  • In this video you can see how to tune a glass harp from the beginning to the end. It takes less than 10 minutes.
Anybody can do it even if they are not musicians, all you need is a chromatic tuner with built in microphone, this instrument will tell you if the pitch is too high or low, so all you do is adjust the water level until the pitch is correct.
Excuse the audio quality, I couldn't bother setting up the studio for this video.
I hope you found it interesting or useful.

I am not a musician and have no clue about octaves, scales etc. I am just stunned by your kindness in providing this information to those who CAN understand it. Not only are you extremely talented and play AMAZING music on a very challenging instrument, you are KIND as well. Thank you for being just exactly who you are!

@FallenAngel2737 What is crystal? If you mean a mixture of silicon and lead
none of my glasses are crystal. Glasses with lead are banned in EC because lead is highly toxic. Anyway any glass with stem will resonate, but some will make a nicer sound than others. All I do is select the ones I prefer.
I don't choose the glasses by the size but the pitch the have when empty, it must be close and higher than the note they will be assigned.
They are not very expensive, max. 5 € and min. 50 cent.

@msdiediedie It will stay in tune all day, evaporation has never been a problem

But I don't know how to make them same level, what to put beneath them and how to fix, so that they don't shake or move. The "bad" judge at the Birmingham audition doesn't even understand music. Why was such a stupid guy chose as a judge on a music talent programme? I have no formal musical training (what I know about music is all self-education) yet I understand that you're playing music! The music you make is fantastic. You're so talented and generous (willing to share). Never give up. Believe in yourself. Your day will come!

@FallenAngel2737 Nah, I get any old cheapo glass to create a sound. I find thinner glass is much easier to get resonating than thicker glass. My mother-in-law has a huge brandy sniffer that is a very thin glass. That thing can pump out some nice bass tones. =D

Ho un'idea per accordare il glass harp. si potrebbe pesare il bicchiere con l'acqua per mezzo di una bilancia molto sensibile con i milligrammi e poi affinare le note con il diapason elettronico. Idea for tuning glass harp: put the glass on a sensitive (Till mg ) balance or scale and pour the correct amount of Water and refine the tune with the aid of electronic device. Try it ! I think it would be quicker

What if you go the route of the other glass harp artist on CZcams, I think he gets glasses that produce the desired note without water, would be easier to set up and take with you. Also have you considered entering a music competition to bring this art form to a bigger audience? I know those competitions are for people who are more entrepreneurial, but could help this form of art reach a much bigger audience. I knew you could produce sounds from glass but never did I think they could be made into music until I stumbled upon your videos. Btw I showed a girl your Canon D for Valentine's day and she really loved it.
