I love the army rule for grey knights, but wish we had more psychic shooting. Like a smite or something on most profiles.
Ordo Malleus struggles when they have to stop being Mega Epic Heroes for a moment and start actually doing the work to make the galaxy safe.
Not having a weapon profile for hammers really sucks tbh
Yep. S6 being their melee cap is pretty miserable
really wish they had given the squads the ability to take one of them per or maybe only some of the more elite squads the ability to take one or two per 5 members
Losing the hammers and having 0AP on storm bolters is a rough combination to have to adjust to. Played my GKs over the weekend and was astounded at how poorly everything other than vehicle mounted lascannons actually kill things.
Basically have to rely on Termi librarians to smite tanks off the feild
Oh boy. Grey Knights vs the Necromancer Cults :D
On Saturday I watch a 10th ed game of Necrons vs Genestealer Cults. Narratively it made us chuckle. Necrons raise from their Tombs after centuries / millennia of sleep. Genestealer Cults wait in hiding for generations waiting for the right moment to make an uprising against the indigenous species. So decided both armies surprised each other when they came out of hiding at the same time, and some Imperial farmers were sitting on a hill with sandwiches cheering them on, occasionally shouting at them to get off their land. :D
Mists of Deimos will work on a GK Dreadnought, but it will only be able to move up to 6", not bounce into strategic reserves since that can only happen if the unit has Deep Strike. So the dreadnought shuffle will only work to shuffle behind a wall, and not shuffle behind a wall then shuffle out from behind another wall.
Reductor Saboteur bombs thing is once per battle and only works on a 2+.
Only models that are wholly within a ruin can shoot out of it. Therefore because ruins follow the rule of dumb, only one terminator could have shot when they shot at the cult bomb guy.
DK and GMDK has Deep strike.
Rock grinder dealing 4 mortals to a termie squad:
“I don’t have the fire, but I do have the mass!”
So happy to see Derek back on the channel! Im glad you guys are enjoying 10th ed, your batreps are so digestible. It helps me pick up the system quicker than reading the rules if im to ne honest.
The Narthecium can be used in deep strike :)
Nope
Love all the 10th content! Can’t wait for more! WE ARE THE HAMMER!!!
Looking forward to seeing how the next one goes with more Apothecaries.
Great to see more battle reports.
Sick video. I’m really keen to see a full run down of the index from you !
Yay Derek!
1:25 was a good moment
Derek is so hot right now.
You spoil us sir! Two videos in one week?! 😮
Great game! Losing the 5+ FNP is a killer for the Sons of Titan. WE R THE…hammer..?? Glad to see Crowe and the boys putting the smack down. Hopefully you’ll include Draigo with some paladins…that also get 4 attacks each :-). Looking forward to seeing some more games, keep it up.
Oh boy it's time for some shmoovement
Blink and I'm gone :D
Matches like these showcase the importance of a chaplain in Grey knights
So excited for your upcoming battle reports
Yeeeeaaaaaah, The Cult rises!!!! Love GSC!
I love your channel! I also play grey knights, and looking at you playing feels like it's me play. I roll just as bad and my reactions is just the same as yours 😅🤣
The dice are fickle, but fun is in our own hands.
I love the bat reps. You should include the lists you and your opponent play that day in the notes.
The judiciar sword on the unit with castellan crowe is epic. Gonna have to bring out the Grey knights again here soon
Thx buddies, very didactic
Great game cheers
I'm planning to bring a Bro Champ with a squad of Strikes whenever I bring my Bro Cap - I think it could work well both for the sticky objectives & character hunting. I know you're "Rah-rah, Terminators!", but thematically, I've always thought their role as bodyguard for the Brotherhood Captain as well as their status as an unparalleled warrior with a blade is pretty rad! I'd love to see you model something up & try it out in a list - I think you're missing out on a cool character.
Also, I agree 100% on not bringing 3 Librarians. Even worse - we could technically bring 7 Grandmasters, 4 Brotherhood Captains & Draigo in a single list...
One way I've seen people deal with regening units it to kill them down to the last couple models to leave them crippled and not able to return. Works on Guard too.
Man and it works well! I recently had a Guard game where my Opponent just suddenly stopped rolling well and could not kill my guardsquads AFTER reducing them to around 5 models or so even when he tried. He was very frustrated at that while I was silently BEGGING him to finally kill one of my squads so I can bring back a fresh new Blob of 20! hahaha.
When it's stealers turn he should use the camera
Me "Look at this disney prince looking dude on this warhammer channel" My spouse "Whats chad McChin doing in that game store, shouldn't he be modeling outdoor wear?" Me laughing, "I know right? GW should hire him and Cavill to advertise the new set." spouse "That would certainly bring in the middle aged ladies to the hobby"
Rough day to be a terminator.
GSC seems so ridicilously powerful after seeing this battle report. That's borderline broken.
Love the channel mate, im starting to feel we are still paying for the sins of the father, e.i matt ward.
Love the tables
GSC getting horrific! I would park that Dread next to 2 hidden Purgation Squads, 1 with 4 Psycannons and 1 with 4 Psilencers, Indirect Fire is not cheesy against the GSC :)
I think you could have used Mists of Deimos on Simandus' unit to yeet them out of there when he fell back to shoot them into oblivion. Thanks for keeping the spirit of Grey Knights alive!
Could have, but I was hoping to survive and contest that point. Foolish of me!
Y’all got quite a few rules messed. The mortals from the librarian back firming goes on the unit, not him directly, and they get to 4+ feel no pain them due to his ability.
The Librarian actually doesn't have a FNP against mortals! It's against Psychic Attacks.
And yeah, we're still learning the new edition. That's what all these games are for!
@@onelastblade3913 Good news! Page 38 of the core rules. “If a Psychic weapon or ability causes any unit to suffer one or more wounds, each of those wounds is considered to have been inflicted by a Psychic Attack.” The 6/16 rules commentary also confirmed that any MWs from a Psychic ability are Psychic Attacks.
1:07:10 The targeted units must
have the Deep Strike ability and "cannot be
within Engagement Range" of any enemy
units when targeted.
so not possible because of engagement range?
How does the Inquistor work to get back a Strategem? Can that work if attached to a Psyckr unit?
Hey Stephan where did you get those cool GK dice? they look awesome and I would love to get some.
Both "nothing personell, kid" armies
Watch out bro. Those jean stealers will take your pants
Doesn't the dreadnought give a aura of reroll 1 to hit and wound ?
He does, and I totally forgot about that!
@@onelastblade3913 i guessed so 😂
I don't play GK but a friend of mine does and i remember him telling me about it all exitedly
More recent to the channel but love your stuff! Can I ask where you are based out of but im close to tacoma and excited to maybe see you at the tournament!
Seattle! I own a Warhammer bar called Waystone Wargaming Speakeasy. If you're ever in town, you should check us out!
32:40 I know it is stupid, but as per GWs designer's note, that unit is not wholly within the ruin and can therefore not shoot anything outside of the ruins.
its not stupid imo. I think all models wholly within should be able to shoot and not those partly outside. You should have to commit to be able to take out a unit hiding in ruins and not just put a toanail through the door to be able to shred
@Marmite037 I would agree with you if this would cut both ways. As it stands now, that terminator squad couldn't have fired because of the inquisitor outside the ruins, but they could have been shot no problem by the units outside the ruins. I don't see the value in ignoring true line of sight onesided like that.
Almost! This rule is done on a model by model basis, so some of my Terminators could shoot and others couldn't. In either case, I did it wrong, so thanks for the observation!
May need a FAQ, but I would expect the ruling on "Out of Phase Actions" in the rules commentary to apply to the Atlan Jackal's demolition ability. If an ability triggers an action out-of-phase (e.g. moving in the shooting phase), you do not automatically trigger any other rules associated with that action. The example in the document is firing overwatch with a Whirlwind does not trigger the pinning rule for that shooting attack. My read would be that the same limitation applies to the Jackals. They can move out of phase, but don't get to throw demolition charges as part of those moves.
The Atalan Jackals’ ability is actually quite different to the whirlwind ability in the example. The Whirlwind’s specifies that it only happens “in your shooting phase, after this model has shot” which is the piece that prevents overwatch from triggering it in other phases. The Jackals Demolition Run, however, reads “Each time this unit ends a Normal Move, you can select one enemy unit within 6” of and visible to this unit and roll one d6 for each model in this unit: for each 4+, than enemy unit suffers 1 mortal wound.”
Because the ability itself is not locked to your movement phase it triggers after any Normal Move ends: once for their standard movement phase move, once from the Jackal Alphus’s Master Outrider granting a Normal Move after the unit shoots, and finally by the Normal Move granted from the Prowling Agitant enhancement if an enemy unit ends a move within 9”.
@@dereklancashire1731I really doubt GW wants people to have to read that closely in the new “simpler” 40K to figure out what triggers when, so I expect a FAQ one way or another to clarify this, or else an errata to clean up inconsistent wording of similar rules in the indexes.
i was really trying to get over my anger from reading the stupid core ruleset of 10th edition and wanted to watch your video with a positive approach, but...
man, i`m so sorry to write comment about this...
you were not able to shoot the saboteur on turn one, because you were not WHOLY within the terrain feature
damn, i cannot even watch batreps (playing is so much pain now) without being angry at GW how stupid the 10ed rules are.
also 1:00:55 the damage is passed as mortals, so should've rolled all 10 of those
nevertheless, love to see Derek back on the channel. you guys are the best and hopefully we'll see more batreps soon.
what was the rule that lets Grey Knights role to get their CP back? I've missed that in the rules somewhere!
I attached an Inquisitor to a squad of Terminators! Inquisitor get CP back on a 3+.
GSC seems touch OP to me!..
They have so many tricks and buffs it's kinda crazy..
I think someone at GW who was involved in the creating the 10th ed rules is a hardcore GSC player!!..
looks like you had fun! hows the land raider doing?
Its job! Killing heretics and holding the line.
Wait I thought with the Purifying Flame anti infantry +2 makes it so those 2s are all critical wounds and critical wounds is mortals so wouldn't it be doing mortals instead of just ap 1 and 1 dmg? Or did I misunderstand something while watching?
Critical Wounds are only mortals if the weapon has the Devastating Wounds ability.
Assault cannons don´t have Ap-1 anymore.
Oh, wow, you're totally right! Good catch!
Hey One Last Blade in your First Turn the Terminatorsquad firing into the jackals made to many ranged attacks in the squad, 'cause the rules for visibility and LOS in case of ruin terrain says you have to be wholly withinnthe terrain feature to get line of sight trough it. There was only one terminator of the squad wholly within.
Well i'm an Idiot... Not the jackals the Saboteur...
1:00:00 Terminators have 4 attacks each
I know! I learned that after this game, and it makes me excited to play again!
Btw did you notice that the 40k app does not count the apothecaries and banner bearers as models for the purposes of special weapons? So paladin squad of 5 man can only have one special weapon on the banner bearer if they include one.
The app lets you have 3 special weapons in a 5 man paladin unit, 2 on the paladins and 1 on the paladin ancient
I swear your dice are loaded in the wrong way.
How many points did the GSC get back? After the intro I skipped to the end wasn't surprised to hear 2 models where left of the Grey knights by end turn 3. Had the same happen in a tourney vs Eldar yesterday.
Fighting GSC feel more like a 2k vs 3k+ match.
I got back about 300 points of acolytes through Cult Ambush by the end of the game, as well as restoring 10-ish neophytes to one squad (so about another 80). It feels like an ability that snowballs if you can’t get ahead of it early by removing blips.
1:15:04 there was another fail in the box. the 2 in the right corner.
The Inquisitors unit that fired during the first turn, was not completely wholly within the terrain, thus could not see the the saboteur.
Yeah! Only certain models could shoot. Learning!
@@onelastblade3913 No worries! We are all learning. I got my first RTT in 2 weeks. going to be a fun learning experience.
Are dreadknights not good this edition?
They're very expensive and they don't have the offensive output to match. Not hopeless, just need some points adjustments.
i wonder why some of these codexes are so much better point efficient and better rules then us. C tier at best. shesh.
Dreadnoughts give a 6" aura of rerolls to infantry. We are the least point efficient army in the indexes. There is nothing to be afraid of in Grey Knights anymore. We don't do mortal wounds. We don't smite. Most of our abilities are meh. Plus, we are no more durable than regular marines.
59:50 - shouldn’t that be 4 mortals to the neophytes? The damage is converted to a single MW per hit when unquestioning loyalty pops.
Also I’m pretty sure when you use ‘one with the shadows’ & other ‘can’t be targeted outside 12’ abilities they take effect immediately & the opponent can retarget as per the design FAQ. Might be wrong though.
Those are both true based on 9th edition rulings and wordings, but unquestioning loyalty has changed into a stratagem in 10th and is wound by wound (rather than turning all damage from one failed save into 1 mortal wound like it used to). One With the Darkness is also different from similar stratagems in the 9th codex in that it doesn’t stop the triggering attack from targeting you outside of 12”, only any further attacks (the triggering attack and any future attacks that do come from within 12” still get -1 to hit from Stealth though).
@@dereklancashire1731 Did a quick check - you’re right on the first point; since mortals are 1 at a time it would remove 8 neos, not 4. As for the one with the darkness strat, I refer you to the two relevant sections of the designer’s FAQ for 10th, C&P’d here -
Eligible Target (no longer eligible): If a unit that was an eligible target of an attack or charge when it was selected stops being an eligible target for that attack or charge (for example, because a rule enables it to make an out-of-phase move that takes it out of range), the attacking or charging unit can select new targets for those attacks or that charge. See Just After.
Just After: If a rule is triggered ‘just after’ something has happened, it is resolved before anything else happens. For example, if a rule
is triggered ‘just after’ a unit selects targets for its attacks, that rule is resolved before those attacks are resolved. The triggering of such rules can therefore interrupt normal sequences such as the attack sequence or the charge sequence. See Eligible Target (no longer eligible).
One with the shadows is triggered ‘just after’ the enemy selects their target, and you can see above resolves before the attacks are resolved. So the unit is immediately untargetable outside 12” & the opponent selects a new eligible target. The CSM version is super good on nurgle tanks & forgefiends for this reason. They sit in the backfield & are almost totally untargetable for 1cp.
@@SolidStoat ah, good catch on that! Makes the stratagem even more useful!
30 ppm abberants are better then terminators or paladins. well that sucks half the cost and better then our greatest elites. wth...
sound quality is not great, VERY echo'y
Yeah, it's the largeness of the room. We're installing some acoustic paneling in the studio room, so hopefully that will make things smoother!
Glad to see bat reports, but that camera action, is way too much for me to watch, might be a great idea to set the camera up on a tripod, please take this as an idea, not any criticism, but for me with all that camera sway back and forth made the game unwatchable for me.
Too much, eh? It's been a minute since I've been filming and I'm getting the hang of it again. Thanks for saying something! I'll keep it in mind!
@@onelastblade3913 Counterpoint, I enjoy your battle reports specifically because of the camera action. When it's a fixed view it's much less engaging in my opinion. I'm sure there's some sort of balance that can be found between the two. I'll watch regardless but just my two cents.
