Before my daughters kidney surgery we found out my daughters kidney disease was caused by my blood disorder during pregnancy, I sobbed and sobbed and felt the need to apologize for some reason. She was 16 and my daughters perspective was the same as you brave mary. She looked at me with a surprized smile and said "mom, I wouldn't go back and change this life even if I could. This is my body and with out it I wouldn't have the perspective that I have. I'd probably only care about starbucks and fashion like the other girls my age. The lord will give them a chance to get to the place I am someday and I'm grateful he gave me that opportunity already." Perspective from the Lord...priceless. Humbled by your child...priceless. You're an inspiration dear.

I am so sorry!! But yes she has the same feelings. I was born with Spina bifida and my mom always feels bad to give it to me and stuff but this is pretty much exactly what I told her. I wouldn't change my life for anything and it has given me the ability to care about those other than myself especially those in marginalized communities and stuff because I know at least a bit how those who are discriminated against feel
I had a Lung Transplant March 24th 2016 due to CF and I had lots of complications during and after it, but I'm alive and I'm Thankful everyday for that 💜

My heart is breaking for you Mary and for you too Peter. But thank you Mary for mentioning the ones who been there and how hard that is on us. I lost my son the 12th of this month six years ago and we were trying to get him accepted on a transplant list but hospitals kept refusing him because he was overweight. The day after he died he was accepted on a transplant list. Someone is walking around with his beautiful blue eyes because they were donated and I wish I could look into them just one more time. If I hadn't had the Lord in my life I don't think I could have made it through. I will continue to pray for you both and continue watching everyday like I have for the past year or so. Just continue to try to have "Faith and not Fear." Love you sweet kids..... and as always Good Night and God Bless. ❤🙏🏼👍🏻😴

I think their faith is really sweet, but I don't think that it is what is important...I think (only MHO though! ) what is important is kindness...kindness and care & consideration of others. Our souls will survive death, I truly believe they have survived many deaths before and will survive many more. Religion isn't neccessary...Im sure if there is a God he/she/it would say...'love each other, not me...I don't need it, but y'all do...The meaning of life is to care for each other with love. that simple. But Mary & Peter are lovely souls regardless. A real love story.

Oliver is a dog and dogs can sense distress. When Oliver came over (at around 6:00) to comfort *Peter*, it was so sweet that it broke my heart. Peter's distress listening to this shows how much he loves Mary. Stay strong, you two.
Yesterday CZcams recommended the "my sisters lung transplant story" video. In the middle of the video I felt the overwhelming urge to pause it and pray. And as soon as I began to pray an indescribable wave of peace washed over me. I felt a warm glow rest in my chest. I'm not sure what that means for you but let it be an encouragement that a thousand miles away with no way for me to know what was happening, God was calling for prayers over your life.

I know a man now in his 50s who has CF. Twenty years ago he was literally on his death bed and now he's thriving. That unknown though really must be hard. But you have to have hope.

I mentioned last year that I work at the DMV in Wisconsin and I can't express enough to people to "Please educate yourself on Organ Donation" Please say "YES" on your Drivers License and sign the back of your DL to be an Organ Donor. Mary is just 1 person of thousands of people in need. Prayers to you both.
My parents and family are well aware I want to donate my organs, and I am on the donor list and it's on my drivers license. My life has alwyas been about making others happy, and I can't think of anything more rewarding than letting even just one person, if not multiple, live longer when I die.

yes I believe there should be more in-depth talks with people getting there license about being an organ donor and how it can save someone's life. or even make pamphlets with info about it for people to consider it.
When I first got my license at 16 they asked me if I wanted to be a donor but they don't talk about the benefits of it nor have I ran across info on it. It's just not talked about or publicized enough at least where I'm from
I have stage IV breast cancer with metastasis to the bone and it's hard every day but what keeps me going is my faith in God and with him everything is possible. Mary, I wish you a happy future through the good and the bad. You have an awesome support system and so many people praying for you. Thank you for showing your emotions and feelings with us. We could all use a little hope. Let's all remember that "There is no diagnosis greater than God".

With Cystic Fibrosis witch I have also everything can change in a days time it’s like CF vs. body fight all the time if we have diabetes too it is. CFRD vs. Body bigger challenge then people with nothing besides pills but if we want to other people in our shoes they would fail. as I don't have kids, I have a six toed cat that helps me get through the days I'm fighting. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome with tethered cord, scoliosis, and chairi malformation. my eds comes with chronic daily dislocations and subluxations. and chronic pain is my 24/7. Mary is such a strong gal! when I watch her videos, some of her encouragement and fighting skills rub off on me. everyone with chronic health is a survivor if not a warrior! stay strong and hope your day was good if not ok and there's days that just don't go as planned. sending gentle hugs and support prayers your way

Think of it as a safety net they want to put in place "just in case" whilst they keep trying - it may not be necessary yet but good to start the ball rolling given how long these things take. I've been in discussions about moving to a wheelchair in the last 6 months and similar fear of the unknown and it feeling finite - but a friend who did the same change 10 years back said it was really a lifeline for her so I have very mixed emotions, but she said it gave her freedom and, in time, opened her life up a lot. I guess there could be parallels with your situation.
PS: I very much admire and respect the immediacy, openness and rawness of this video and that you were willing to share it - it will help others even just being able to watch it - even for people who don't have CF. I don't share your faith but I again, very much respect it and admire your tenacity and strength as a couple in living (what appears from the 30 mins of your life a day I share) a very happy, positive and giving life.

I have pulmonary hypertension and totally understand how it feels to see yourself getting worse and your numbers get worse. It is terrifying. In an odd way I sort of look forward to a double lung and heart transplant, granted that's a ways away for me. I know I will have a 50/50 shot of making it through when it happens but a chance to live a 'normal' life and be able to breathe would be amazing. Have faith and hope.

Your strength keeps me strong. I had a friend die from CF 3 years ago, when she was 12. Just after her death, I was diagnosed with vasculitis, a chronic disease that can affect every organ. Currently, I have kidney death and eye damage. Treatments and chemo are hard, but watching you helps. So thank you, and I'll pray for you and good labs results!

My friend Rachel was a cf warrior. She sadly passed a week ago. She just couldn't breathe , she waited on that call for over a year and it just didn't come in time. She left behind a beautiful five year old son. I'm praying for you both.

Not finished the video yet but right as Ollie came up to you, my dog looked at my phone and gave me his 'is everything okay, mama' look. Dogs are amazing.
I know it's not transplant, but I went through a time when I did everything possible for my spine and I remember having that 'this is where we're at' conversation about spine surgery. I cried so much. I wasn't in a good place with God at the time. I was angry at God at the time.
I'm curious what your church services are like? Is it just Peter preaching for a bit and that's it? I'm Catholic so I'm used to the same ritual each week.
I'm at a point now where I am trying every day to chose joy with God. Trying. Not always succeeding.
You're both such a testimony to God's love and sovereignty and trusting in Him. A priest once told me 'it's okay to yell and cry to God, He already knows you want to and He understands why because He's with you on this journey and through the fog' (I was telling the priest how I felt like I was in a fog and God was on the outside of it and I couldn't reach Him).
This is getting super long and I'm sorry about that, just wanted to give you as much encouragement as I can through typing.

I have a mass in my spine after a spinal bleed in 2011. I am not eligible for surgery due to the risk of further bleeding. It is tough because I'm the only known case quite like this. The closest diagnosis is Spinal Epidural Hematoma, but mine is more of a hemorrhage than a hematoma.
I too have chronic illness. I understand your fear of the unknown. Blessings to you and many many prayers being sent.

I love you Mary! I had a transplant last May after waiting for a year. Even though I was waiting, I didn't feel like I needed one. My doctor kept telling me I truly did though. Even when I got the call, I told my mom that it wasn't time yet. It was very hard, very traumatic but God is faithful. He would have been good if I wouldn't be here today. The process is hard, but God is bigger than the process.
Joy is my favorite word. It doesn't mean cheery smiles, it just means peace and trust in the Lord. Ollie boy is so sweet. Mary, you have a great man and a wonderful team around you. Peter, your sensitivity to Mary and her condition is beautiful. I love that song that you were listening to. 😊 I have watched several friends go through big transplants, including a double lung transplant. I absolutely love that song but I feel like it goes unknown or forgotten. I sang it with them too. I forget how powerful that song is. The imagery is beautiful. I love writing and have always been told I have a way with words. I just share my heart and sometimes it means I have a lot to say. 😉 I love how God created each one of us, even in this community. I have seen a handful of people go through transplants and it is amazing how intense the journey is. Transplant is close to my heart, for sure. "Do what you think you can't do" helped me so much over the last two days. My parents are elderly and I've needed to do more to take care of them. I have physical limitations that made it very difficult to do, but "do what you think you can't do" became my mantra for those two days. I love you two special people. God bless you both.

Thank you for your raw take on this, Freys. I had a really rough month with CF, and like Mary, I am usually a pretty positive and upbeat person, but this last hospital stay shook me to my core. I felt like things were going from bad to worse and no one could fix it. It hurt me to even think about God because of how upset I was. Your faith in even the hardest things is so inspiring, and thank you for reminding me that it is okay to cry! Love you guys!!
We all love you Mary and we all want you to have the best quality of life possible. You mentioned your conversation with your friend, what if, the fact that when you aren't coughing your body feels good, this is the best time for a transplant. Your body feels good when you aren't coughing because you take great care of yourself and it's strong. You are strong. Having a transplant while strong will make it that much "easier" on your body during surgery and recovery. I am in MA and my friend whose father is a respiratory specialist and has CF patients had an organ transplant. She took great care of herself in spite of being so sick. Her recovery went amazing. I know everybody is different but we need to keep thinking of positives. You will get through this and you have so many who know you personally and those of us who don't who love you and are praying hard for you❤ I know this can't be easy, I remember how it was for my friend when it finally came down to transplant for her. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. We will get through this together. We will be your spoons❤

You two, as a marriage. Are a prime example as to what God wants in a faith based marriage. It's not about the joy and all the fun you have in a relationship. It is the trials and struggles, the obstacles that arise in your life. It's the worst days, the tears, the moments when the devil is beating you down. It's those moments that God has prepared you for to rise from these situations as a Godly couple. To grow and learn that without God you are nothing. To strive for that relationship with him. That your relationship not only together but with Christ grows as well. By putting your lives out here for the world to see, you are showing us how powerful the Lord is. What he is capable of. How with him in our lives we can conquer anything this world throws at us. You two have a an unselfish love that does not waiver, just as he has loved us. Thank you for sharing your story. I always wondered if you were on an inactivated lung transplant list, now this explains it. Whenever there is a "worst case scenario" talk it is stressful and scary. Even when you believe in God's will, you can still feel what you feel. It's okay to feel what you feel, because that is how humans feel. I believe that God's will is better than anything that we could ever imagine or wish for. Keep up your faith.
Oh new kind of grief! I never thought I would come to feel close to someone on CZcams. Watching you daily for such a long time, ridiculously my husband and I have grown to love you (Mary, Peter, & Ollie). It hurts to hear the new twist in your journey. Yet the reason your vlog caught my interest was Mary's smile. Ollie is adorable and Peter is so solid and steady, there, and kind. His smile adds to yours. He lends balance. My heart hurts for you but my spirit is enlarged. Keep your courage and thank you for letting us in.

One thing you are not Mary Frey, is a baby. I am watching this in May of 2020. If only I could go back to this day in 2017 and tell you that your quality of life would change, I would do so in a minute. God bless you Mary! Peter, you are just a wonderful man. :)

Please know you are STRONG and even though you may need a transplant please remember that God is with you and WILL protect you! And you will persevere and you will be *okay* no matter what! My heart goes out to you guys I recently lost my cousin/best friend to CF after she was awaiting a lung and heart transplant. It is amazing how your doctor believes in you. I have been here since the star and this breaks my heart to Mary so upset about what is happening. Peter I am in owe at how much you love and support Mary. xirisx1988 same. I can't stop crying right now. I hadn't watched for a while bc I took a week off of technology and this just took me by surprise even though I always knew in the back of my mind that one day it might happen. I have a cousin with CF so I know the harsh realities that come with it and it's hard being close to someone with it. And I feel just as close to Mary as I do to my cousin and it just ripped my heart out hearing those words come out of her mouth. Seeing them cry and being so heartbroken. I just can't stop crying. I love them like family and I can't imagine losing Mary OR Peter. This was incredibly hard to watch but it's good to see them being kind of positive about it too even though it is a very hard time. ❤️We love you guys!!!! 💜💜💜

Thinking about you Mary. My sister in law had her transplant in 2013. About a year later, her body started rejecting them. She was going to be put on a list to have a second but her body just couldnt handle it and she passed September 2014.
She did SO well in the begining. I hope things go well for you. I will be thinking about you guys through all of this.

I am back in the states now after a wonderful but difficult month abroad. When I was in London, I and several sweet, supportive friends had the opportunity to go to the Hillsong church there where they sang a song called "In Control." It brought me to tears there and has brought me to tears everyday since! You are loved by a Creator who so intricately created you so as to show His glory. It's an honor to "know" you both. Prayers and all the love in the world. ❤
Mary, I only recently discovered your videos, and so am only just watching this video 6 months later. You are giving me such encouragement. My son is 22 and has a different condition, but a chronic one with an uncertain future, and as a Christian I hear so much about "God healing" and when it doesn't happen there is this broken hearted thing that happens, and it is so good to hear someone who has accepted the truth of their health position and yet still maintains a true trust in God. Thank you for encouraging me today.

I just watched this. It brought back all the emotions of when I sat in a conference room with a doctor who told me I had stage 3 cancer. I prayed for you all through this video that God will keep His presence known to you through all of this time.

My dad had a kidney transplant 3 years ago... watching you during this video made me recall the day my mom told me that my dad's next step was a transplant. It was earth shattering and an uplifting experience all at once. May you know we pray and walk with you.

I'm pretty sure that everyone so far has captured my feelings and thoughts going out to you both and your family. Mary, I too have a progressive disease, yet I live alone and often find it daunting and easily able to isolate myself without my special person with me to get out and live. I'm in a long distance relationship. Thank you for being there and being, as you said "blunt"!!! I needed to hear so much of what you said, just wish the circumstances were different. So so many prayers. My daughter has a terminal illness. She has a mycobacterial infection in her lymphatic system. It's a horrible thing to have to go through. She also has a rare immunodeficiency disease and a neurological condition. Your family is in my thoughts and in my prayers. If you need someone to speak with regarding mycobacteria please reach out. She's had it for almost 2 years and it's spreading.

The doctors said they'd keep trying so let's hope you get better and don't need a transplant for a long time. Like the doctor told you, it's OK to look into the transplant issue and get your ducks in a row. You have faith in God. You have Peter who is a saint. You have your family and your Ollie. Bless you and hang in there. Like you said the doctor said ... they are not giving up hope regarding treatment. If you need the transplant, it could still be well down the line.
