i was in New York a few weeks ago taking the sights in on the Empire state building and had L.A.B playing on my head phones and i felt so far away from home i just wanted to get on the next plane and come back to Aotearoa ... They're already there. Their catalogue is good but considering just over a year ago no one knew who they were and they're already considered NZ music royalty off the strength of their first single which is pretty remarkable when you think about it. But the musicianship speaks for itself. These guys are the real deal.

I'm from Tauranga and I keep thinking of how perfectly LAB combines and updates all those old summer sounds we grew up with eg Golden Harvest, Earth, Wind and Fire, Mark Williams, Hall and Oates, Stevie Wonder, Boz Scaggs, Dalvanius, Pablo Cruise, Crusaders, Doobie Brothers, Womack and Womack etc. etc. Sweet funky yacht rock (haha) - the sort of playlist you might hear on the PA at the Mount hot pools.
