I've paid for premium Busuu for two years running. I agree with your point that the limitation of all app-learning is that you don't learn to converse, rather you just learn grammar and vocab. But the thing I really liked about Busuu was that at various points it asks an open question on the subject covered, ask you to record yourself answering (or write an answer), and then native speakers will correct you by audio or text (& it encourages you to mark others' work too). It gave me confidence that I had learned correctly (especially pronunciation). But yes, I also agree that FluentU's use of real audio and video is peak.

I use Assimil + Busuu + tandem and I speak fluently 4 languages 😂
Over all out of all the apps out there, (and there are a lot out there) what one would you suggest?
100% agree with the articles in the vocab review. Very annoying
