I think he just simplified it, since 8x²/2 can also be 4x². But you can still arrive at the same answer if you stay at 8x²/2.
It is actually the integral of 8x. The exponent of x is 1, 1+1 is 2 that's why we need to divide it by 2 and it become 8x² / 2 or 4x².
Sir sabi niyo po may exception sa disc at other two methods, bakit yung axis of rotation sa washer method ay x axis, bakit dx pero sabi niyo dapat dy?

Pero sa case ni sir gamit nya is horizontal differential which is parallel sa axis of rotation kaya obligado mag cylindrical method
