  • The wind in the willows is one of my most favorite movies from my early childhood days. The animation, the style, and the dialogue are all what make it such a treasure to me.

My cousin's and i used to watch this at my grandparents house when we were younger . They lived on a beautiful farm at the foot of a mountain, with a great river flowing at the bottom of the hill . Sometimes we'd go and pick blackberries by the river bank and then , if it rained, we'd run up to the house and get all dry, and then go to the cosy little living room they had , fire roaring, biscuits and hot Milos in hand , we'd watch this movie on an old VHS . Those were some of my fondest childhood memories

The River…the same as it was, & as it will be…always changing…yet always the same. To anyone reading this I hope you find your adventure. I hope you chase your wild dreams & spirits through the forest. Take ALL of these things: wisdom like the rat, careful as the mole, strong like a badger, & adventurous as the toad. Although we can’t be cuddled up warm in our grandparents homes with love & refreshments anymore…I hope you pass on these tales to your offspring. So they will too chase after the wild adventures of The River & listen to the spiritual whistle of the wind whispering in the willows.

It reminds me of my goal to save enough money to rent a house boat and follow the rivers in the UK or rural France. As an American who has never been to Europe this always motivates me. I have a goal of gliding through the rivers in spring/summer and stopping at a pub in a small town to hear/learn more about the local gossip and possibly make some friends. I very much wish I had a friendship like Mole and Ratty to embark on this journey but soon (actually very soon) I hope to get started. I envision in the next year renting a house boat, sipping on a chilled Rose', and writing while floating down the summer hugged river. Thank you for uploading this as I have watched it often to escape.

I'm not sure how my deeply southern (USA) grandma discovered this, but she made me watch it in the late 90s. It immediately impressed me with its depth of character and sincerity. It was also my introduction to Rik Mayall.

This hits core memories for me and is deeply nostalgic. Its almost psychedelic at times with how dreamlike it gets. I'd go as far as saying this was Mayall's best role, he was amazingly funny as Toad and still cracks me up in this.
