The Delos crew is at it again in one of our most beautiful backdrops yet. After being cooped up for nearly three weeks at sea with only 53 feet of space for our legs to roam, we let loose on the beautiful island of Fatu Hiva in French Polynesia. Fatu Hiva is truly a dream, and we were completely blown away at every turn. We're anchored in the Bay of Virgins, and one of the iconic features of this anchorage is a waterfront perfectly manicured soccer field. So of course we had to take to the grass and give our legs a proper workout. This would be just the first of our immersions into the local culture here, and we enjoy a beautiful local Polynesian dinner, and one of us even gets a tattoo with a HILARIOUS twist đ Now that Sierra is getting a bit older and becoming more and more perceptive, it feels so amazing to show her all the different ways that people live. Different languages, cultures, scenery, big cities, remote villages. This is one of the things we are most grateful about in our lifestyle is to be able to give Sierra such a broad range of experiences and to make her feel like there isn't one set path in life. Facts! I was gonna mention the same thing.
This Episode had such a great start with the unfamiliar smiling face it instantly set the tone for the whole video: SMILES. I also loved the focus Connor got this episode and to hear him talk about his passage throughout and now being back on land in a spraling Oasis was AWESOME. His tattoo looks fantastic and you (Kazza/Brian) have done a great job of capturing such beautiful moments with your CREW. What beautiful TRIBE Delos is!

I can't remember which channel it was, but it was about 10-15 years ago, they arrived in either Hiva Oa, or Fatu Hiva, but the locals were practicing traditional dance in a village hall. It was an amazing privilege to see it, considering not many people make it to that part of the world given how remote it is.
Thank you Delos crew for making real my dreams after reading Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki when I was a kid about fifteen years after he made the Kon-Tiki Expedition, I read Kon-Tiki , was instantly hooked and read the rest of his books. You captured both villages so beautifully. I may start to read his books all over again. And The Nugget Cam was back. She is so good! What a magnificent area and lovely helpful residents. Conor's tattoo is perfect (I would have wanted to stay knocked out during the rest of the ordeal)! What memories you share all together. Perfect.đ
Love Kon-Tiki, that was one of the books that I read for inspiration when I first started preparing to sail away! We actually visit the island where they made landfall in the Tuamotus (coming soon!). Thanks so much for the kind words and stoked you enjoyed the video!

I know this sounds insane but I feel a very strong connection to the ocean, growing up in middle America you wouldnât think that would be the case. We visited Florida almost 20 years ago with my wife and kids and it was the first time I had even seen the ocean. Diving in through the waves made me feel like a kid again and it felt like home. The moment when Capt. jumped in brought me back to that day and i got that same feeling I did almost 20 years ago. Completely random and not expected it hit me like a truck. Iâm glad no one is around because now Iâm crying and all emotional. From a 46 year old child, thanks for what you do.

i love the ocean too, but growing up on the east coast i've grown up around the ocean & on boats. the shots of them swimming were amazing to see. & the shots of the waves, with no land around, almost brought me to tears as well lol
That place is just magical. Imagine how peaceful it would be to live there. The scenery is like something out of a fairy tale. Connor's tattoo came out really good. I like the story telling in it. Eight hours is too long to sit for something like that, but I'm assuming they took a break for a while when he was unconscious. LOL.

This has got to be one of your top 10 best episodes on your entire channel and dare I say better than all the other sailing channels. The photography and story telling was AMAZING! I know itâs hard to get photos of the stars but you guys nailed it!
Iâve never really been into tattoos (donât have any) but after making that passage and ending up in a virtual paradise, Iâd be right next to Connor getting a tattoo as well. And the one he got tells a story and is awesome, especially for the first one. They say that scars and tattoos usually have a good story behind them and this is no exception!

Been a few months since I caught up with one of your videos, and am so amazed at how quickly Nugget is growing! She talks too now! đź But what got me the most was when I first saw Connor talking to the camera at the soccer field and had to rewind because I didnât realize you picked up a male to help out, and he *really* resembles Brian a lot from when he was younger. For a minute I thought Brian mustâve found the fountain of youth, or was managing an exceptionally good diet and exercise routine that ages people backwards. đ

I has a project:
A boat with thin-film solar panels (like those in this video) for cruising in the European waterways. I'm going to use them for electric propulsion as well as the hotel-load.
I'm going to use MTTP-micro-inverters, i.e. they make 220 VAC@50 Hz, and are grid-tieing, meaning that they follow the frequency to the grid they are connected to.
Using 220 VAC@50 Hz is very useful, because all the fairly cheap COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) stuff one can buy for the boat.

Great great stuff. Nice first tattoo... I've heard of people passing out on their first tattoos. The body's reaction to getting one is a stress event. Personally in painful areas, I tend to sweat heavily for about 10-15 min and then I'm good for the rest of the tattoo. If you passed out at the beginning, I would expect that. Endorphins take a while to kick in. I hope it doesn't dissuade you from getting any other tattoos later down the road.
Just hydrate a lot before the tattoo, don't drink any alcohol the night before, and do breathing exercises during the start to keep plenty of oxygen in your system until the endorphins kick in.
The island is beautiful and it looks like everyone is getting plenty of exercise after almost a month at sea. For people like me sitting in an office all day, it is a nice break to watch your episodes.
Delos, Brian and Kaza, embody everything that I cherish and believe in. Exploration, immersing in the local culture, and learning new things. The scenery is an added benefit, not to mention the way you get to where you are! This is why I love this channel so much! My life took a wrong turn years ago, wrong turn is not an accurate term, I entered the Navy and spent the next 20 years serving with the Marines and visiting many places. I can only wonder at what experiences I could have had if I hadn't done that! You, Delos and crew, are living my dream.

Dont feel bad, the same thing happened to me when I got a very small tattoo. My blood pressure dropped & got a cold sweat & was very limp & dizzy. He stopped then finished when I got better. Its called our Reflex Syncope. Its just how some of our bodies react to feeling what it perceives as trauma.

Conner has nothing to worry about with passing out. I just found out recently, and Iâm 65, that I canât deal with pain. I thought it was needles but itâs pain. I never passed out but I wish I would have because I feel so sick and bad. Great video â€ïžâ”ïž

It's a shame here in the states we aren't more like your hosts, I experienced similar hospitality when I was a young man in the Air Force stationed in Germany. The locals were always so helpful and accommodating. Not many Americans go out of their way to be welcoming to foreigners. Nothing I wanted to do more while in Germany than learn about their culture and immerse myself in it... Awesome tattoo Conor, although obviously crewing on Delos is an opportunity of a lifetime, just wanted to thank you for turning your life upside down to make the time, you've been a great addition, held up to the standards of a fun Delos crew mate... considering it's Delos, those are some fairly high standards!
Huh? I've watched plenty of travel vlogs from non-Americans in the states and they were all treated fabulously. Look up warmshowers, it's a hosting service for people traveling across the country by bicycle to be able to have a place to eat, sleep and recoup while crossing the country. To act like nobody here in the states treats people from out of country well is just a false narrative.

21:25, it's good to see you're also speaking Swedish to your little one, many parents just stick to English as it's easier (for them). Children pick up multiple languages without much effort, she will be forever grateful when she's older. I'm tri-lingual and currently learning Russian, not easy as one gets into one's late 50s.
We don't always show it on camera as our audience is mostly English speaking, but Kazza speaks Swedish to her as much as she does in English. Sierra understands both languages equally which is so cool!
