I have never seen or heard this done so slowly....I’m not knocking it, at all, but it makes me think of what’s been said by and about Natalia Makarova, that when the tempo was “adagio,” she wanted the tempo as slow as possible, and when the tempo was “presto,” she wanted it as fast as possible. I suppose it was a prima ballerina thing, to show her absolute skill and mastery. And Lopatkina def illustrates that here, withher beautiful arms and incomparable musicality. But I feel for the poor swans!
