT350R since it's American and sounds better.

Love this car. Funny how journalists keep talking about it like it's actually in the same class as other $180k cars. It's a full blown supercar for exotic sports car money.

iv been watching these comps for years now and while very entertaining you get the gist who's going to win pretty quick:350r will win best drivers car because it's American and the mclaren will win the drag race because it's a mclaren.

last year was the AMG GT S, 2014 was the Camaro Z/28 and I think the few years before that were Porsche's

Oddly enough, It couldn't beat the GT3 RS which did a 1:33.2. But that's still impressive for the Mac.
The GT3 RS is a buttoned down track car. Mclaren went in the other direction with this, specifically stating that it is not meant for the track.
Ethanmeister The GT is the one not meant for the track. And I thought it'd be closer to it considering Randy complained about the understeer flaws of the RS and the snap oversteer it had. I expected it to beat the C6 Z06 (Centennial) by about half a second.
Still, Anything below 1:35 is great!

"Least expensive" not cheap well worded Johnny.
From the current crop the McLaren 570S is the one to have. Less faff more fun but still lacks the completely organic feel you get from a Lotus Evora 400, Noble M600 or Ultima GTR Evolution. Just like the F1 the 570S is a super car you can go shopping in.
the corner entry loosness on right turns can be balanced out if u have a passenger in the front seat, maybe in the right hand drive versions, the looseness is on the left
these hot laps would do us better if we had some context of the numbers. like where does this car stack up against other cars on this same track..we know this car is fast but how fast...great job on the vid guys beautiful car...

what spec did you get? I had mine for about 2 months, silver with black alcantara inside. Got most of the carbon fiber options. Its a great car and joy to drive. Congrats to you!
The only option I add from the base model is carbon fiber kit. It is a great car and affordable in its class. Doesn't like my LP650, 570s can be a daily supercar car!

It has more power, more aero, and stickier tyres. In fact i'd be shocked if the 570S was faster.
talking about C6 !! Z06. less aero, less power, but sill faster. Tirewise, the PZero Corsa treadwear 80, sticky as the Vettes Michelin Cups.
Ron 8 Le Mans GT Victories in 13 years certainly have taught Chevrolet Team a thing or two about building sports cars.
That you just cannot get from F1 or Indy which Chevrolet dominates.

Holy Sh*t I expected this car to do 1:37 but my F*** this things is faster than a AMG GTS. Whao.
Why would you expect such a horrible time? It's 500 pounds lighter and has about 70bhp up on the AMG. The Mcclaren should be faster; in fact, I'm a little disappointed that it didn't run a 1:33 at the very least.

the car is build as a GT car, not all out track star. I am sure a track version will run a much faster time.Either way, that time is crazy fast none the less.
SpyderRios Wrong. The 570 gt is the gt car. This is the drivers/street version. A track version is coming soon.

The GTS is still the best... It has everything. All the other contenders compromise in order to get more speed.

A MR that has great traction and is made in Britain? Basically this thing is a dual clutch Lotus exige with tons more hp&torque, wonder what well the time be if it was on more aggressive rubber. Very impressive for a "entry" level, bravo McLaren!

I expected a much faster time than that of the AMG; considering the 500 weight advantage and the extra horsepower. The AMG continues to impress me.
AMG is definitely underrated. It's A LOT of car for the money.

Ive just spent the last 20 mins playing this side by side with the audi r8 video. If you synchronize both stopwatches at the beginning of the lap (slow down the video to do this), they are out of sync at the end of the lap and the audi's stopwatch is slower. Im not saying MT sped up the audi's lap, or sped up the 570s' stopwatch. But it is interesting...

Yes, quite a hiatus. That very word has since been redefined. If you look it up in a modern dictionary, you'll just see a photo of an F1, a white gap, and then a photo of a MP4-12C.
Lets just say in this track battle the NSX and R8 are gonna get the W.
I was actually expecting this 570S to be faster than that. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely fast. But I always get the sense that McLaren underrates their cars and they end up being stupidly fast. Which this car is I suppose. But only about a second faster than the AMG GT-S? I know a second is a second in the racing world, but I don't know if it's worth the price difference. Maybe in exclusivity.

Not a counter point but this one is part of the sports series. They said its their first car not to chase lap times but the thrill of driving. Think of it as a 911 R. Not quicker than a GT3 but I've heard just amazing to drive. It's like sports car vs race car.

Did anyone notice that the AMG GT S has a 5 mph higher speed into Turn 1 than both the Shelby and the M4, even though they have the same power to weight ratio? And that the 570S' speed into Turn 1 is just 1 mph higher, even though it has a considerable better power to weight ration on paper? Obviously, Mercedes understates their power figures by a LOT. The GT S in reality probably has around 600hp, rather than 500.
At this price point, I'd doubt they'd be overly conservative in their rating. Gearing might also play into your observation. Sweet car, nonetheless!

I didn't know they had different Corsa tires? The Viper T/A's Corsa's tread is different (like lambo's tires) and has a 60 AA A rating.
