Congratulations on finishing such a large project! And filming every step!
Very nice would like to see you move in.
I think completing such a massive project in just 3 months was a huge achievement Sam. It's awesome! Well Done!
I can't tell you how happy I am to see that you finished this job but the most important thing to me is the ramp your son built for you!! 1.) It's really good for his confidence. 2.) You will forever have those memories and memories worth more than anything in the world. 3.) GREAT JOB, SAM!!!
No, that ramp is huge.. Father and son connections can never be overrated :)
This has been a fun few months (for us). The workshop looks fantastic! I like the ceiling for sure. The heaters you have shown are bigger but similar to one we used at work. Worked very well at heating a spray booth that had three walls exposed to the outside; kept it nice and warm, no problem. For the wall with the windows; maybe a show & tell table for demos on new lasers and such. A dedicated place for the setup and filming of videos so as not to disrupt the rest of your business setup? Anyway, really appreciate the effort put forth by you and family and taking the time to bring us along for the ride. Thank you!
What a fine, handsome workshop building Sam. Your friends, family and Jimney were absolutely correct to keep pushing you on the finishing touches of your build. A work to be proud of. Good call on the ramp! Can’t wait to see what comes out of the workshop in the future.
VOLTAIRE: PERFECT IS THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD .
I like the ceiling. I like the whole shop.
Great video Sam congratulations
Looks great Sam .
Congratulations on the completion.
Sam, I would advise to put locking wheels on all your work tables it will help you with your workflow where you can move table to your equipment etc.
You got a hell of a deal on that roofing bid
I learned so much. You worked your butt off. Great job.
You did an amazing job in 3 months.
In the past I have mentioned a couple of things but I can see you have most of the things already thought out and don't listen to a whole lot of us. Here is one thing I will say that I would do to the shop NOW. Before you move anything in, lay down carpet. It will help sound proof the room and believe it or not, easier to keep clean. I have some in my shop and I would not have it any other way. I learned it from Stumpy Nub when he put it in his shop. A vacuum when needed is all you have to do. Helps with the temp in the shop also.
Add some 1x2 on the roof to cover up the gaps to give you that finished look
You may just be a trendsetter. I would and probably will use the chip lap-style ceiling in my next workshop build. In fact, there may be a portion of the house that I may rebuild like a laundry room and a mudroom that it will be going into. Trendsetter, you may just be!
So jealous, this is an awesome looking shop. I like the ceiling and let's be honest, it's a shop it's not your living room. Good job
Whoo! Can't wait to see the space fill up with new toys and builds. Good job Sam!
Sam I rarely ever add comments but I wanted to say congratulations on completing your shop build. I enjoyed the attention to detail that you gave the entire build. The fact that you did not skimp on materials or time to do things correctly will pay dividends as the years go by. I also enjoyed the fact that you decided to keep the ramp your son built. That ramp will speak to you every time you step into your new shop. I observed your son helped through the entire build and that says volumes about him and you and your wife about being good parents. I do have some suggestions I would like to make. Before you move everything into the new space, take the time to paint the floor. This will help in shop cleanup and appearance and is much easier to do now while the shop is empty. Second, I did not see any base trim. This is certainly not necessary but will add to the appearance. A simple 1x4 would look great. Finally, I know you addressed it in the video but the ceiling still does not come up to the standard you set for the rest of the shop. I think you could use drywall compound to patch the gaps and before it completely hardens try running a stiff brush over the patch to put a grain in the compound to match the grain in the boards. Get a matching paint to cover your repairs and the ceiling will again match your eye for detail. I do not mean to offend or in any way detract from your deserved sense of accomplishment, just my own OCD kicking in.
Congratulations on your new space!!!
You have my dream workshop.
Basically from an old carpenter don't just fill it up. Give yourself time. In time you will find it getting full. Congratulations.
First CONGRATULATIONS!!! My way of thinking is that sub standard plywood flooring should be cut out and replaced. It will nag you until you do. Get it behind you now. Totally happy for you and your family. You got your first class shop and they got their Dad and Husband back 🙂
Awesome milestone Sam! I think you did a great job. Sure you made some minor mistakes. This build gave you experience and thought to future projects. Now your kids see this and their standards will improve as they grow.
Congratulations!
Congratulations. We watched you do all the hard work, but it is looking awesome.
Yay for the ramp
The ramp was/is excellent my favorite
I seldom comment but, I've been following along for quite awhile and I just wanted to say you did a great job and are very honest. I enjoy your channel.
Congratulations
It looks great Sam, you did awesome job. I'm glad that you finished it up on the windows. Because you know you probably would've never gone back to finish it up So now it's done and that's a huge accomplishment .
I have shop space envy!
Looks soooooooooo good! You will fill the space quicker than you know. ❤❤❤❤
WooHoo! Grand opening!
I was thinking.. what about putting some wood up between those gaps on the ceiling? Like a 1x1 or something smaller? Don't they call it ceiling trim? I think that would be incredible. White trim on the ceiling to contrast that beautiful gray color... Just food for thought! And I'm pretty sure it'd be easy to do!
I wanna know where your fridge and thinking 🤔 recliner will go ? Probably near the big screen tv huh 👍😃. Awesome build Sam 👍👍👍👍👍.
Sam, that color on the ceiling is very calming!!! I dispise white ceilings!!!
Sam I love the new shop. One thing you do need to incorporate is sound absorption to stop the echo.
Your workshop is so nice. I’d work in there all day. Thanks for sharing - I love to see what you all are doing on the homestead.
Sam you are too funny. Great job on the workshop
What a fabulous series Sam...you and your family must be very proud (and broke)... Best wishes from Paul in the UK
My only advice is put wheels on your equipment till you settle on their final location because you will move things around a lot at first..
And as for the laser engravers... I hang mine on the wall (the manageable size ones) and when I need them I have wall attached tables that open up(then pull away from the wall) and I put the laser engravers on them to do the job..
Other than that ....Don't Sweat the small stuff!!! :)
Oh and I also added a ceiling hoist through my attic door to lift heavy stuff when needed... using a cheap Harbor freight hoist!
Absolutely Mint 👍👌👍👌👍
Well done..can't wait to see what the future will bring out of this space for you.
That looks good. If it doesn’t negatively affect the outcome of your projects I say it doesn’t matter.
Build a nice porch with a ramp 4'x8' steps straight out and ramp on wall side
I would put vinyl plank flooring down to cover any problems. Also shoot with a middle into the waves with wood glue and put some weight on it until glue is dry. This project is really kwel.!
Sam, I was going to suggest you put a thin molding over those ceiling joints. Like 1/4" thick x 1" wide or so. Painted the same color. That would fix the issue and give you a bit of an artistic feel.
You've worked so hard on this, Sam, and should be extremely proud of yourself! I hope you will have a chance to take a few days OFF!
would love to see a cost breakdown as this is the size and style i want to do for myself
I put RustOlium oil-based paint on my plywood floor. Wears like iron and looks great. It will take a couple of days to dry since it is oil-based. Two gallons would do your floor. A second coat is optional, it would make it better since the wood is pretty dry.
Got to make room for a fridge!
Excellent job Sam, I’m envious of all that space
Congradulations Sam!!!🎉🎉it looks awesome! Ok few ideas for you …re your ceiling… I think it looks great but those cracks that bug you why not do your calking trick and do grey touch up paint to match it??…. I love the look of your heaters makes look retro .Re your ramp the door….I would do the same thing! Again as always giving your kids trust and freedom to push their creative boundary’s is what I do with my girls! I’m sure it makes them very proud to see you love that ramp! You now need to make them their own work bench ! I’m sure they would be honored and you guys would be able to do projects together! This weekend was my milestone ! I have poured the footings for my14x30shop! Soon I will be able to move into my dream shop as well !really looking forward to see what you come up with bench wise as I will also be needing to make a few. Thanks for bringing us along for this build .
Spectacular series. Thank you, and well done.
I forgot to mention in my other comment, congratulations sam you did a fantastic job and have a amazing new shop
So excited for the tour; here we go!
it is an Amazing space, I look forward to watching more , Great Job
Glad your finished but a valuable lesson, the reason we no longer use OSB or plywood, zip sheeting is a much better option
Love your new, giant workshop!
Well done!
It's incredible that it's only been a few months, I've watched every part, and I'm so happy to hear that you are going to start making things for it.
Congratulations Sam. 🙏🙏🙏
Nice job. I have to say.
I reckon at least some of the space should be devoted to display cabinets for some cool stuff that you like, Adam Savage style. That would be awesome. 👍
It will be enjoyable watching you move in, finding the right place for your equipment, and work on projects.
Excellent! Good news.
Looking fwd to move in day videos and tunnel videos
Well done Sam. It looks fabulous.
Looking good brother! looking forward to seeing what it's like when everything is moved in
How upsetting for you about the plywood. I'm glad you were able to move forward from it.
Some sort of shed relaxation spot sounds good. Also I'm sure your boys will enjoy a space to do projects of their own as and when they feel the urge.
Well done and enjoy! Hi from Australia.
Looks awesome. Know I don’t know if I want to watch laser stuff or you building workshops hahaha love all of your content!!!!
Nice work Sam! Congratulations on finishing the build.
I like the ceiling but I do not know what the 4 big squares are for but it all looks good to me and the place to get into the attic space was a very good idea, I think you will not regret it!
Nice work. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe, wai, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Good looking shop Sam
Congratulations Sam! Nicely done!
Congratulations Sam. Like you said. Tonne of hard graft but man, the outcome is awesome.
Still think a ceiling gangtry camera system would be amazing in there. Would make the filming of all your projects so much easier without having to reposition tripod's, clamp clips etc.
Look forward to the work bench build. 👍
Well done!!!Sending love and light.🫶
Awesome job can’t wait to see it filled.
Looks Great! Look forward to seeing how you lay out equipment.
Great job Sam..........enjoy that new shop!
Congratulations !
Nice accomplishment. Blessings.
I vision "rest area" in one of the corners with TV and comfortable seating. After all, this shop could also be a "mancave" especially with three men in your family. Sam you are such a good spokesperson. I love listening to your explanations. Such a good job on this project.
Great job Sam,can’t wait to see what happens next
I love your new workshop. I have a 24ft x 24ft shop I am not able to use due to physical health.
Nice Work. You did a GREAT job.
Excellent video series! Finished project looks great...congrats. Really cool you left the ramp, hope it lasts a long time!
Congratulations to and family(your faithful helpers on a job well done). Sam a thought, first and goal..don't punt. Finish the doorway/connector hall, reason #1 if the budget allows, you won't regret finishing the job #2 it will be SO much easier moving from old shop via a doorway verses hauling out the door around the old shop and up the ramp...it gets tiring all the trips. Just my observations....we aren't getting any younger. Thanks again for reading my $.02 worth.
Looks great Sam. Well done. Very inspiring. 😊
Right on Sam... its wonderful
Hearty congratulations
Sam, you are such a natural 'educator', very at ease, so articulate. Pleasure to listen to - laced with humour!
That is sweet can’t wait to see it all up and running with the machines you have.
Awesome Sam! Must really be satisfying. Congrats.
Congrats looks great very happy for you... Keep up the great work...
Congratulations!!!!
Great job great space blessings to your future
It’s awesome. Love it. I do.
Well done Sam! I've read a few of the comments and I would also agree that the doing something with the floor color would pay dividends down the road. IF (big if) you add floor trim I would do as small of a trim as you can get away with.
Awesome space, well done Sam ❤
