I like how Royal Caribbean is making Icon of The Seas more colorful than the boring white and blue colors the oasis class has or the rest of the older fleets

The tropical style is ugly as heck. I agree with you that most modern day ships are fairly boring looking. The four stacker ocean liners of the Edwardian era were by far the best looking ships but obviously there’s no point in painting the hull of a ship black if your not dealing with coal.
The black coal style i uglier than the tropical blue and white IMO.
This ship was made all thanks to Finland and give some respect for the workers in Turku y'all❤❤

Just got off of Symphony of the Seas yesterday and saw the launch viewing of Icon while on board. It looks incredible! Can't wait to experience this!
I was on that same cruise. :) I thought it was annoying that our cruise director had to chime in our cabins to make the "ICON" announcement lol.

This looks like a ship that many families and young people will enjoy. However, it's just not my idea of cruising. I prefer the smaller ships that make me feel like I'm on the ocean. Ah, but to each his own.

Exactly. Small sailboats are great. I mean when a wave hits you it hits you but that's just part of the fun and the experience. Anyone can stay on a cruise ship... they are so large it needs a good storm to even shake them. If you want the real experience. Go small

I worked on allure of the seas. As a crew member I can say people do not like big ships. The zip line I operated was a useless joke. The ice rink was kinda cool but everything feels like it's 'At sea' in it's size. For two weeks max here's a list of people really want. All of this about older families....less of that young family shit I had to go through....... A) Larger rooms that could even cost a little more to offset losesB) 5 Flow riders instead of 2 so you don't have to queue C) more sport tournaments on the 14th deck in particular paddle or pickle ball courts instead of the mini golf where the ball just rolls around...... ( I ran sports), D) a driving range with balls that biodegrade and get eaten by fish E)more themed cuisine that best represents the trip in the wind breaker. F) a games room which features VR only games includind Madden ...tower tag etc and paintball....not just the largest paintball at sea but I mean a massive paintball studio that is for airsoft for younger years ...... 3 slids of greater variety around the ship including an easy and bendy slide...... A somewhat more verticle slide and an almost vertical drop slide...... And most importantly G) a sports bar that plays every sport...has the best craft beer , wings and bar games and a guest speaker is invited to come on board during their off-season. These are a few on my list as an ex oasis class crew member.
As crew we had to be 2.5 stripes to enjoy some evening privilidges above T deck when we were not on duty. I got caught for going into the comedy club with my surf guys ....the guest comdien made fun of us all night and the crowd recognized us. Everyone loved it but obviously we were punished for being human in an otherwise stressful working environment. Bottom line is is you guys love it when we are out on the decks with you after our shift. I feel like we should get more time up there off duty and obviously responsible....first crew member in a trip to take advantage gets fired. Simple as.

As a person who been a captian of my own vessel .. all i can say is that this all looks cool & all, but how will this ship handle 80kt winds wind agianst tide & 10 foot seas? Because that is when the size of a vessel plays a part in life or death. I hope this ship was built properly, not rushed & no corners were cut .. if they built this thing out of aluminum & fiberglass = stay away.
The ship is beautiful and there are aspects of it that are a WOW - I can't believe they did that! Now, with that being said, I do agree that it's not going to be a ship for everyone. It appears to me that it's geared more towards families and kids. Not everyone is going to love that nor should they. There are lots of cruise lines out there that offer what someone is looking for when they book a cruise. For me, I probably won't go on Icon of the Seas. Not my type of ship and far too many people for my liking.

The first infinity pool at sea is actually on Carnival with the Mardi Gras and now Celebration. They have 2 suspended pools each.

Not real big on the kaleidoscope of colors but I do like the almost organic layout of the deck.
If I ever do a cruise though it will probably be on a cheaper less crowded ship. Not paying two grand for a tiny cabin anytime soon

we got sick last summer on Wonder ship : 2 adults and 1 2 year old baby. covid test negative (We were not shown the real test stripes). but we had high fever for 4 days, not quarantines., no medic would see us unless we paied 120usd per check, and no medicine....NEVER AGAIN!!!

its about 1200 a person before tax for 7 nights. After taxes, gratuities and vacation protection(optional) its 2685.60. cant book much for the same time within the states at resorts for that price.

If you have kids 18 and under, this ship is for you. Everyone else..... I'm not sure they are going to enjoy this ship. Icon of the Sea's might be the First ship from Royal I do not sail.
My thoughts exactly! I was super excited about this ship but now not so much. Don't get me wrong the part of me that's a cruise ship engineering and design nerd loves it. That being said we are older and don't have young kids or grandchildren. Our cruise style is more laid back and the fewer "families" on board the better I like it. :) Plus I live in Florida if I want to go to a water park I'll just drive to one of the many within 2 hrs. of me. We're booked out through 2024 though so who knows, maybe I'll change my mind after seeing reviews and walkthroughs.

My grandparents bought tickets for it I am so excited to get on that ship I have been watching things about the icon for a long time and I can not wait to go on it and it was a good idea to have kids sail free because I am a kid and I will be on that ship on 1 year and oh And I am a kid I will be on that ship for free and when i was three I went on the simphany of the seas and it was really fun I can’t wait to see how fun this
