I need to get this off my chest, I spilled a pint of chocolate ice cream on mine, pleasd pray for my cleaning process and thank you for making this video
You're welcome. Sorry to hear that happened.... you should be fine.... just follow the video. Spread the word about the channel.
I really appreciate this tutorial video. A friend of mine just inherited three Daiwa Black Gold spinning reels that need a good servicing. This video will be a great help.
Tad
Thanks for watching, Tad! Let him/her know about the channel... I have both the older and newer style BG's servicing posted in my library. Next video up.... "Rotor play".
My grnadfather dropped my reel at the beach ant it got so full of sand it was even in the gear box, thank you for this! super helpful! now im able to keep fishing thasnks to this video!
You're welcome and thanks for watching! Glad to hear it helped. Now all you have to do is keep the reel away from your grandfather!🙂
Another great tutorial on a pair of reels that I just got in to clean up. Thanks!
Thanks Chris! Glad it helped.
Life saving tip. Thx

Thanks brother that helped so much!!!
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear it helped. Spread the word about the channel.
I was following your videos and copying your technique! it was so much easier to solve a squeaky sound I had inside the motor! it is absolutely gone! the only think I notice is that it seems a bit heavier when reeling! I believe it just a matter of patience and it becomes normal again! thank you very much for such an instructive video!!!
You're welcome and thanks for watching! Glad to hear it helped. Try double-checking the lock spring for the bearing on the main gear, and/or the number of shims on the main gear regarding the feel.
Good job my friend, on that reel as always Barry 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
Thanks Jan!
I was servicing my BG6500 a couple weeks ago and the main shaft was bent. So, I ordered a new main shaft from Daiwa US in California. Shaft came in like 4 days, awesome. I go to put the pinion gear on the shaft and it doesn't want to go. At first I thought I put the old shaft back in but then I saw that it was the new one. I took it out and the pinion just wouldn't go down all the way. Brand new, I was stumped. Well, it turns out there was a little nick in the main shaft and a tiny little burr because of it. I really didn't feel like doing the right thing and returning it. So I just took some 600 grit sandpaper and removed the little burr sticking up. Went 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit and then buffed it on a wheel. Works perfectly now but man I was stumped. I actually could only feel it if I used my finger nail. I guess the tolerances were pretty tight for it to matter but it did.
Thanks for the input, Jeff! Yes, I find it happens more around where they cut the section to support the click gear, but it IS tricky sometimes in that it can be difficult to see or even feel..... only when try to put the pinion gear on is there a clue that something's off.
Great video.. Thank you from Northern Ireland🍀
Thanks for the love from Northern Ireland, Simon! Glad to hear it helped. More vids to come! Stay tuned.
Super reel for the money.!!!!!!!GOOD WATCH.:)
Great tutorial!! My reel still feels sticky. Like it’s grinding. Especially at the point where the shaft changes direction from going to down. Any ideas?
Thanks for checking out the video. I'm assuming you decided to service your reel because you were having this issue prior to the service. Sounds like it may be a bent main shaft, but it could also be pinion stack bearings and/or possibly even abnormal wear on your drive gear. Check those things. The higher the spool is, the more load it puts on the shaft, bearings, gears, etc. Hope that helps.
I have this problem when I reel it makes a ticking noise when the line is tight I was wondering if you knew what that could be. I took the whole reel apart and it’s still doing it. Thank you
Hi, check this video out.... maybe it can help:

Great video. Subscribed
Thanks Capt! More vids to come! Are you predominantly inshore or offshore?
Solid reels just don't keep saltwater out as well as the more expensive options. If you're willing to really focus on maintaining it, these reels are great. Lots of big fish caught on these reels here in Florida. Also more than a few with very noisy bearings and the saltwater finds it's way in!
Thanks for checking out the video and your input. Spread the word about the channel. More vids to come.
There’s a screw locking my main gear in that I can’t get out. But I see this reel doesn’t have one. It’s starting to strip and I’m not sure how to get it out
Thanks for checking out the video. Are you asking a question or making a statement?
@@TSGReelService sorry I was confused… figured it out! Thanks for the video. My bg is like brand new again
@@Semper.Reefing how did you take it off? I have the same problem
@@lordmoldybutt36 you really can’t miss any steps. Gotta pull the rod out of it
Whats your opinion on the best reel and the worse reel from a reel service point of view?
Thanks for checking out the video. Thanks Penn Spinfshers/Battles, etc are quite easy to service if there are no seized parts. A more difficult reel would be something like a Stella or the Penn International 80S or 80SW, where you may need several attempts at fine tuning the two-speed..... which can take hours.
This might be a stupid question but can I use ceramic break lubricant as reel grease?
Thanks for checking out the video. I wouldn't. Spread the word about the channel.
Hi , i lost the tiny ball barring lock that you needed the glasses for, would that be a problem
Hi, yes.
Sembra aver notato anno produzione bg differenza meccanica?? Troppi giochi
I have the same reel but the main problem with this reel is the line roller bearing which is dead for me and clicker broken after one year of use.
Thanks for watching! These reels seem to need regular love to stay in shape.
Did you make that bearing puller or purchase it? If so where could I find one?
I got it from Ernie at bearing bad. bearingbadtool@gmail.com
@@TSGReelService I contacted Ernie in an E-Mail and I will call to order some of his bearing pullers. Thank you for the information.
@@fiorevitola880 you're welcome and no worries. You'll like then.
Get a scratch all to get little springs out
Thanks for watching and your input.
@@TSGReelService it’s apparent after painfully watching some of your videos you have no clue on how to repair and service any type of fishing reel.
Before I retired completely I was doing over 1000 reels a year. I was the number one parts purchaser of Penn parts two years in a row.
Hell you don’t even know the correct name of the parts. Get a Starrett SS scratch all. It’s used many times to move little things around.
You need a proper set of ground flat screwdrivers. Wiha makes the best.
You need a set if nut drivers for handle and rotor nuts. No Pliers no Crescent wrench
You need a set of bearing pullers. Reelspeed makes the best. They are made to pull bearings out of a blind hole.
Get rid of that crappy Penn grease. Use Yamaha Marine grease on conventional and some spinning reels.
When you do trolling reels you must service the bearings. They have to be opened cleaned and checked. If you feel anything when turning they are no good.
Spool bearings get oiled drive bearings get marine grease.
What grease do you use to re-grease it?
Penn
Blue Penn grease for most places ,
Purple grease from Penn for colder places . 😉👍
Is 5000 same?
Thanks for watching! Pretty much.
@@TSGReelService thanks for the video. Very informative
