Persecution Watchdog's Warning: Canadian Bill Could 'Send Christians to Jail' for Quoting Bible

- A religious freedom advocate is warning that a proposed Canadian law could imperil freedom of speech and religious liberty. Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern (ICC), a religious persecution watchdog, told CBN News proposed Bill C-367 "amends the criminal code and it takes away some religious exemptions that protected Christians."
King compared the proposal to the Equality Act, a U.S. legislation that the Biden administration championed but failed to pass. The U.S. bill sought to prohibit "discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity in areas including public accommodations and facilities, education, federal funding, employment, housing, credit, and the jury system," but ignited religious persecution concerns.
Similarly, Canadian Bill C-367, King said, would create potential problems for people making biblical claims or basing objections to certain issues on the Quran or other religious sentiments. With these protections potentially in danger, King said the potential impact could create a similar dynamic to what is seen in more restrictive and despotic nations.
"This is what the dictators and the despots do overseas to strangle Christianity or whatever faith," he said. "They say, 'Oh, we have religious freedom, but not in the public sphere.' So, it's the same game." King said hate speech laws are "always being promoted ... for the common good," but he said such provisions tend to "create division."
He explained that hate speech laws were passed in Canada in 2003 and 2004 with protections, but warned that these caveats are now potentially on the chopping block. "Democracy means you have freedom of speech," King said. "It's the marketplace of ideas. Everyone should be able to voice their opinion, no matter whether it's great, bad, or stupid." He said the "alarming thing" about the current battle over Bill C-367 is that many people aren't aware of it nor of its more recent iteration Bill C-373. Watch King explain these issues.

As a Christian who is also Canadian this is very sad. With that said this type of persecution will be a test of faith and will you hold back the truth in a loving way or stand firm in your faith and on the Word of Truth. We have been warned that trials, suffering and persectution will come for us but we're also promised that Jesus has overcome all of it so we can take heart and comfort in that.

Many say they're saved yet when faced with a choice to suffer or be liked by the world to have the things of the world many will fold. In the 1960s and 70s, my parents and some of their friends left authoritarian Communist Yugoslavia for Canada. Now, some of their children are leaving Canada for the same reason. I personally know at least 10 people who left Canada permanently in the last few years. This bill isn't about stopping hatred, it's about stopping political dissent.

UK is getting similar...but from what I have seen and heard online, Canada is seeing some real stirrings of revival in various places, I can't say the same about UK - but God may well be at work behind the scenes. Recently, a young gospel singer Harmonie London received a public apology from the London police, after a volunteer policewoman had wrongly told her that it was illegal to perform "church music outside of church grounds"!!
I remember that. Imagine that same volunteer police saying anything like that to a muslim outside of a mosque in the UK. It's crazy. Luckily Canada isn't as overrun by Islam as the UK, but it's still a problem here and in the US.

If this comes to pass then simply continue speaking truth without directly quoting scripture. Years ago I prayed to have scripture written on my heart. Since then I have found myself writing scripture without even being aware. I would write words and find out afterwards that what I wrote was in scripture I wasnt aware of. @nonenow857 many churches teach complacency. "You will know them by their fruit" I don't know about you my brother but finding a good tree these days is difficult. Just to find one that holds to the actual teachings of the Bible and calls a law what jesus called the law.

Because the Bible speaks not only of our savior Jesus, but why we need to be saved (because we are sinners and we cannot redeem ourselves). In that it also talks about what sin is, and people are offended by that.

Bible verses contain so much wisdom and, imo, they don't necessarily have to be religious if you don't want them to be. They contain really smart advice on life. I am forever amazed at the scope of the wisdom and how ageless the advice is.

The best thing you can do as a Christian is to keep your lamp filled, draw closer to the Lord then ever before, and pray without ceasing for this country, and your fellow brethren! Nothing is going to change what is foretold to happen just prior to Jesus return. Our fight is not with flesh and blood! Jesus said our kingdom is not of this world. And again it says in scripture that a good soldier does not get involved with the affairs of this world! Our commandment is not to fight the world for our rights. It is to win as many souls as we can! God is going to make new heavens, and a new earth, all we see now is going to pass away! Antichrist is at the door, and we need to focus on keeping our eyes and heart on Gods kingdom, not this world, or the affairs of it!
