@@Boretheory Italy was the main contributor to the Nationalist victory in Spain, not Germany.
@@nox5555 What sorry state? Italy's Empire turned out to be as large as the German colonial/Nazi empires combined. It was Germany's betrayal that promised Italy 3 years to prepare (Pact of Steel) then invaded Poland 4 months later without notifying Italy, dragging an unprepared Italy into WWII and disaster. Same with Japan, invaded Pearl Harbor, never notifying Italy or Germany, bringing in America and guaranteeing an Allied victory. With Allies like those, Italy didn't need enemies.
Meloni's dominance over the ECR is so big, she's the group's leader without being an MEP. Why would she give this up instead of, at best, lending Von Der Leyen temporary support?
@@dai-belizariusz3087
As number of MEPs, yes. But FdI is governing a country, while PIS is not. Moreover, Italy is much bigger as an economy and as a population than Poland. And to add on that, PIS became a pariah in European politics and as such they don't have much influence outside the ECR, while Meloni managed to collaborate with Brussels increasing her influence on the European stage.
@@tepesobrejac4360 To add to everything you said, there is a very good chance that FdL will be a much bigger part of the ECR MEP wise too after these next elections. They are going from 9 MEPs to very likely over 20. PiS is projected to lose around one third of their current seats.
Von Der Leyen must go. She has been dragging EU into ideological wars around the world, instead of focusing on what truly matters. We need pragmatism in Europe!
I would say she is probably gonna stay in the middle and profit from both sides by trying to attract parties from both the EPP and ID to the ECR
The notion that Meloni would consider entering the EPP is entirely fanciful.

She never takes the blame for the unsuccessful actions of her government and instead tries to censor the press taking control of the national TV and reporting all the journalists who criticise her lead.
