  • Sky News host James Macpherson discusses a social media post made by Australian "breakdancing sensation" Rachael 'Raygun' Gunn.
"Australian breakdancing sensation Rachel Gunn, aka b-girl Raygun, broke her silence about that Olympic, can we call it, performance," Mr Macpherson said.
"I don't know about hate, but she certainly brought a lot of joy.
"I mean, I laughed myself silly over that performance."

I read her bio. Says she danced ballroom, jazz and contemporary since she was a child and then B since 2010. She says she doesn't have their athleticism. Alright then if you knew you didn't measure up at all then stay home, go to dance classes and have fun. She took the spot of others who were serious competitors and have doing b since they were little.

This makes me think that she’s probably going to go on to milk this for all it’s worth, anyone with a gram of self-awareness and the ability to self reflect, would say “hi, it’s Rachel..”,

As you said yourself , it’s the feminist , woke concept that “ everyone is special , I can be , do what ever I want to “ , and that anyone saying I can’t is just an oppressor , a part of an oppressive patriarchy etc . When the objective reality is we cannot be , do what ever we want , we all have personal , psychological , physical limits and talents and perhaps we reach great achievements by learning to know ourselves and accept who we are . Perhaps this then allows u to fully discover and achieve those great things we see in others . They are fortunate enough to learn , find th etchings thst they are good at and love and so commit to being better and achieve more . Theres a maxim that to be just competent at something takes around 10,000 hours of practice , imagine the hard work it takes to achieve the great things we see from those we used to admire for their achievement and which people like Ray Gun demean so casually ?
In my own profession as an artist , sculptor , ceramicist and lecturer , it has taken a lifetime to achieve the level I have and I am still learning and hopefully becoming more able to express my ideas in my art . Anything that looks easy is often because the person doing it has committed to working very hard for years m for a lifetime to achieve a standard . To applaud someone for their “ spirit” seems a sad justification for what was lazy , technically flawed and an abandonment of any basic standard of excellence or even just competence . How can that be rewarded and applauded unless we are now celebrating the feminist ideal of no objective standards and expectations ? A prize for all , for just attending is what it represents and a gold medal would be seen as rewarding those who are excluding others because of their excellence and we see those who do attain great things being smeared for their achievements being an attack upon those who don’t achieve .a purely ideological undermining of individual talent and the idea of high standards being something positive .

She may have been deceived by this warped system to think she really is good. And, under the thick blanket of that sane delusion, she cannot comprehend that maybe people are laughing at her simply because she’s bad - instead she defaults that it must be a conspiracy of misogyny and hate. No male gives a flying fig if a break dancer has a pole or a hole… it’s only ever been about skill; and this lady ain’t got it; simple as that.
