      Correct. For example, it is illegal to use a Dawn Chorus build if you don't have the ornament

  • @VRGUILE
    @VRGUILE Před 3 měsíci +428

    FINALLY. Some one who is talking about what really goes into buildcrafting. Its not enough to find what is "the best build": There is no best build. The real question is what is the best build FOR YOU. But that isn't enough because you have to factor in what you're team mates are running (if there are any) and what the encounter/activity wants you to do.

    • @pencilswordfish
      @pencilswordfish Před 3 měsíci +23

      Also, when people say a build is "bad" because it's not "grandmaster viable". While it's natural to assume that a broken build strong in GMs will naturally dominate lower end content, actual Optimal GM builds built for surviveability arent actually that optimal in lower end content where you want more killing power and can drop surviveability. Lotta people miss this.

    • @CurryIsGaming
      @CurryIsGaming Před 3 měsíci +2

      today’s sandbox allows for close range and/or aggressive play styles to slay out even GM level content and complete those activities quickly. These optimal GM builds are most certainly optimal for lower end content.

    • @VRGUILE
      @VRGUILE Před 3 měsíci +4

      @pencilswordfish One other thing that I've seen no one talk about is that team composition is becoming more important as our builds become more potent.
      What factor do you think is the most crippling to your build? It's not the activity. It's actually your teammates. Think about it: you have a high-powered add clear build that can churn through adds like nothing, but at the cost of needing a large amount of adds to kill in order to maintain all of the buffs to keep the build running. Now, what do you think would happen if your other teammates all ran the same kind of build? Add density has gone up, but so has our killing potential. If all players need to kill large amounts of adds just to maintain upkeep, then everybody will end up fighting for adds. One player will be at peak efficiency whilst the others will inevitably struggle in some way (I've seen this many times in the recent dungeon, they run a solar build with emperion but they can't keep it running because they're fighting for adds with myself or some one else).
      A strong team is a balanced team where each player takes on a different role and covers each others weaknesses: an example is one player is the add clearer - they churn through red bars and turn them into resources (orbs etc...), a second is the dpser - with no enemies to distract them, they can focus all of their high damage ammo on targets that really matter (bosses, champions) and the third is the support - they stay on the back row being relatively safe, acting as safety net. In return, the support focuses all their resources on making the other 2 better at their jobs (for the record, no. Using only your well once every 10 min doesn't count because you're only using 1 part of the solar warlocks' amazing toolkit for healing/buffing with abysmal uptime and potency).
      It's essentially the holy trifectre in gaming: offence, defence, support. If you establish this in your team comp, all activities become a piece of cake.

      As a new player, but also plays Division 2 so understand build synergies depending on mission, this is what I've been looking for. I've not even opened the loadout part yet because only been playing Destiny 2 for about 2 weeks.

    • @VRGUILE
      @VRGUILE Před 3 měsíci +2

      @digitaldogs233 I'm not sure what buildcrafting is like in Division 2, but Destiny 2s buildcrafting has got a broader range than what most people believe there to be. Basically, you don't have to make builds that are just different flavours of "make everything blow up" or "insanely high dps". It's now possible to make builds that are akin to dedicated healers, tanks, resupply specialists and more (even the beginnings of fleshed out aerial combat is possible). All have practical application in even the highest level content if paired with the right team mates for broader team synergy. This is where I think (as a seasoned veteran) D2s buildcrafting and team focused gameplay shines the most.

    Rule of thumb:
    1: What weapon(s) do you want to use?
    2: Do you want to spam abilities? Super dominant?
    3: Ad clear, Dps, or both?
    4: Agressive playstyle, Strategic Playstyle, or Both?
    5: What gear do you have overall?
    6: Read and Comprehend Gear and Perk/mod descriptions.
    7: Build for universal content, or focused content.
    8: Test out your builds. (Having a friend help you with dps testing is also viable)

    Dude. This is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been in the copy paste era for so long and it's maddening not knowing how to update your build as the meta shifts. Playstyle comment is a massive one which means you really have to find what you are comfortable with. It also allows you to understand the rotation on making the most of the build. If you're not aggressive then running BoW Titan with 1/2 punch and Wormgods is going to make you struggle and Abayant Leap may be more your speed if you prefer support.

    I used to follow and copy builds to a T, and then thinking *I* was bad at the game for dying so often- as well as lowering my love for the game
    but ever since I started making my own builds and prioritizing my own playstyle and choices, I've been having proper fun
    I've been struggling with warlock builds for a while, but this vid helped me craft my own build and I've been having a blast ever since

    Its important to know your playstyle, but its also important to branch out and try playstyles outside your comfort zone. For example, I'm comfortable with assassin's cowl and Omnioculous, but this season i learned how to use Celestial Nighthawk. Sure, im not the best at it, but I learned a lot from trying the radically different playstyle, lessons i can take back to my Void builds

    Your statements about being smart and knowing the build inside out is what I keep telling people about Renewal builds. I've seen many people try Renewals and think Stasis sucks cause they keep dying, even with a 65% Damage Reduction.
    It's so versatile, great for crowd control and fits any scenario. Short range? Enemies do 50 less damage inside the nade on top of the 65% DR you get inside the nade. Long range? You can throw the nade at enemies and they do 50% less damage and can control an area. Not to mention they can handle Overloads and Unstops.
    I've never seen anyone rock my setup and mine has worked for me perfectly.
    But one thing I never do is just rush in, which is what most do. It's a combination of pushing in and playing reserved. With Verglas I can confidently go in on something like the GN Moon Nightfall cause that thing, once you get 3 at least 3 stacks puts in work and Indebted Kindness (Warlord's Ruin Rocket Pistol) cleans up any enemy left.
    I've been playing around with other stasis builds after my newfound love for the subclass. It's fun seeing what works and doesn't or if they do work, seeing what scenarios they work in.
    But Renewals Verglas for me is the ol' Reliable when it comes to Stasis for me.

    In sub-class school you should also highlight the obvious difference between playing PC & console. Some mechanics even though they're technically the same are wildly different simply because of input controls. For example, a build centered around crits & headshots is easier on mouse & keyboard than it is with a controller. Since most YT's are PC guys they often overlook that these builds don't translate very well to console.

Like the sunbracers build, i run heat rises without the dive just because i prefer ember of resolve, healing on nade kos just works better for me since i can chuck em and stay away while still get the healing, plus then eruption, char, and ashes to pivot more on the loop of melee and nades with less focus on gunplay!

    Buildcrafting is easily my favourite part of the game. I spend hours just making builds.
    I have a rather careful playstyle. Not sitting back at the map, but heing up close, yet staying far enough so I am safe. That's why I really like contraverse hold as it fits that perfectly
    And yes, when running gms with buddies, when I run a well I only use it in emergencies as they can use it to stay alive, yet other than that it's useless to me. I rather play something else, but I also really like playing support, so it's not that bad
    My second fav build is solar Felwinters helm. Just like with sunbracers, making a melee kill and getting your full melee back with hear rises is very easy, even up to gm content. Then the whole room being debuffed helps me be more effective while noone can shoot back. I am being more cautious by suppressing the enemies first, then aggressive by going all in when they are debuffed

    Seriously, youtubers like Tizzle and Imagine are amazing. Most videos will tell you the what of a build, but there are very few who go in-depth into the most crucial aspect, the why.
    I only recently properly returned to destiny after several seasons of occasionally logging on to catch up on the story, and when I did I decided to get properly into buildcrafting.
    I still have no idea if it’s at all viable but the first build I threw together pretty much entirely on my own is a stasislock with the stag (an exotic people have been finding “surprisingly viable” for at least five years) and crimson (obviously a pvp exotic, but let me explain).
    So, the explanation. Through the power of actually reading the DDC I learned the only cooldown to the stag’s 50% rift recharge was the speed you could recover from critical health, so theoretically you could get your rift back extremely quickly. The problem is that the only healing in shadebinder’s kit is healing rift, which can barely outheal the chip damage of a few adds and won’t be much help if your rift is what you’re trying to get back; and rime, which I couldn’t even begin to fit into my fragments and aspects and doesn’t do much in the way of raw healing either. There’s recuperation and better already (I don’t know which is better but neither does anyone else), which are mods I did put in the build, but you won’t always have and orb at your feet every time you’re critically wounded. So, that leaves weapons. There’s legendary perks like unrelenting and heal clip, origin traits like souldrinker and extrovert (and vanguard’s vindication… technically). There’s exotic weapons like buried bloodline and suros, but I eventually decided on crimson, since it also starts health regen and triggers off a single kill.
    I’m almost certain it’s pretty shit but it was fun to find a combo of exotics with some degree of synergy and put them into a build that I’ve never seen anywhere else.

      @itztizzle  Před 3 měsíci

      Smart thinking! Yeah the stag is a solid exotic for sure. IMO recuperation is far superior to better already. Recuperation gives a chunk of healing, where better already starts health regen. But health regen is interrupted any time you take damage. So not ideal if you are taking damage from many adds. So you want the insta health bump from recuperation. I have a build video coming out next weekend that uses recuperation. Very good mod. Believe I used it in one of my solo flawless lake of shadows GM’s as well

    I agree about the Omnioculus vs Graviton thing, graviton is more of a get out of dodge exotic with the extra invis time and the recovery increase when low on health while omnioculus is more utility and support exotic thanks to the two smoke bombs

    I think prismatic is helping people understand buildcrafting more, I've seen some strange but effective builds out there. I got through the legendary campaign running osmiomancy gauntlets, 2 coldsnaps with bleak watcher, hellion and the fire snap really well and I got that idea off of a comment in a Facebook group I'm in because someone said with the new stasis buff the cold snaps hit hard and bleak watchers helped them solo. So I took that and added solar to it

    I used to play destiny a LOT and have over 3k hours in D2 alone. I quit around witch queen to focus on life and finishing my final year of school. I have returned to D2 about a month ago and have been still trying to find my “builds”. I typically try to craft my builds around what I am playing and capitalize on burns and weapon boosts. I’ve tried the strand Titan build and it just doesn’t fit for me. I ran Thundercrash a lot during garden release and love it’s Ad clearing and survivability with insurmountable skullfort and the smash ability. Sure it’s not crazy in high level content but the health regen for one single kill is nuts. I generally run a flex Ad clear load-out with a good heavy for DPS and double or even triple reserves (depends on how long a damage phase is). Everyone has their preference and maybe someday I will learn how to properly utilize the strand build. Since bubble is not in Meta currently it’s opened a lot of doors for Titans and makes the class feel completely different from even 2 years ago. As a Titan main it’s refreshing and nice to be out of the comfort zone. The game genuinely feels different and I love it.

    I asked The Holy Spirit a question during this livestream, "How do I please you" and I got the discernment as an answer, "Good works being recognized is like plucking flowers from my garden, then returning them to me as a gift. How can you gift me what is already mine? Instead, do what is asked and spread my seeds, so that more may bloom."
    I understand that I try too hard at times to please myself thinking that I can do works and "feel" like I'm still on the right path. Gotta learn to let go of that pride that sometimes creeps up on me.

    My personal philosophy is "Find something fun and make it awesome."
    My favorite builds that I've made are ones that my friends have always made fun of me for because of how "off meta" they are.
    Hunter favorite:
    I call it the Doom Blade.
    With Divinity, Arthrys's Embrace, and Weighted Throwing Knife (along with many mods, fragments, and aspects), I can make the knife do as much damage as a Sharpshooter Golden Gun shot and I can do it every few seconds while rocking Blade Barrage in case there's too many enemies. (It has the added benefit of being able to mow down any type of champion so long as you have whatever flavor of Anti-Barrier weapon the season calls for to go with it, even though sometimes you'll still just pop them before they can deploy the shield.)
    For Warlock:
    I call it my Blitz build.
    With Lightning Surge, Karnstein Armlets, and Monte Carlo (and various mods, aspects, and fragments), I can use Lightning Surge every 2 seconds (as long as I get at least 1 kill per use) and I can keep my health at maximum at all times. I'm fast as hell and have so much healing capability that I'm effectively invincible.
    For Titan:
    I call it my Infinite Edging build.
    With a Tommy's Matchbook, Solar subclass, and Precious Scars (and various mods, aspects, and fragments), I can light the entire world on fire while keeping myself in a perpetual state of one-shot BUT with constant restoration so taking damage is immediately negated unless it's a truly breathtaking amount.
    I don't use those builds because they follow metas. I use those builds because I find them fun and they're incredibly effective at doing what I want them to do at the same time.

    One part you left out is getting good armor not just exotic. You need armor items to be over 65 with good rolls as this also helps with the build as it ties into getting 100 stats. Artifice armor is even better as you can pick an additional stat point with it.

    I decided I loved Titan but I also like being a healer. I prefer the jet pack over the Warlock hover. So I’ve developed a healing Titan build using mainly weapons for damage and my super charge to aid in accelerating my ability recharge with Sun Furnace and sunspots from my hammers. I’ve saved multiple mission types by being able to revive people including solar warlocks as well.

    As usual, great vid Tiz. It's good that you're (re)affirming that "meta" builds aren't necessary for endgame activities, like GMs. With how long the season has been/is, my buddy and I have been duo'ing all the GMs in rotation multiple times each week, using completely off-meta theory crafted builds, and it's been fun. Every one of em we managed to easily clear them. Granted, for newer players, I'd prob recommend they get more seasoned and experienced with the game first (e.g. understanding spawn points, add prioritization, etc.), but def don't need to play this game with the same meta builds. Anyway, again, great vid. You weren't lying when you said you had a ton of content in mind to put out! 😂

    I remember I crafted a “support hunter” build for GMs last year that I still sometimes use today
    Used sixth coyote with gunslinger, Polaris lance, healing nade, weighted knife, radiant dodge and the idea was to be able to constantly loop radiant dodge on my teammates, proccing ember of mercy to improve grenade regen and then Polaris would loop scorch to refill my radiant dodge and then with the weighted I could throw it at a scorched target to ignite them etc

    Great video. Learned a lot as a returning player still getting familiar. 🖖
    You mentioned you like aggressive builds - I realized that, after playing Zero in Borderlands 2 many moons ago, I find myself always wanting to get that same lightning fast, in-your-face, headshot -> melee rush synergy when I play D2. If you had to pick one build (or some starting points) to replicate that same feeling in D2 for general content, what would you suggest?

    • @itztizzle

      Synthoceps solar titan or wormgod cures strand titan. I have a build video on Saturday of my favourite solo dungeon build and it is quite aggressive. So def check that out when it drops. It has been my go to for almost two years. Ever since solar 3.0 came out
