- A couple weeks before the Spring 2020 quarantine -- when most of us still had no idea what was about to happen -- we filmed a cover of our favorite Simon & Garfunkel song. In light of the pandemic, as well as the tornado that had just devastated parts of Nashville just a couple miles north of us, "The Sound of Silence" seems as relevant a song now as it has ever been.
Filmed by Craig Hill, live in a field at Percy Warner Park in Nashville.
Singer-songwriter duo O'Connor Lee earned national recognition as co-lead singers and primary songwriters of the O’Connor Band, a group they co-founded along with O’Connor’s father, seven-time CMA Award-winning violinist Mark O’Connor. They wrote the majority of the band’s debut album, Coming Home (Rounder Records), which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums Chart and won a GRAMMY Award in 2017.
Both independently and as part of the O’Connor Band, O'Connor and Lee have collaborated with Paul Simon, Zac Brown, Kenny Loggins, Clint Black, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Dan Tyminski, and many others. Their music with the O'Connor Band has accumulated more than a million streams on Spotify, and they have performed at the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, and Fenway Park, as well as some of the most prominent festivals and performing arts centers around the country.
They recently signed with Compass Records in their hometown of Nashville, TN.
Y'all sound great together
my goodness!!!…..crushed it all the way through!! 🎸🎻🎙
Good harmony
Just beautiful! Thank you!
Wow great job! This song came out around Christmas time 1964 as it was the biggest thing on the radio at that time. Five years later at about midnight, or maybe later, I walked into the Lighthouse Cafe on the east end of Bismarck, ND with two friends. I was carrying my 1960 Gibson Hummingbird with me as I never left it unattended in a car. Simon and Garfunkel were in the there -- they were on tour and were playing in town the next day. I could not believe my eyes. Garfunkel saw the us and the case and asked what's in it? I showed him the H-bird only a few years old at the time -- after saying some nice things about my axe -- he started strumming it and they launched in to an impromptu albeit short version of the "Sounds of Silence" for me and about 10 other customers in the restaurant that night. Thanks for the memory!!
That's an incredible story! Wow -- thank you for sharing that. It goes to show that interesting things happen when you carry instruments around haha!
Wow, that was so beautiful. Such a perfect rendition by an amazing couple. Sending thoughts and prayers for Kate's recovery.
This is the BEST cover of The Sound of Silence I’ve ever heard (and seen)! I'm 73 years old, and I've pretty much heard them all, including at a live concert of Simon & Garfunkel with The Everly Brothers. Well done!!
Thank you so much!! That means a lot -- wow!
True to the original melody, pure and simply arranged, and a brilliant performance.
TWO THUMBS UP!

Thank you. That was gor-or-geous. I already couldn't wait for your new record--and that was before I was locked in a house for six weeks and then heard that. You two are great.
Nice video, really nice recording. Forest's voice was just spot on here, especially in the higher register. This is a new favorite!
I heard you in upstate New York a few years ago, and often enjoy your CDs. Thank you for this. Kathy
